  1. It's only a matter of weeks that we will be able to claim this. I'm astounded they haven't won the League Cup in 33 years. I know it's the least lucrative/important of the tournaments they're in, but still, given they've been top 5 in the Prem more or less without fail since Wenger joined, that is quite poor.
  2. It's an American term. I've heard of rapini before, but had no clue this was the US English term for it. Would never have guessed the pronunciation of it either. Furthermore, if it wasn't for my footballing knowledge I wouldn't have been able to guess the link either. I'll stop being a sore loser now
  3. Connections Puzzle #1016 🟪🟪🟪🟦 🟪🟪🟦🟪 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟪🟪🟪 It's as if they insist on some form of Americanisation each time had no idea what broccoli rabe was.
  4. Wild, with Waregem, Cercle winning too and La Louviere in a mad draw as well. Relief.
  5. Another US category. Getting quite annoying at this point.
  6. Cause we win sweet **** all(mond)?
  7. Yeah, complete blanked on this one. Another US centric category. Upset I didn't get blue though, struggled to think of the fourth one. Connections Puzzle #1013 🟨🟪🟪🟦 🟪🟨🟪🟪 🟨🟨🟨🟪 🟪🟨🟨🟪

  9. Yeah stumbled on these a few months ago, they're super groovy and fresh sounding.
  10. Denmark need to get there first Riemer has actually coaxed Rønnow out of international retirement - that's how little he trusts Hermansen (who's not yet made his debut) for the do-or-die playoffs.
  11. In the context of the match and the tournament as a whole (towel gate, hotels etc) then it's a very suspicious call. Three other Senegalese players are probably being fouled more than what the Senegalese player is adjudged to have fouled Hakimi. The ref blows the whistle before the goal is scored too, giving VAR no chance to review the goal either. Couple that with Diaz' flop for their penalty, where the ref DOESN'T blow (thus giving VAR the chance to intervene) and the Moroccans hound the ref afterwards, you can understand the frustration and reaction of the Senegalese bench who must've have felt conspired against.
  12. Judge for yourself. I think Hakimi falls to ground a bit too easily and at the very least he's just as guilty of fouling the Mali player as the other way around. Weak call.

  14. Disagree. Morocco had it on a plate and wasted it. The goal was worthy of winning the title and Morocco as 'organisers' were crossing the line with what is acceptable treatment of teams as a host. The way the stewards got involved into physical altercations with opposition players and failing to protect them/do their job should have been penalised in itself. While I understand and accept the walking off was not correct, you can totally understand where it comes from. You can only provoke so much without getting a reaction and to disallow what would probably have been the winner in the final minute, for what was absolutely not a foul, and then compounding it with a last gasp penalty against you, it certainly adds some valid context to the matter. Again, the authorities' failure to handle things leading up to all these incidents is where the blame should ultimately be. To reverse a sporting result like this, feels very hollow and insincere.
  15. What a sad way to end his career, if this is it. Probably explains his poor form since the Scotland qualifier. Probably ill-advised to soldier on when he sustained the injury in that game.
  16. Are you trained in the green group?

  18. It looks like you got fooled for the first guess as well! Tbh, it made me think if I had misremembered (I hadn't), which makes it even worse that it wasn't accepted.
  19. The standard of defending is astonishing. The equaliser was such a poor goal to concede. But the way we completely lose faith and courage in attack is arguably worse. Vestergaard or Lascelles can't come back quick enough, nor Begovic. I'm tried of our centerbacks taking turns to make major gaffes EVERY game and Stolarczyk doing Kinsky impressions.
  20. Incredible how we've thrown away this game from a great position. I'm somewhat surprised after our confidence boosting win and otherwise encouraging results that we put up such a weak performance today.
  21. Why? It's a matter of fact, so whether you agree or disagree makes it irrelevant.
  22. Does it matter?

  24. You couldn't think of any recent Academy products that are 'mentally resilient', so I just reeled off a few, while pointing out you missed the obvious (Hamza) and the already mentioned KDH. Do you have a point re: working on the mental part of Academy players today? Maybe. I find it difficult to judge. My initial thought is that I see nothing really untoward with the Academy players that have made the first team. Actually, the fact we're blooding very young players like Monga, Page, Evans suggests to me that we are preparing Academy players better mentally for first team exposure?
  25. It's slightly amusing when our very last game featured an Academy product who captained our team 😅 If you're going all the way back to Heskey, then we've had Richard Stearman, Andy King, Alan Sheehan, Max Gradel and Liam Moore have all captained senior teams - that's just off the top of my head. Players like Bassey, Hirst and Kipre have all progressed to a similar or higher level despite being discarded here.
