If we did get relegated, who would still be here next season?
LCFCJohn replied to glenny_fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Yeah maybe. Was just making the point there’s one less consideration given we don’t need to cover amortisation. -

Well it offsets the two points dropped at West Brom when he fell on his arse in fright when the Baggies player ran at him…. Maybe that point for West Brom might be the one keeping them in the Championship…..at our expense! -

Signed for free though so we could let him go on a free as no amortisation. -

Remember though when the big 6 did the supper league shit and it ‘wasn’t fair to punish the fans for the owners actions’ when punishment such as points deductions were mentioned…. Only fair to punish the fans of the rest of the clubs out there….. -

Do you mind just pointing me to when we were where and what we are now? If the season ended today, it would be our joint second worst finish in our history. And only the second time relegated to the third tier. I hate this narrative that this is our ‘natural place’. In the past 100 years, we have finished in the bottom half of the second tier 12 times and League 1 once. 13% of the last 100 years outside the either the top flight or top half of the second tier. And in an unprecedented financial meltdown to add. This is not normal. -

I do wonder what the difference would be. They would certainly be down still but would they have at least been more competitive? Maybe. But it just affects the whole league as a competition. Ours a bit as well but given it only just happened we have at least had the opportunity to be competitive on the pitch but have just chosen not to be! It will likely push the points for survival above the normal amount as well which is bad news for us. -

Makes me wonder what they will do next season. If us and Oxford go down with them, we really have to be making the most of the fact are in a mess (as oppose to if other clubs went down like Cardiff this year who are dominating). Realistically we would likely be in as much of a mess and both be struggling at the wrong end! -

He seems quite knowledgeable about our off the pitch situation but clearly hasn’t watched us as much as the rest of us -

We’ll probably score. But we need minimum 2 to get anything from any game. I have never seen an overall defence as bad and as badly organised as well as the sheer volume of mistakes game after game as us. Regardless of Middlesbrough’s weaknesses, let’s not kid ourselves that they are in a different league (metaphorically speaking) to ourselves. I know you personally will want us to get something as it boosts your prospects but manage your expectations! -

Thing is, no team actually has to create any chances against us. We gift the chances to the opposition. Look at the goals against you guys a few weeks ago. Goalkeeper not coming for basic crosses, defenders falling over their own feet, Ricardo against, it was one of the recent home games against Oxford or Charlton, standing and just getting robbed of the ball under no pressure. -

It feels like quite a predicable 3-1 defeat. Middlesbrough to go 2-0 up fair early, or first half rather. We’ll pull one back in the second but they will seal it later one as their increased quality and our lack of fitness shows. -
You’ve got a typo in your second word. You’ve put a ‘w’ rather than ‘t’. As for tomorrow, 3-1 Middlesbrough. They will go 2-0 up, we’ll huff and puff and pull one back before they seal it.

It’ll be freebies and loans, I can’t see any transfer fees being paid out. And which freebies and loans will depend on which league we are in so it’s too early to say.

Congratulations to Sheffield Wednesday for confirming their place in League 1 for the 2026-2027 season

Not necessarily. Let’s be open minded at least. He spent a number of years at Millwall, progressing them and establishing them as a side pushing at the top end of the league not looking over their shoulders. For me, we don’t need a really technical manager right now. I know you love Enzo but that’s not where we are right now. Even under Enzo, we lost an awful lot of games and conceded a lot (and often got away with it due to poor finishing). Obviously we scored an awful lot and won loads so went up and fair play. We now need things such as years worth of decline defensively and mentally to be addressed. We need to go back to basics and be structured and defensively sound so we can focus on the other end. It must be soul destroying for the attacking players to score 2/3 and it not be enough. Even if we stay up, we aren’t challenging for promotion next season. Rowett would continue this work. With the recent history of managerial appointments, it’s more likely the club get it wrong.
-
One of them with Nelson. I don’t see Vestergaard and Lascelles working as a pair. I might be wrong as Wes and Huth mentioned above, we both on the senior side! But I do think Nelson is looking shakey because of those around him and he is too young and experienced to take it all on by himself. Whereas even when he was alongside Vestergaard for a spell, they looked to be ok. Anyway, Rowett raved about Nelson when he coached him last season and made comments about him going to the top so I expect he’ll be first choice.

I think it seems that Rowett coming in and by all accounts a supportive away end yesterday galvanised the players more to a better performance. I think it was a poor result given it was Stoke B team but even as an ardent KP/Aiyawatt/Rudkin out, I agree that in our current position, a positive atmosphere in the ground in beneficial. But, people are so limited in their thinking that both can’t happen and that is the problem. March to the ground, protest outside, make it known and get it in the media. Then by all means, support Rowett and the team. -

I’m one of the biggest believers that the statue should be in the memorial garden and have said as much. But vandalism and damage of property will not help. We are still (amazingly) at a stage of this process where we need to get more on side. In order to do this, the protests need to be factual and aimed at highlighting the failings, and yes embarrassing Aiyawatt. But vandalism will lose sympathy and support for the cause. -
Don’t disagree with your last line! But that last play in stoppage time, it definitely did create the chance. It was actually the best one I have seen. And it led to us hitting the bar and subsequently the post from Thomas himself. You couldn’t get much closer. Not defending him or saying I want him in the team.
-
Both signings had this forum buzzing when they were confirmed as well.
-
Charlton are crap apart from when they came and turned us over but they probably doesn’t even say much about them. I can see West Brom going there and winning as Portsmouth did. And Oxford away is straight forward for most. They have put in gritty displays away at Coventry and Middlesbrough but at home they are getting beaten. West Brom might not win both but they are getting some points from those two.
-
Maybe. I have just not seen a side so awful for so long. It is more about personnel at this point. If Lascelles was fit, I think he and Nelson are a great partnership. Aluko would be better at RB than Ricardo but isn’t being given a chance. But we are stuffed at left back. It’s got to the point the fans know we are conceding at least twice so the players go out there knowing it too and that is a bad place mentally for the team to be.
-
Yeah exactly. But have we had a crop so promising come through together ever before? No. So by our standards, it’s a generational bunch of talent. Not that we will likely benefit too much from them.
-
Leicester to appoint Martyn Glover as head of senior recruitment.
LCFCJohn replied to stu's topic in Leicester City Forum
I suppose it is more identifying a good fit then rather than a ‘find’. By the term find, I think of an unknown player. Mukasa is obviously known already but the skill set is yes, something we need right now. -
We are nailed on to go down because we are conceding at least 2 goals per game! If you keep it tight defensively, you have the chance of nicking results even if you aren’t scoring loads. In our case, if you are conceding so many, it puts far too much pressure on the attacking players to score 2 for a draw or 3 (at least) for a win. It is unsustainable.
