Doesn’t have to be 4-4-2. The key would be a proper defensive midfielder. Obviously not Kante as he was a one off but someone who can offer us a similar assurance in that the central area of the pitch is covered. This would avoid the need to think that one of the full backs has to come into this area. If you had this, you could play with the 2 8’s either side and 2 full backs with the licence to get forward. It requires the discipline to say not all 4 of them to go at the same time. Just feels that way you are not leaving a particular area of your defence exposed whist also having the capability to overload the opposition going forwards.

Worth saying, I don’t think I have ever seen a post of yours that is not spot on. Nail on head every time
-
Maybe we just accept Maresca has gone and drop the stupid system then? It’s not working for us. We don’t look solid in the middle and look massively vulnerable in the full back areas whilst our wingers are isolated. A much better way to use the full backs would be them bombing on the overlap and providing support to the wingers. This bringing them in field achieves nothing.

Depends what measure you are using. 1 season for a manager in normal terms no. In Forest terms it’s almost a Wenger/Ferguson type legacy! But then Forest and managers is a bit like a dog years to human years situation!
-
Erm, I definitely saw you ask to take the role of technical director earlier today on one of the threads

Clearly not a market we would have been shopping in for many many years. However, sometimes someone might not be the most inspiring name but what you need at the time. If we have any chance of staying up, we need someone who can address the defence. There’s obviously going to be a limit anyone can do in such little time and no recruitment but Rowett has as much chance as anyone. He will also demand certain standards in terms of effort. Given how many want to give Aiyawatt chance after chance, and want us to back the players who have failed to turn up over and over again, maybe we give the guy who has literally played no part in it a chance? Let’s be straight, if we go down, it is not on Rowett just as 2023 was not on Smith.

Realistic Managerial Replacements

Just found the quote “I think the next step for Leicester has to be the right step for them because you can't go from winning the Premier League to being in League One in a matter of a few seasons, that is very, very poor management” -
Realistic Managerial Replacements
LCFCJohn replied to winteriscoming's topic in Leicester City Forum
Am I right in thinking when he (Rowett) spoke about our managerial position the other day, when he made the ambitious comments, someone said he had been critical of the way the club is run? -
Yeah we get it, we’re done! I think it stays at is now. Oxford are giving 100% but I don’t see them having the quality to get enough points to overhaul Blackburn, Portsmouth and Brom. We have nothing and are showing nothing. We are nailed on.
-
I have had a similar thought regarding relegated by more or less than 6 points. I expect the most likely scenario is relegation by less than 6. I can’t see us staying up but more than 6 is a way to fall behind. Technically it is true I suppose. In that yeah, if we didn’t have the deduction we’d have stayed up in that case. But what a simplistic argument that would be for those with nowhere else to turn. The obviously thing is why have we had a deduction. Over 100% wages to turnover and the stupid losses we racked up. Stupid, reckless and deserving of punishment. But also you look at how it has been handled and the timing. The clubs refusal to take accountability, not engage with the authorities and kick the can down the road means we have finally had this punishment this season. At a point where we have cripples ourselves with our squad building and become weaker year on year. It would have been smarter to take it on the chin originally and taken the punishment when we were in the PL or even a strong Championship team no? And then jump to this season. Highest wage bill in the league. I know we are full aware that is not reflected in the ability of the squad but if this squad did the basics, and we had an actual manager in place from the start, the floor for this squad would be higher than within 6 points of the relegation zone for it to be a problem anyway. So anybody uses that as an excuse, they can get in the bin. Yes, it’s factually but it doesn’t deserve a mention as it indicates being hard done by which we aren’t.
-
Yep, the players are beaten before they take the pitch. They even flipped out at 3-0 up and couldn’t keep their heads. Most clubs/squads would use the points deduction and the Southampton game as a catalyst for a siege mentality but I just can’t see it with this lot. Games like the Southampton one do happen from time to time. It happens to other clubs. In isolation, you could put it down to a freak game where everything went wrong. The issue is that with us, it didn’t seem like a freak result or how it came about rather. People were expecting it. That’s damning for a group of professional (term used loosely for some of them) footballers. Where is the pride?

