  1. I mean it’s a daft question. Who is going to say they’d want a grand total of 5 points over 15? The clan sheet thing is being such a widely talked about issue purely because we aren’t getting those scoreline wins you have said. 9 games without a win. A better example would be if we were going to draw, would you rather 0-0 or 2-2? And I’d say 0-0 at this point as we know we can score goals but the confidence from a clean sheet would do wonders. If we can actually win some games without necessarily keeping a clean sheet, fine. 3 points is what is important.
  2. I think it is often more in the physical attributes such as pace and power. There have also been some that have excelled at Championship level (such as Billy Sharp and Jordan Rhodes) who never really made it at PL level despite being clearly excellent goalscorers. Whereas those you mention have physically been able to step up and not struggle.
  3. Yeah…let’s be honest, no you don’t and no he wouldn’t. Criticism is fine but these hyperbolic comments get a bit tiresome.
  4. Brentford given Andrews a contract extension until 2032! Hell of a long time. I guess his wages are not high and they have covered themselves if they need to let him go, unlike us with Rodgers.
  5. I think it’s about playing players in the best positions. James did much better before injury from deeper and Mukasa looks excellent where he is playing. Daka for all his faults does seem to coincide with the team looking brighter and his missed header aside, his pressing and getting us up the pitch was good at Middlesbrough. Probably best to go James - Skipp Fatawu - Mukasa - LW (Mav/Monga/Reid) Daka
  6. It depends if you see it as celebrating or just some hope and relief. The latter is how I feel. It absolutely shows the way the standards have been tanked by Aiyawatt over the years though as you say. A couple of weeks ago, we were dead and buried and had no hope of survival. Whilst survival in this league is not where we should be (contrary to the view of those who incorrectly see it as our natural level), we have been left in this hole as a result of Aiyawatt, Rudkin and the supporters backing them. Under the games so far with Rowett, we have seen an improvement in the effort and application and that gives us hope that we can pull away.
  7. It just shows how for so many managers now, the basics haven’t been instilled. It’s not forced but people are just relieved to see some effort and hope on the pitch now.
  8. Can you not see that that might be who he is surrounded by though? It’s not as clear cut as just saying a player is shit etc. When you are sharing a defence with Caleb Okoli, Luke Thomas and 2026 Ricardo, as a 21 year old defender who hasn’t yet actually had a full season under his belt due to injuries and us being a non youth friendly club, how are you going to look? Rowett loved him at Oxford and even though they were a more limited side, they would have been much more organised and hard working than we are. It’s good for Nelson that Rowett is here. I reckon he’ll be at the forefront of any improvements in the defence as the rest of the season plays out and whether or not we stay up or go down, will get a move elsewhere in the summer given his contract situation.
  9. Well to me it’s clearly a case of Nelson struggling in a crap side alongside bombscares in defence with him whereas Okoli is the bombscare. So if all the defenders are fit, it is Lascelles and Nelson no question. I didn’t say Nelson had been great but the idea that you’d go with Okoli over him to partner Lascelles if fit is not really the call someone would make if they don’t have a grievance for some reason towards Nelson as the poster I quoted does.
  10. Yeah you really don’t have a problem with Nelson do you
  11. He wouldn’t need to be anywhere near as good as Vardy to be more than good enough for us in the coming years though. And I don’t even mean that as a dig at us but he could become a good Championship striker and be good for us or make some money if we did rise above that level again. Vardy of course also struggled as a much weaker academic/club than Popov has played at with us as well as being much later to reach the level Popov is playing at now. It has to be worth keeping him and continuing his development. Even if that was another loan, he’d still only be about 22.
  12. Yeah, funny how we have got our heads up and look more confident and they start leaking rumours again….
  13. And even Skipp is playing well and arguably in that conversation as well. As he should be having played at a higher level and what he cost of course. It’s a nice problem to have. Do we think Winks has the skill set to play the Maresca 8 type? James definitely does. James - Skipp - Winks Fatawu - Mukasa - Mavididi/Monga
  14. Yeah, we have a better midfielder than Winks ourselves. Unfortunately he is injured….
  15. He had a good, solid game last night. There was definitely a big improvement with preventing crosses coming in. The bar has been very low but he was getting a foot in to prevent them. There was also a particular moment when a ball was coming over the top and he managed to hook it away on the volley. In wees gone by, that probably beats him. Got into some good positions at the other end but the final ball not there. His confidence must have been through the floor so it’s shoots of positivity at least.
  16. And West Brom take the lead as we do that…
  17. We can’t just get through without literally handing it on a plate can we!
  18. Whether we have finished 3rd bottom in the second tier twice or three times, it doesn’t change what I was saying which is as a league position, 42nd in the pyramid, it is our joint second worst finish (if we finish where we are now). Our worst finish being when we won League 1.
  19. If Thomas and Okoli were a border, they’d definitely be Berwick upon Tweed. Invaded and taken over by the Scots a stupid amount of times in history!
  20. Yeah, the irony they changed the name as they obviously realised it wasn’t fair, out sustainable in it which is also clearly not the case! I have said it before, have an independent panel with no bias and knowledge of the sport to take over the decision making of basket case clubs like ours rather than points deductions. I would fully support this for us, and a wage cap implemented on the club in terms of how much any player can be given.
  21. Probably looking at and replying angrily to posts critical of Aiyawatt/Rudkin across various FB groups….
  22. Putting 3 games and those stats sounds impressive but is actually playing it down if anything. 3 appearances yes but the debut at Birmingham was only 13 minutes and then 64 at home to Southampton. 167 minutes in total. 23 minutes short of 2 games! A goal contribution every 42 minutes.
  23. What’s your measure for better manager though? Someone who players the tippy tappy outdated crap? If Rowett can win games, sort out the culture at the playing side of the club in terms of attitudes, develop us into being hard to beat again and defensively sound, I would argue those are critical to beyond our immediate/short term future. It would at least show he is a good fit for us. You could bring someone in who is perceived to be a better manager but the reality is they just build upon the reasons we have been failing for many years. The style of play and soft culture attached to it is one of the reasons in my view. It’s a balancing act and I’m not saying you’re wrong. But the best manager on paper isn’t always the best fit.
  24. I work with a Wednesday fan who mentioned this yesterday yeah. Lots of emergency loans.
  25. I’ve said this before, they there should be an independent and impartial panel/group who have good knowledge of football and finances and can take control of the decisions made by clubs being poorly ran. If such a set up existed (I.e. not the likes of the EFL who are corrupt), I’d happily see the control of the club passed to them, to get the finances under control and decide on signings/contract etc given our owner/DOF/board are incapable of doing so.
