True. However, the current idea isn't actually up to very much. However flawed, no doubt persistence will be the order of the day.

Enzo Out? Time for an official thread/poll
volpeazzurro replied to SecretPro's topic in Leicester City Forum
We've seen this all before, it was a slow demise to relegation under the last incumbent yet it was easy to see it happening almost from the start. Unless Enzo swiftly alters his personal agenda then surely we're heading into similar waters? -
Only if he changed his stubborn philosophy 🙄
-
With the exception of Mcateer who I think is a waste of a shirt, I'd back that team to have a go now to the end of the season. With a different manager of course for some inspiration! Would miss Mads though, think he will develop into something special.
-
They can be as sound of mind as you want, but if they persist with the same one trick pony tactics that everyone, even the poorest teams can read like a book now, it will make diddly squat difference. It would be like putting a sticking plaster over a broken leg.
-
Yep, I too thought we'd managed to get rid of a lot of duds to leave us fitter and leaner. Sadly there's a few more to go yet with a doubtful attitude along with another stubborn egotistical manager.

Enzo Out? Time for an official thread/poll

The club couldn't afford to sack him even if they wanted to most probably. Even if they could or wanted to, Top would still dither again for another 18 months! -
Whilst I agree with the main tenets of what you've said in general terms, compared to most other Championship teams, who have the same amount of games to play, Leicester have a strong squad of players. We can all pick weakness in certain individuals but, do we really think we have a weaker squad than say Millwall or Plymouth? It's Maresca that's chosen not to rotate his players adequately, players like Coady and Souttar would be first choice for most teams! Iheancho, Cannon, Albrighton and Akgun are shoe ins for most other teams, that's half a team! Sometimes you have to slightly alter your tactics to get the best out of the players you actually have available on any particular day. Is it really that complex a concept for managers like Maresca and Rodgers? Less concentration on personal self indulgent philosophies, more thought about winning football matches with what you've got. Style over substance will never last, it will merely turn and bite you in the arse! Management of games in terms of substitutions to either change the game or replace tired legs with fresh one's has also been poor. So stop whining Enzo, not only is it the same for every other team in the Championship, some with far weaker squads than ours, you have to recognise that you're part of the problem too!
-
Is there a staring 11? It's certainly a different tactic!
-
Absolutely. Excuses Excuses. We've also a player in Albrighton who can play left or right wing if tiredness is a great issue, your guaranteed 100% grit and work rate with crosses into the box!
-
I was thinking more along the lines of: ENZO SVEGLIATI! (Enzo wake up).
-
Perhaps we have to wait until he's concerned for him to do something about it! Someone needs to creep up behind him and stick a pin in a balloon to see if the surprise wakes him up a bit! 🤣
-
Whilst I totally agree with both, I think it's far too revolutionary for our manager! Coady for Faes and I'd leave Ndidi out and play Iheanacho with Vardy. It worked really well before under Rodgers which must have really annoyed him at the time because he was almost forced, due to injury, to play Iheanacho and the bugger kept scoring making it difficult for Rodgers to drop him again! 🤣🤣 Iheanacho is fresh and when Vardy tires bring Cannon on!

Is this the most stressful season as a Leicester fan ?

I agree. To not get promoted after such a commanding lead, with a squad of players better than most in the Championship, albeit those players have to take some responsibility, for me, to surrender such a lead, would largely have to be down to neglectful and stubborn management. The apparent inability to adapt formations, tactics or substitutions to live time situations is annoyingly similar to the last manager. Hopefully we have enough individual talent in the squad to limp over the line in order to get that pot of gold to enable us to secure our future against FFP uncertainty but, the frustration for me is the deja vu that if Maresca doesn't change his ways, it will merely be rinse and repeat. After Puel and Rodgers, it's starting to wear a little bit thin and you have to question Top's ability in picking a leader. He seems a sucker for bull****! -
Unfortunately Praet goes nowhere near a 50/50. He can occasionally have a deft touch but hardly influences a game, doesn't bust a gut and doesn't get stuck in. Neither use nor ornament really. I'd sooner have Albrighton in there somewhere, at least he'll put a shift in for the cause. I'm sure in the eyes of someone like Enzo, Praet must look technically gifted in training but, in a real match he's just a big girls blouse!