Just seen this posted elsewhere from Piper. Great post from him. Essentially he is saying we need to be together and yes, back the team but that we need to together in the pursuit of change. Matt Piper on X The last thing our club needs right now is infighting between the fan base 😔 The clubs in dire straits atm & us guys squabbling against each other won’t help! In situations like this, I’ve always found it best to come together on what we all do agree on-which is the club can’t continue operating in the way it is, if it does I can’t see it being in existence for much longer 😞. We’re divided because there’s a split with the thinking how that will be best achieved. My thoughts haven’t changed in the fact I think new ownership is the best option to guide us in a new direction with fresh ideas, energy, enthusiasm and away from this incredible multilayered mess we find ourselves in. However, all I want is the club to be stable and an enjoyable place to experience again, (doesn’t have to be titles & trophies, although that’d be nice!) players, managers & coaches that are proud to represent our club 🙌🏾🦊! With leadership that is consistent, strong and has a clear vision for the future, that we can all buy into. I am incredibly thankful and full of gratitude for what King Power have done for our club over the years, Vichai delivered those qualities I’ve spoken about above and Top doesn’t seem to possess the same high level of leadership needed to deliver similar results. Which is understandable, Vichai and leaders of that calibre are rarities, hence the reason they can build global businesses or deliver Premier League titles to football clubs like ours. But Top needs to put his Ego to the side and accept he’s not his father (which is totally okay 💙) and surround himself with people who possess the skills he lacks. If he can do that, which is a huge ‘if’ I for one will be happy for the King Power group to remain and try and turn this dreadful situation around. I’m a very emotional guy (and can often lose my head on the radio), but I didn’t mean any disrespect or ungratefulness towards King Power after the last game at the KP. I love the club from when I was a little kid, it means everything to me, like it does for so many of the LCFC fan base and when it feels it could be slipping-not just down the leagues but out of existence- we have to fight for it and protect it 👊🏾 But please people, not against each other 💙. We should be united as a fanbase and use that power of togetherness to influence the changes that will help our club thrive again! I don’t think we need to be divided about ‘Who?’ can deliver us that, more the ‘How!’ All I know is, we need action from the club and it needs to be quickly because not doing anything will only make things much worse! So Khun Top, If you’re keeping it, it’s time to show strength in your leadership and either lead now or delegate to others with the wisdom, experience and enthusiasm to move us past this mess, inaction at this point is just NOT an option! Personally, I’d like to see a small carefully selected fan group of well ‘balanced’ individuals that have the ‘Clubs’ best interest at heart (people who don’t just argue for arguments sake or boo/hiss at opposing views), empathetic, respectful, but also tough characters that will hold the club to account if /when needed, who work with the club at the highest level to bring about change in a positive way. I really like the 50+1 rule the Bundesliga operates with its clubs in Germany! Anyway, I’m ranting now, which I didn’t want to do 😩 All I know is, I love the club and I don’t want to just sit back and see it slide out of existence. 💙 -

