Wouldn’t be surprised to see Andy Fisher come in as number 1 this summer. RM had him at MK initially and he was a massive part of his system, he then took him to Swansea with Harry Darling (another he might consider depending on his game time at Norwich) AF was back up last season and only played once so you’d imagine at 28yo he’d jump at the chance for regular league one football under RM

That’s our hope! He’s had enough time to reflect post Rangers and as we all do you become better with experience- He’s still only 40 and in his 5-6th year of management - It also might play into our hands that because his Rangers spell went that badly for him that he’s had to look at tweaking things ready for his next opportunity. I agree re the scarring of previous Southampton players here But it’s a reality of where we are: if we had a midfield 3 of Smallbone, Braybrooke and Page/Aasgard I’d back us to finally create and score goals from midfield again! Bazunu again understandably written off given his recent performances would be a competent league 1 goalkeeper and would suit us more so than a Begovic in this system would

Trying to be positive then… - Historically plays youth/builds young careers - Clear playing style - Needs this job to go well to recover reputation/get a future opportunity! ( as much as we do too) - Should be able to bring in former players that should be too good for the level we’re at I’d really value him owning the fact that he’s not a popular appointment in his first interview, we’re a club that recently tends to perform better when written off.

How good will the adrenaline filled full time Russ Martin fist pumps be away at MK Dons in front of 4500 fans? One view is that he’s had time away from the game to analyse, reflect and review his previous two jobs and we hope and pray to get a Russ Martin with fire in his belly ready to prove a point! I remember Sean Dyche saying that he became a better manager after being sacked because he had time to refresh and breathe without the pressures of being in the game. He’s played youth previously at MK dons, Swansea and Southampton and his Brendan/Man City playing style is right up Top’s street! 🙄 One things for certain, we’d need a lot of player turnover because I can’t see many of the current mob being able to play the way he’d want us to.

Seems an odd one this with Arteta’s obsession with having hard working wingers to support their full backs and defend deep. Obviously this isn’t going to be the starting 11 that I’ve put together here but if all of these lads were massively involved in pre-season and next season then I think I’d be able to wake up and look forward to going to our games again! Naturally mixed in with 3-4 experienced heads ( Ben Mee’s out of contract, I think he’d run our dressing room brilliantly!) and then unfortunately a handful of players that we can’t shift!

The Captain said before the game ‘ Right lads, first things first we don’t care about the chance of Leicester winning the league tonight, we’re here to play cricket’ They batted first and got 121 in 20 overs I went into bat at number 9- Oppo wicketkeeper sledging me ‘he won’t be here long lads’ They were absolutely right, first ball, straight and full into my middle stump as I stood there and left it - walked off smiling and got out of there quick enough at full time to make it home for the last 30 minutes! An hour later we’re down Raw Dykes road leaning out of my mates car hugging and cheers’ing random people! What a night!
