  1. Can I nievely just ask what the problem is with them? I'd never heard of them tbh so just looked them up. They just seem to be a Thai petrochemical company. Is it something that they particularly do as a company that you object to or just merely the nature of their type of business? Genuine question. 👍🏻
  2. Absolutely agree. Everything started incredibly well. Depression lifted, new players, old one's revitalised, discipline, new system, better fitness. However, when a new system works well initially, don't be surprised when other managers study it and find ways to negate it, it's their job, even with poorer teams. It's then when a genuinely good manager adapts or changes his tactics either before or even mid game. We will have to wait until next season to see if Enzo has the nous and minerals to do this or be a one trick pony like Kompany. The Premiership is made up of far more than just Manchester City and a Arsenal. There are a number of mediocre teams who we should be capable of competing with a good manager and some half decent incoming players. What we don't need is another Rodgers clone of all philosophy and no knickers. Sometimes you have to win without the beautiful game.
  3. And Ipswich? Are there many of their players if any that would leap straight into our team? I think McKenna has surpassed Enzo quite convincingly with what he had to work with including injuries.
  4. McKenna? Seemed to do it well with an on paper inferior side.
  5. Absolutely. Next season will tell us how good or not he actually is.
  6. You'd like to hope that Top couldn't be so dopey twice wouldn't you?
  7. Let him go quickly, waste of space.
  8. Sounds like a frothy coffee at Starbucks!
  9. The point with Kompany is that despite spending over 100m in the summer, he persisted with a 'philosophy' that his players couldn't fulfil. Brentford I agree to some extent but, without the goals of their suspended main striker and injuries, having not spent any money it should be expected. Forest's previous line of recruitment seemed to be akin to throwing a dart at a dart board and choosing quite a few other clubs failures and others from the lucky bag section. Luton didn't seemingly invest at all for their own club reasons but had a good go I suppose. You surely can't deny that Pep has champagne players, sometimes 2 or 3 in a number of positions with the skill sets and intelligence to adapt. I'm not for one minute saying that it's all about money, because it takes an exceptional manager to organise, continually motivate and mould them. What I am saying is that if you haven't got those sort of players, you can't necessarily adopt a highly skilled fast moving level of possession football. Sometimes, as we've found out this year from a number of opposition managers, you have to adapt and stifle the opposition or seek out a different way. Kompany in this respect seemed a one trick pony with a rinse and repeat idealistic attitude. I do agree however that the Premiership appears to have leagues within leagues and even this year we might have survived. Next year we'll be promoted with 3 of this year's counterparts. We will all make purchases as will existing Premiership clubs (though in our case who knows what the budget will be like). Nevertheless, to survive, Enzo, for the good of the team, will at times will have to adapt and sometimes suppress his inner Pep. It will be more about survival, less about the beautiful game! The latter, if he wants it, is best attained over a longer period of time and a few transfer windows. He needs as a young manager to learn how to walk before he can run.
  10. I'm afraid to me that's pie in the sky. Top couldn't give Enzo what he wants even if he wanted to, the rules don't allow it. Even potential moneybags Sheikhs at Newcastle can't give Howe that. You can't usually play champagne and oyster football with beer and chips players, anyone remember Paolo Sousa? Enzo can't play Pep Guadiola football without Manchester City players. See Vincent Kompany re this also. I think Enzo has some great attributes but also spouts some pretentious utter bollocks at times. Yes, possession football is to some extent the way forward but not possession for possession's sake like the Rodgers offering. It's what you do with the possession that counts. Against Southampton we had only 30%+ type possession and scored 5 goals, spookily a bit like 2015/16, what's that all about? Did they just ignore the manager for the night after Vardy's team talk or was it just poor tactics by the Southampton manager? I still maintain that whilst it's nice to have an underlying identity, a good manager is one that utilises and plays to the strengths of the players that he's actually got and not those that he wishes to have. You couldn't back in the day play Barcelona football without Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets and Messi and if you played them and tried to copy or match them toe to toe they'd murder you! With the squad we've had compared to say Ipswich, we should absolutely have been vying for promotion. There will undoubtedly be some new incomings in the summer and Enzo will clearly instill his systems and tactics into them. This is good but he's also got to have learned from this season himself and kick on too. If he, like Kompany, is trying to emulate a manager like Pep then they need to realise that Pep isn't one dimensional, his systems and tactics are adaptable and changeable and Enzo too needs to adapt to the opposition before him sometimes and not try and play a 'one style fits all' brand of football regardless of the ability of his players. Style over substance just won't cut it, it's partly what got us relegated in the first place! Regardless of the perhaps pressure off mentality yesterday, the football itself was a good example of the repetitive crap that will see us beaten soundly next year. A poor manager like Rodgers blames the tools he has to work with. Enzo had a good squad this year. I never heard McKenna moaning, he just quietly went about his business without any pretentiousness. I'm 50/50 re Enzo but for now behind him. He also needs to learn and progress too.
