  1. Lots of hindsight going on here. When BBM’s name was in the ring back in the summer, the idea was shut down on here. The consensus was that he was partly for the issues last season and not strong enough. I don’t think I’d have minded personally as he came with a reputation of playing young players which was something I wanted to see. But then Marti came with that reputation as well and we are only just starting to see it now. Who knows what pressure, either from above, or just down to the wider expectations of being in the job, BBM would have been under here (compared to Cardiff) and now he’d have reacted. Obviously this has only been bumped due to a particular poster using anything they can to pursue an odd vendetta against our current manager anyway….
  2. Celtic I think!
  3. Better coach than Maresca too then
  4. I’m quite surprised he got that long given, as above, no lives were (fortunately) lost. But I suppose the volume of people injured and affected by it also stacks up. It seems like a case of an appropriate sentence in our otherwise, often overly soft, justice system. I would be interested to know what went on. Given he is ex armed forces, was it anger from trauma? Or just an angry vile individual? If the former, you’d imagine he is quite remorseful and regrets the day. I think it also shines a light on some of the pathetically short sentences given for driving related incidents that do result in death, during which cars are used as weapons. You see sentences of 3/4 years and it’s incredible.
  5. Exactly. And it’s not about saying people shouldn’t go. It’s not about saying people also shouldn’t get behind the team. In the past few game, we have seen a lot more from those on the pitch to deserve the backing of the fans anyway. It’s about holding the clubs accountable. Be that Aiyawatt, Rudkin through to the manager and players. You can do that whilst attending and supporting the club. People seem to think it’s one or the other. But yeah, our fan base can’t complain that the fans are being punished for the clubs actions as and when the penalties hit.
  6. See I don’t. It was all on Chansiri. He should be punished not the club and fans. Remember the uproar that the super league 6 shouldn’t be deducted points because ‘it was not the fans fault and the fans don’t deserve to be punished’. Double standards that nobody makes the same arguments for situations like Wednesday. We are a different situation as a lot of our fans are complicit through blindly supporting the regime that are causing the threat of points deductions, without demanding accountability or change. So I couldn’t really make the same argument towards it not being fair on our fans.
  7. Maresca seems very thin skinned and sensitive. When he got all upset at sections of our fans not taking to his style of play and gave the old ‘if you don’t support me I’ll leave’ fit and now making cryptic comments towards the Chelsea board. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cpvd7w39j7ko
  8. This is almost doing Mahrez down because of how good he was, but I watched the clip to see which goal you were highlighting and thought, that was just Riyad. That was what he did. But that in itself is a huge compliment to him. And it did have more to it than the standard cut in and shoot.
  9. The title of the thread is at the King Power, so this stadium. Hence why the responses are 2002 onwards, with Nalis against Leeds being the further back. If it was at home in history or at Filbert Street then yes. Nothing to do with football pre and post PL.
  10. Puel wasn’t he?
  11. None of that, purely about long term damage like I said. And they will have ended up contributing regardless of the circumstances (only contributing after being relegated). More a reflection on the fact I thought that was gong to be Skipp, until 2029 and BDR until 2027 were going to be like Daka and Soumare, draining resources and getting no return on that. So it is a positive comment that it is good to see they have become key performers over recent games. Yes you can point to the level and yes, you can rightly point to the fee for Skipp. But the less genuine deadwood, the better. Most of it will be gone by summer at the latest and on current performance, it’s only really Faes (2027) that is a major issue beyond this season. Vestergaard and Thomas even if not the one with a major attitude issue, need upgrading though.
  12. Think it is specifically this stadium so Joachim would have been Filbert street?
  13. Guessing people on here would be in uproar if Vicario from Spurs turned up here then?
  14. Yep, true. We are perhaps showing some signs of trying to adapt now but it isn’t a quick process and will need some recruitment to match. A shame Daka is busted as he should have been better suited to how we are approaching games currently.
  15. I agree. Skipp is looking good now and BDR is contributing, bear in mind he was a free transfer. Bilal will have made us profit. Ayew at least was only 2 years. I don’t see long term damage from Cooper’s time like Rodgers (Daka, Soumare, Faes and Vestergaard).
