Ha ha sounds fun. I didn't do that one, just as well by sound of it. Talking of London games, i did Leyton orient that season too and remember we outnumbered the home fans. If i recall they were shifted from their usual stand so that there was room for us all. Obviously after bumper gate receipts . Weird ground that. Fairly modern but there were apartments in the corners of the ground overlooking the pitch.

Slightly off topic....only slightly. My favourite away days were when we were in league one. Getting on for the last chance to visit old style grounds with terracing. Very few remain these days. The standout ones I did were layer road (Colchester), Edgar Street (Hereford), millmoor (Rotherham ). Proper old tin roof grounds with turnstiles not designed for anyone with more than a 26inch waist. Modern stadiums are much of a muchness these days. Much better view and facilities but not so much character . That said I liked Stamford Bridge. It's strange to see a football ground in such a wealthy nice area.

Fair enough mate. I'm in agreement that more needs to be done to attract younger fans and the next generation .

First...I agree that the club aren't doing enough to encourage and enable young people and kids to attend . They are the next generation and are priced out, can't get tickets as a group and need an adult to attend with them. But it's not the fault of the older fans. Those in 40s 50s and even 60s have likely been part of a hard core of 9000 that attended Filbert Street in the late 80s, stood on excitable terraces and created an atmosphere that would make some on here cream their pants at lots of games. we have been home and away to some shit holes, herded onto trains in the dark days, had punch ups at stations or around the ground (and I don't mean we were wannabe hooligans, it simply wasn't avoidable sometimes) and likely attended their first game before some scroat with a smart phone who is upset there are no "limbs" to film was even born. Older fans have every right to be there and trust me a lot of us were a lot wilder than you see today.

Absolutely agree. And until this season anyone under 16 couldn't attend without an adult, putting a stop to a bunch of 14 and 15 year olds going as a group, which me and my mates used to do, along with many others, and we made a racket. Even those in late teens and early twenties are highly likely to be on a training or apprentice wage, or a student, and the cost of a ticket, not to mention membership and the improbability of getting a load of tickets together will take too much of a chunk out of wages to do it regularly. This will all affect the noise and atmosphere at grounds. The lack of terracing is also a contributing factor as like minded groups could gather together. But this isn't just a Leicester thing. It seems common around other grounds too.

I think everyone has a limit as to what they will pay for things. Even if you can afford it, you still think its not worth it. I can afford a tenner but I wouldn't pay that for say, a bag of chips. I'd rather go without. I'm about at my limit as to what I can afford and what I'm prepared to pay for football tickets as I've posted on here before. I can't be the only one and as much as I preferred the championship to the Premier league there's no way I'd pay £50 to watch us against the likes of Watford or Bristol City if we are relegated because that's the reality. They never put prices down do they

Agree. There may well be another 15-20k people out there who "follow the city". Whether or not many of them are prepared to fork out 50 quid plus for a ticket every other week and an odd midweek, is an entirely different matter

I'm not surprised games aren't selling out fast. Tickets are at a level now where people are prepared to say no. I am anyway. I went to villa which was cat b and begrudged paying what I did. I just went to buy tickets for the forest game and it was £82.50 for me and young un and I thought what am i doing. I couldn't bring myself to pay it. In excess of £50 for my ticket. Just not doing it. And there was a time when I wouldnt have even considered missing a game against forest. It's not so much I can't afford it, although I admit it isnt easy and would eat into money for other things I like to do...for me it's just a mental thing. Over 50 quid (72 in some areas) for one game of football. It might be for some, but for me it just isn't worth it. I've been going away more regularly past two seasons and tickets cost far less (granted they are capped) To put into perspective, and I've said this in another thread, i can go away for 3 quid more than a home game, that's with travel, which I could probably reduce further with a bit more effort, and I get a full day, "new" ground and better atmosphere. I'm just going to go away when I can get a ticket rather than predominantly home and a few away like in years gone by. I also take some comfort from the fact that having priced me out, more or less, Leicester city aren't getting my money if I go away games. Im assuming it just goes to the home club (correct me if I'm wrong) who no doubt overcharge their own fans but for me it's a f*#k you to the club. A little win I suppose.

Hopefully. Youth prices might make them sell quicker though. Southampton took the piss with theirs

It's ticked off my list but wouldn't go back I don't think. That said I've been to Barnsley 3 times after being mugged for my fags by burly grown men as a 16 year old the first time, so never say never 🤣. Terrible journey, terrible view. Atmosphere was ok ish I thought. Didn't help that the blocks were separated by large walk ways. Each block a bit disconnected from each other I thought.

Not a fan of Cooper's set up and defensive mindedness. A third goal at 2-1 would have likely killed the game. To go ultra defensive invited pressure which cost us in the end. Oh and whoever designed and decided to install the low hanging TV gantry, you owe me £15. Half the price for half the view!🤣. One and done ground for me this one.
