He's been able to manage his club’s finances "properly" because their first four seasons in the PL they were an uncompetitive lower table side just surviving, during which the PSR rules were tightened and they were able to adapt; before a couple of really good seasons and a handful of huge sales to the Super League clubs. It's an entirely different context and set of circumstances to ours and comparing the two ignores our own circumstances such as where we were at the time PSR affected us - challenging for the Champions League places and in the high end of domestic and European competitions - the money we had spent, the contracts we were committed to and the long-term financial strategy that had been built around sustained success and growth.