  16. For all the talk in recent times of such an unlikeable squad, say it quietly but this is the fist time in years that we are starting to see this this turning. Stolarcryk Ricardo Nelson Fatawu - odd outburst at fans aside but he cares Skipp James BDR Mavididi - a confidence player but is clearly a character based on the last promotion season 8 of the 11 I would say. Vestergaard I won’t forget certain things that have happened before but he seems like one that has become more acceptable, even more likeable. Thomas and Daka aren’t unlikely but are just poor. A shame as if they could could replicate their best selves consistently they would be. I think Cifuentes does deserve credit for that even if it took longer than it should to oust the likes of Winks, Faes and Soumare. Give us a leader type left back, a Fuchs type. A centre back with the skill set physically and mentally of a Morgan or Huth, again, a leader. And a striker who can do his job. I also feel like we are starting to see a shift away from the tippy tappy and to a more modern style but it takes time and recruitment. Possibly the likeable bit is a bit harsh on the Maresca season as Vardy, KDH, Ndidi, Justin and Hermansen were likeable. But Faes and Winks were central. But it feels like this could be the start of us getting our Leicester back as I don’t feel the approach to games under Maresca was at all ‘Leicester’.
  17. Fatawu yesterday of course. Joey Gudjohnsen for another ‘from own half’ effort. Nalis vs Leeds in 03/04 as well. Vardy against Liverpool in 2016. Konchesky was coming to mind but looking it up, it was away at Wolves. Probably more that I am forgetting.
  18. Blasphemy towards Skippy But with Nelson, Vestergaard looking better alongside Nelson, Skipp and James with BDR, suddenly the spine of the side is looking really good for this level. Stolarcryk needs to just sort his concentration out. He’s still a very good keeper. We are a striker away from the spine being sorted. Wingers are doing their bit. Striker and left back are the weaknesses.
  19. I’m not saying he wasn’t. Or he was good for much of the season, not all. But I believe we could have brought in someone for half the fee and wages, with a better attitude who would have offered just as much. If we were smarter with our scouting and a well ran club. My issue is we overpaid (fee and wages) and with the attitude, overall he has been poor business. As was Coady. Mavididi has been solid business for the outlay, Fatawu and Hermansen better than solid. But still issues with the mentality. Lack of real leaders and winners. Jordan James, albeit on loan currently, rectifies this. And even Skipp as well. Will we end up thanking Cooper?
  20. A very generous ‘assist’ to his name there
  21. At the end of the day, we are showing improvement and stringing some results together now. Regardless of what people may want, clearly he’s not going anywhere at this point so it’s irrelevant. There’s been many issues, most notably the exclusion of Nelson for so long which then mean more Faes, James being played as CAM and Winks involved. These have had a knock on effect on the way we have played and the failings. We’ve reached a point, eventually, where these issues have been addressed and we are seeing improvements drastically in results and first half performances. We need to find a better way of managing second halves and cut out the stupid errors we see. Fitness is a key issue too. I was really concerned a few weeks ago, particularly around the time he brought Nelson back in cold and he was subsequently injured straight away, rather than having given him minutes earlier. I’m now neutral as I can see the improvement. I do think if you brought someone else in now we’d be more likely to see the likes of Faes and Winks back. Let’s try and shift these two and Soumare in January and look to strengthen a couple of positions and I fancy we have a much stronger second half of the season.
  22. The need to play the ‘senior’ players. Whether dictated to from above Marti or not who knows. Fans also have to take some responsibility as there was no pressure put to play him. When Faes and Vestergaard were giving away goals each week through their constant errors, all we heard was about Nelson having a bad 45 against Huddersfield and how Vestergaard is the best defender in the league…
  23. Yes, as I started going through I did realise and have acknowledged that. But as I say, we still made some awful signings (Coady and Winks) and had we used that money wisely, we would have been much better placed. But as I also said, even the good signings have/had some glaring issues of the nature we need to address (mentality). Now that’s fine for your Fatawu’s and Mavididi’s but overall, as a window, we were lacking. Hence why we dropped right off and nearly threw promotion away. But the other point was, people make out like Maresca’s tenure was 100% perfect. When it wasn’t.
  24. This is exactly why I say the summer window under Maresca was so massively overrated. He gets such a free pass from so many. Mostly they offered on the pitch but not always value for money and importantly, not of the right mentality. Coady - poor in every aspect. Winks - added on the pitch for a short time but awful attitude and massively overpaid on fee and wages Cannon - at least we made some money on him but he didn’t really offer much. I think there’s a decent player in there though. Hermansen - was a good signing obviously and we made a tidy profit. Still didn’t resolve the mentality issue in this squad though as he doesn’t seem like a winner. Fatawu - very good signing again. But still flashes of a weak mentality from him at times. Mavididi - similar. Can’t say the fee wasn’t fair and you’d assume wages were reasonable (whereas we all know Coady and Winks have been overpaid). But not the toughest mentality. I just think we’d have been better using the funds available that summer on alternatives for Coady and Winks really. The others were good signings. But Winks and Coady were supposed to be the senior signings and leaders and were awful.
  25. I hope so. I depends if any other clubs have swooped in during the time he was inexplicably frozen out and turned his head.
