I miss this in football so much. I think Marti severely lacks in this department, but can’t actually remember our last manager that was great at this either.

The same Nelson who was getting minutes in pre-season and then dropped? If Nelson was injured, why did he play in the league cup game? Faes 100% started ahead of a fit Nelson, one of many Marti masterclasses.

Ruud was bad but had zero investment whilst in the PL. I wanted him gone but he’d likely have done a better job than Marti, at least the lad had standards. Marti allegedly was the reason that Wout came back into the starting 11, after he expressed wanting out.

It’s the fact that Marti doesn’t have a plan A, let alone a plan B etc. I can’t think of a more limited and basic manager, I’m including the likes of Levein/Sousa, he’s that bad.

I’m not hating on Reid, he has been exactly what you’d expect from a player on the PL money that he is on. It’s the playing him in this hideous formation that winds me up. We should not be playing a 10 and JJ.

I’d genuinely prefer Reid as a false 9 than this Ayew up front abomination. Watch us get out run and out fought in the middle of the pitch again.

I think that Reid has been slightly better than average but has also been a reason that we’re too easy to play against. He has taken his goals well, but I can’t help but think that he doesn’t influence the game enough to warrant being a guaranteed name on the team sheet. That’s actually more on Marti than Reid though, he doesn’t appear to genuinely have any tactical nous.

I don’t think that I’ve disliked a manager as much as Rodgers. His chapped lips and little clap, wound me up beyond belief.

I normally like your posts mate but the bias towards Faes confuses me. If we’re saying the club is the issue for someone like Wout, does that extend to Bouba or Thomas too? Wout said he cried when heard about our interest, I reckon they’ll be a lot more happy tears from the majority of fans about his Monaco announcement.

The amount of revisionism on here, does always make me laugh. JJ was absolutely horrendous last season, you could even argue that he had a purple patch of 7/8 months pre-injury but was then back to his norm. However, totally agree with our players looking unfit, hardly surprising that we rank so poorly in a lot of running/sprint stats. That’s part Marti’s lack/awful tactics but then down to players fitness too.

If Marti wasn’t a fraud, he’d actually look at their recent performances and identify their weaknesses. However, what Marti will do, is to play Ayew and Reid and see us offer zero running, as highlighted by the recent Opta stats. Ayew is a hideous CF, Reid doesn’t impact enough of our overall game. Why hasn’t any manager since Enzo come in and tried the two “high 8”s? We have an automatic pick in JJ, it would then mean with our CF and two wingers, we would be a lot more balanced, both attacking and defensively.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Marti didn’t bring on Evans, as a message to the board about bringing in a striker. Imagine if Evans came on, had a decent cameo. Marti would have likely been reminded that we have no money and January’s biggest goal is to get some big earners off our books.
