That and Spurs shaved off a bit of their asking price for Winks and we shaved a bit off ours for Maddison. Keeping the deals separate and stopping us potentially paying more to Norwich as part of their sell on clause. Coady and Winks combined are probably on less than Maddison was on salary wise as well. Deals over £30m for Barnes will be considered carefully I'd have though. £35m will probably do it. We've moved a few high earners off the books with Tielemans and Maddison gone and then the leavers on frees. Get deals for Barnes and Castange finalised and we should have banked enough to complete our rebuild and then only worry about one or two more being targeted, mainly Nacho.

Do it the Man City way and have your striker drift out to contest the ball with the fullback with players around him so that any sort of knock down you collect. Got Man City the first goal in the FA Cup final.

At one point we had a great reputation for bringing through England goalkeepers. Been a while though.

If I was in the country and in JJ's position I'd make sure I was there to show the new boss that I'm fit and ready to go.

Top and his family have done wonders at the club. Consider where we were before King Power for a second and then wind your neck in. The club has made mistakes, loyalty to Rogers and gambling with a season of no player sale to try and build squad depth. Errors that are unlikely to be repeated again.

Trafford has gone for £15m rising to £19m and there's a buy back clause in there as well.am City made sure they did alright on that deal. It does mean Burnley now have 5 keepers on their books with Kompany purchasing two last summer and now two this summer. Could we do a deal for the Kosovo international who's just been relegated from first choice (you'd assume) and who is also a product of the Man City academy system.

Faes was awesome before the world cup, being ignored by Martinez at the world cup seemed to sap all his confidence and then the lack of team form when he came back never saw it return. An arm round him, pump his tyres up a bit and he'll be a good player for us. His passing game will be on a par with a number of midfielders at Championship level.

I suspect Spurs wanted more than £10m for Winks and that we knocked a little off the Madders fee so they knocked a little off the Winks fee. Winks and Coady are very good business at this level and their transfer fees will be peanuts if it gets us back up. Coady for the price is pretty much bang on what I'd expect to pay, Winks was a touch more but not much. Nacho leaving feels inevitable which is a shame as with Madders gone he'd finally get that number 10 slot he prefers. Hopefully we can get £10m plus as we'll need to spend on the forward line this summer with Barnes also likely off.

We only have so many assets with which to generate funds. We've got to sell them for as much as possible. I did also say that the only reason we should accept £40m was if it was allowing for us to make immediate signings and judging by the Winks situation that appears to be the case. Well that and some discount is probably being done on Winks because of the Maddison deal. As an aside the Daily Heil have started suggesting the fee is more like £45m which would be much closer to what I'd consider a fair price in the circumstances.
-
£40m is to low. We should make Spurs work a bit harder than that or ensure that there's a sell on fee attached. I get wanting his wages off the books asap as he's on £100k a week, only excuse for accepting £40m if it facilitates immediate signings the squad needs.

Sounds interesting. Looking the send off he's got then he could be useful at attracting some additional sponsorship, particularly if he can break into the first team.

Champions League is a big draw. Spurs don't have it and will be lucky to get it next season. Newcastle have it and have the financial capacity to keep it.
-
Yeah, I think the best we'll do is take the cash they offer and then try and tag on a player or a loan as Newcastle will have to lighten their squad numbers before next season. £40m and a player might have to do.
-
Newcastle are looking to bring in a few players. So far they know the only competition for Maddison is Spurs and that Levy will piss about trying to pay as little as possible. They don't need to prioritise this deal, they can let us sweat a little and then come in when we are in need of cash in a few weeks and get a deal done.
-
Transfer fee is one thing but it's worth remembering salary and Madders is rumoured to be on £100k a week. Any replacement is likely to be on more like £30k so there's a saving of £70k a week as well.

Parma are a Serie B side still so it's not a big reach, particularly if he regards Maresca highly.
-
If another club comes in with a big offer then fine but otherwise I'd hope we keep hold of KDH. He had injury issues last season and will be easily good enough to dominate in the Championship. We want to be concentrating on bringing in a few quality additions not having to spend the whole summer buying a new squad.

Can play out wide, can play through the middle. Managed to do well in a losing cause last season in the Championship. Seems like a worthwhile punt at the price mentioned.

Manager for the Championship rebuild - who do you want?
fkas replied to Happy Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Hutter is very good at building up a squad. He got quite a few players to improve and bring big fees to Frankfurt. Haller, Jovic and Andre Silva all prime examples. Whether he can operate at the Championship level would be a question but it would be a question worth asking. Perhaps worth getting an Appleton style assistant in to help him. -

It feels like a reach but he's clearly a well respected coach to have the role he has at Man City under Pep. Not got a great history as the main man but he's still young for a manager. Depends whether he's got the eye for detail that Pep has. -

Adi Hutter was supposed to be in the UK looking for a Prem job. Unless Palace come knocking we could be the best offer he gets in England. He'd be a great coach for us. The Maresca rumours kind of feel like clubs hoping to find another Arteta. -
It won't help certainly but one of the key reasons we fell foul of financial fair play and had to cut back on spending was Covid. With that increasingly behind us we should be able to invest a little more or soak up some of the damage from being in the Championship. The issue will be the interest on the financing loans we have and those were set against Premiership TV money we won't have anymore. More than one season will see us have to sell off any last players on good salaries.

Would we notice the difference?

Iverson will be fine for the Championship. He's still got room for improvement. I'd move Ward on but I don't think there will be any takers. If Ward isn't moved on there's not much point going after another good keeper and having all those resources tied up.

Sell those out of contract next summer who aren't staying at the start of the window as a priority. Use that cash to start reinforcing the squad per the new manager's vision. Will leave the ones with more than 12 months on their contract we can play hard ball with and try to extract the best price. I'd be tempted to hold out on Maddison a little longer though as an exception to the rule as there's likely to be two or three clubs chasing him.