  11. He's been a good servant to us over the years. He was poor today and has been for a while I think. I feel that in his current role when in the Championship he can just about get away with it but the Premiership is a much different proposition. Sadly, time to move on I think.
  12. Why would he want to show any loyalty to the car crash of a manager and team he came to, loyalty has to be earned. I think in his position I'd have wanted away too. The attitude of a large number of those around him at that time stunk!
  13. Viagra ... in case we come straight back down?
  14. You'll be fine for a lift home then!
  15. Yes I agree, though we did fine with Huth and Morgan didn't we but that was as much to do with the players and tactics in front of him. If we were to look at Doyle and Vestergaard as being slow, then if Vestergaard does leave, there'll be a vacancy for someone who can pass well in Enzo's system. Doyle however would ideally need a responsible experienced head next to him and I don't see Faes being that. In fact he needs one next to him!
  16. Remember that, me too! Wasilewski had been a particular favourite of mine and just what we needed at a particular point in time. He made me laugh too at some of what he got away with and the innocent look on his face. A particular class moment though was him walking off the pitch at the end of one game. Out of the corner of his eye he must have caught the sight of a young lad smiling at him and waving his arms from a wheelchair in the disabled supporters section. Wasilewski stopped in his tracks, changed direction and walked across the pitch to him. He gave him a big hug then took his shirt off and gave it to him and waved to him as he walked off. The young lad was so excited, it really made his day! Class.
  17. Not all centre halves have or need pace, it seems to be a modern mindset more than a reality. Thiago, VanDyke, Terry, Beresi, Maldini, Cannavarro and even our own Jonny Evans, there's a whole host from different countries and different era's that never had pace but you'd give your right arm to have even in the modern game. Less about pace, more about reading the game and positioning. Some made themselves look faster than they actually were because of those attributes which essentially gave them a few yards start! With the odd exception of the likes of Usain Bolt, a big 6'4" lad rarely beats a thinner athletic 5'9" one. Neither do you want a midget at centre half. Horses for courses. As for Doyle he's still very young. He's still learning some of those attributes but his passing ability is very evident when allowed to use it. All depends on his price I suppose. However, any new one that we're likely to be able to afford is going to be a risk in the Premiership in Enzo's system if they've got to learn it anew pre-season. I think Nelson given the opportunity looks very promising.
  18. And Huth and Morgan ... oh and Simpson and Fuchs ... not so much Silva 😕.
  19. We'll just have to see. The trouble is we just haven't got a clue what our financial situation actually is. I think there's been a lot of media guesswork been going on. In an ideal world, if we could get by without selling all well and good, but the next best scenario I suppose is that we sold him, avoided a points deduction and we regrouped. Spurious I know but my son plays football with someone on the coaching staff at Leicester. Allegedly he wanted out last summer but it was denied but intends to go of his own choice this time. Whether promotion would have changed his mind or whether we have to sell him anyway is anyone's guess I suppose. I know his close control can let him down at times but his all round attributes as a team player make up for that for me.
  20. Can't see it personally. Even if they needed another midfielder, I don't think he fits their profile of 'usually buy young and cheap or with a good chance of later profit'. I think KDH is quite exposed now in terms of what he can and cannot do and possibly even his market value for his age now. He's never going to be a top player sought-after by real top clubs like some of Brighton's other purchases. I think previously that they may have been interested on the cheap. I doubt we'd get much over 20m for him, 25m at a push with add ons. We'll see. In an ideal world we'd keep him though but just can't see it happening.
  21. Can't see any of them paying 30m either! In fact I can't think of anyone paying that amount for him.
  22. Susan Whelan at the ready!
  23. Very good to read Erabil! I've only ever met a handful of Algerians but it has to be said, they were all fanatical about football. The first Algerian player I remember talking about was Ali Bernabia from Manchester City. Riyad was an incredible talent, the likes of which we're unlikely to see again. Having said that, although not Algerian of course, I do think Abdul Fatawu could become quite special, some people seem to forget how very young he is. I just hope it's with us. Keep believing Erabil!
  24. I'd feel that important I'd want him to shit for me!
