I hold the BBC to a high standard, because it is THE standard, which makes this very disappointing. They are not perfect but they are much much better that this shit. We certainly know they are mostly male, and mostly adult male. We know roughly half (so far) are eventually granted asylum, and in the meantime they are housed, clothed and fed by the taxpayer. This is an interesting point, and why as a finance exec I have turned down the chance to work in health and aged care several times, not wanting to be in the position where the balance to find was profit vs care. In commercial sector we strive to find a position where the value of our products and services is shared between us as the supplier and the customer business as the end user. Where the end user is a patient, that balance is harder to find. Some would argue that the best care should be provided always, but of course that is not possible for all but the wealthiest private payers. Your comment about size is interesting too - I suspect the benefits of scale which being the NHS should give you are in fact not achieved - in spending power etc, which the disbenefits - complexity, slow decision making, poor outcomes due to lack of accountability - are endemic. Personally I would split it into care giving and commercial services. Both bodies public, but one nationwide focussed on providing the infrastructure - facilities, support services etc, and the other localised focussed on health outcomes containing all the medical professionals and support.

Yes, no one is impacted at all by this issue, there is no suggestion she is a bad landlord - this is a scheme in place to stop bad landlord letting shitty accommodation. It's an interesting point, and I think it is to do with the fact that most people don't have an issue with asylum seekers who come through proper channels. They do have an issue with those arriving illegally by boat, the vast majority of whom are clearly young men looking for work. They then have more of an issue at these young men being 1) unable to work while the government takes years to process their claims, 2) put up in hotels in large numbers, and then 3) hang around and cause trouble as young men do when bored and in groups (recognising the trouble oftem looks for them). Unfortunately, there are plenty who are too stupid to see that the government is responsible for all of that apart from the arrival in the first place, and in fact are also largely to blame for failing to stop that as well. So they blame the migrants instead.

A big factor on EEE will be determining how much investment is required to actually start production, as variation in that has a big impact on what your stake in the early stages is worth. I can tell you getting mines to production recently in WA has been hugely expensive, often double expected costs, and years delayed. Labour government and rights of traditional custodians make permitting difficult, and construction costs remain very high. Its literally a gamble.