@Sky Blueshas said above this what I have said before which is that both can exist, holding the club accountable whilst helping support the team. If the players have anything about the, intellectually and morally, they will understand. Like Coventry’s players did and Sheffield Wednesday players knew that the protests weren’t at them. I’m not having a go at you. You come on here to discuss which is fair enough and I understand the point and the fear. Whether these players have it in them to perform if backed and cheered for 90 minutes I don’t think they would. The Southampton game the other day, they were heavily supported. There was of course nerves that probably transmitted from the stands because we have seen how mentally weak this side are. Ultimately, the players can control the way fans are in the stands through their effort on the pitch. Fans have little control. The key point is, you say you agree with the the sentiment that has led to the protests in that you are unhappy with how the club is run and you are not attached to the owner or anything. So what is the solution? Everyone could drop this protest stuff, back the team and due to what a weak bunch they are, we still go down. In the process, no effort has been made to address the real issue we have gone down which are well documented. Do we then ramp it up? Or go full in now and just accept that we are playing the long game in getting our club back to one we can be proud of and that is run sustainably, without the humiliation of a points deduction and being a laughing stock on the pitch also. In my mind, it’s quite clear. Protests such as the one advertised are about outside the ground. It’s a march and then to meet outside. It doesn’t have to go into the ground. I’d argue if more people supported it, collectively the fanbase and those who are pushing for accountability and change would feel more positively that we are making progress and then the atmosphere that carries over into the ground might even be more positive. -
This is spot on. And potential buyers will be smart enough to realise this. So when people say, who would buy us, where are the rumours of interest etc. It makes sense in more ways than financially, for someone to wait until we fall further yet. It’s an odd situation where so many supporters seemingly are more attached to the ownership than the club itself so any prospective buyer has it in their interests to wait until more and more of these supporters have either turned through it getting so bad or otherwise lost interest and drifted away.

What’s any of this got to do with the post your quoted? What @AKCJis true. People can’t separate the two and protesting is seen as not supporting the team. This is not something other fanbases struggle with. That’s not labelling people. There are plenty who confess to being unhappy with the ownership and running of the club but are adamant that we can’t protest as we must get behind the team. Thats who he is referring to. Those who hero worship the owner and won’t hear a word against him or hold him accountable are clearly on another planet but that is clearly to me at least, not what that post was referring to. -
Each to their own.... Leicester City belongs to all of us

Excellent post. I have been making a similar point regarding our history and how this is a club supported by generations. Shows it is also nothing to do with age nor how long people have supported the club as to which side of the debate you come down on. It is purely and simply standards and how much you care about the future of the club. LCFC not KPFC! -
Exactly. We had a perfectly proud history before. Yes, the two achievements in the past 10 years are the biggest but we had a few major trophies and a proud top flight and the most second tier titles. The irony being, they say those of us who are angry started supporting in 2016 and are entitled thinking we should be winning the league and cup regularly. It’s the opposite, we are proud of our clubs heritage and it is those lot who make it all about the ‘winning stuff’. As for pride, I have never been more ashamed to support this club. I had to confess to being a Leicester fan to someone the other day and it was embarrassing. I just asked if we could move the conversation on.

You can remember all that fondly whilst still expecting basic standards from the club though. Standards that include not being the laughing stock of football for our decline on the pitch and failings off it, resulting in a points deduction which is a stain on the reputation of the club and it’s name. Remembering the good stuff that has happened and holding the club accountable are not mutually exclusive. -

To be fair, a lot of them are tied to KP so I suspect as we naturally fall further and/pr KP leave, many of them will drift away from the club. So I’d still go for KP and let the fanbase sort itself out following that. -
Haha, I figured you did. Pedantic of my yes. But yeah, it’s a much different story if we go down. Although in some cases, Nelson, Monga, James for example, I think they are gone regardless of relegation or scraping survival.
-
Getting your fill from being banned from the undivided page on this one then Amazing how many there are. Some of the others seem to have seen a bit of a shift to be fair, to being more angry at the club.
-
We were a much better run club then and not falling apart financially. It made it easier to handle. And Pearson and co of course. No chance are we in a promotion picture even in L1 next season. Ricardo was not part of the title winning team. Fatawu, James and Lascelles will not be staying, well maybe Lascelles if we stayed up but none of them in L1. Otherwise spot on
-
Hobbs, Mark Davies, Cleverley, Lloyd Dyer, Max Gradel. And of course Pearson in charge. You’ll struggle to see a better side grace the 3rd tier. We are certain to set a new lowest ever finish in the pyramid by the end of next season.

Yep… I think these people just go for something to do and want a nice quiet atmosphere. They are therefore upset by the toxic atmosphere that has developed but can’t see why it is because they don’t have that emotional connection to the club. As said above, if the club folded, they’d move on and find another activity to do.