“We will get better as the season goes on”
volpeazzurro replied to Stevosevic's topic in Leicester City Forum
Many of the teams around us didn't make earth shattering January transfers either. It's not that that's effected us massively, it's the adherence to the same old tired system, with the same players doing exactly the same thing regardless of opposition or flow of play in the game. One look at the players in our squad compared to most opposition teams is enough to determine that we should be currently doing better than we actually are. -

I think it has shades of Rodgers when we were sitting 5th. The table looks good but, for those watching the performances, you could see that the position flattered to deceive however much the pundits were swooning, you could see with your own eyes that the foundations were made of sand and that things were going to collapse. Many of the wins were gained by moments of excellent play by talented individuals within a squad superior to that of the opposition. Sometimes those players, particularly towards the end of the game broke rank and forgot or ignored their original instructions! However, individuality cannot consistently win, team performances win matches over a longer period of time, see 2015/16 for a good example of that theory. Flawed systems and stubborn adherence to pie in the sky philosophies will catch you out. If we were to view Enzo as Pep lite, then the theory of his philosophy is right but ... firstly you have to have the right calibre of players to consistently carry it off but, most importantly, if things appear to be taking a turn for the worst, Pep isn't afraid to change both players and tactics during a game. He even evaluates each opposition team in advance and tweeks the system if required beforehand! Would Enzo play 4 centre halves? Would Enzo play without a striker or recognised wingers? Peps possession and pressing style of football is like a base recipe. Whilst it is a vital starting point, he adds or takes away certain ingredients on any given day to try and attain the perfect taste. He doesn't just continually serve up the same old bland repetitive meal that other chefs can look at and provide a better alternative on a particular day. Bugger, I got a bit carried away there 🤣. Think I'll do a ring stinging curry tonight, at least it will be a bit more uplifting and exciting than the same old spaghetti bolognese every night!- 64 replies

When Vardy and Albrighton finish, very possibly at the end of this season, it will definitely be the end of an era, possibly the best in the clubs history. Part of the heart of the club will be leaving too for good. It remains to be seen what is left due the well demonstrated incompetence of those in charge. Who knows what playing staff will remain after a potential fire sale. Either way, it seems quite difficult to feel as connected to the club compared to the past few decades, though in fairness, that's probably as much to do with the way football has gone in general in a number of ways. I've spoken to a few people who are for the first time considering not renewing their season tickets which is a shame in one way but at the same time, gives an opportunity to others, I'm sure they'd be snapped up. I don't think this a usual occurrence because most City fans are by nature used to the incredible ups and downs at it typifies our history. However, this time it feels a bit different somehow? Usually being top of the league, any league, at this time of the season, is a cause for optimism and excitement however, the pending departure of the two aforementioned players coupled with what will be an ongoing mess and uncertainty all over the summer and well beyond into our future, may be a journey too far for some. Contrary to some opinion, I don't think the true Leicester fanbase is entitled or expecting of too much now. I think they just crave a manager and players who seem accessible and who are prepared to bust a gut, give their best and be loyal to the cause. I think we had all that with Vardy and co but through poor management and oversight at the club it's dying a death.
-
👍🏻 didn't realise that.
-
I agree. If say Nike learned of his runs for charity and chose to support him by sending him a pair of trainers to run in where's the harm?
-
Totally agree. If he could score for Preston he should be able to do it for us. I'm not saying start him necessarily but a run of coming on in the second half should be doable. Daka has hardly been pulling up any trees and whether we're in Championship or Premiership next season, we need to know what we're going to do with him. Iheanacho and Vardy could be gone and you certainly wouldn't want to rely upon Daka!
-
Try looking at what he did last season too?
-
Yet in the last game I gave Doyle mom because he was doing precisely that! It caught the opposition out on several occasions, mixed things up and led to several attacks. Without such play we are so one dimensional and predictable which has been a large part of our problems.
-
I absolutely agree but whether he's suitable is a different matter. The lack of a proper goalscorer is arguably Arsenal's weak point this season and even then he can't get a regular place in the side. I doubt he'd be reasonably priced either for our situation.
