  1. A Fox just ran onto the Lords pitch. Leicestershire reminder!
  2. Oh that the test cricket was on free to air tv. Currently watching the Hundred which is a bit naff really. My grandson follows London Spirit. As born south of the river of course I prefer the Oval Invincibles.
  3. I would only add that an uncle of mine serving with the British army in the far east at the time was very relieved the war with Japan ended as it did as the prospect of allied casualties were horrific. Came too late for his brother who died in a Japanese prison camp 2 months before after 3 years of brutal and inhumane conditions.
  4. Seems at the least foolhardy to attract the FA in our direction considering the financial rules debacle.
  5. Cheers. Funny I have a foot in both camps so to speak as London born of a cockney dad and a Geordie mum. As a result I've enjoyed the north south divide rather than be bothered by it and support a club from the Midlands!
  6. I never rated Ian Walker at Spurs. Obviously a few dodgy moments with us but a better keeper than I thought.
  7. What is your problem with cockneys as a matter of interest?
  8. For all I know Ward and Coady might do well at Wrexham but just a sigh of relief they are both off our books.
  9. Seems ideal. Apart from anything gets off the wage bill
  10. Good to know. The name I remember from his Leicester Lions days in the early 1980s was Les Collins.
  11. I've never been the sort of bloke that would wear a football shirt unless playing and those days are long gone. My grandson is 12 and of course does and has worn them to matches etc. I just can't see how the cost of official club shirts can be justified beyond agreeing to being mugged. Perhaps I'm missing something. If the shirt was at least current for 2 or 3 seasons I could accept it or go for a classic that won't date. Youngsters will naturally grow out of a shirt so parents face more expense. If shirts were UK made you might think costs are higher so fair enough but I understand they are mostly made by overseas workers not paid much at all.
  12. No wonder the law is sometimes called an ass
  13. I wonder if the fact the incident took place at an airport which are sensitive locations be taken into account. I've heard elsewhere that being described as a student maybe a consideration. As a layman I find this very odd. Would a student get less than say a postman or a shelf stacker or unemployed?
  14. Whatever happened between the mother and the bloke that was head butted? If she had kept her trap shut and not wound the sons up then everything could have been avoided
  15. And considering it looks like they already hit that bloke in the coffee shop area before the coppers were involved
  16. Unfortunately no sign of resurrection. QPR did rise from the dead in that cup final. 2 down and came back to win 3-2
  17. The older reader might remember Mark Lazurus who has died aged 86. Probably most famous as scoring the winner for QPR in 1967 League Cup Final at Wembley against WBA.
  18. Still think overall we are fairly laid back. For every hundred making a lot of headlines there are thousands staying home
  19. Sometimes it is good not to be volatile but sometimes a bit too placid
  20. Dry Your Eyes (not the Streets)
  21. The women have done brilliantly no argument there. I do think it ridiculous to compare the current depth of competition between the mens game and the women.
  22. I think sporting success is a major way for people to express pride. Look at the turn out for the 2012 Olympics. Generally the British and the English in particular do not feel the need on a daily basis to bang on about national pride. Call it laid back or a natural lack of showing off. Football and all the major sports mean large crowds of like minded people gather together in a way the normally reserved public don't usually do. Before the 2012 games there was a lot of moaning before (very UK Trait that) that it would be crap and goodness knows what the opening ceremony would be and probably rubbish when in fact it was marvellous.
  23. Do you work as a bed salesman?
  24. I would be very surprised if more cynicism does not appear. Signs are there as you said with Italy and even Spain
