That was going well until the assumption that if he came here he'd have better players around him 🤣
-
Doesn't matter really, even an old telephone box is likely to score more than Daka or Ayew!
-
I've not seen anything last season to suggest that any player would improve under this manager and coaching staff or even playing alongside some of our bunch of chumps.
-
Because a lot of the time they weren't and if the opposition had had half competent Premiership standard strikers we'd have taken several drubbing! However, we did have a good strike force who could take chances and did. It was very noticeable in our blip that it was the lower not so good teams that caused us problems and lost us points because they just sat back and let us have the ball and against such opposition we were largely dull and useless.
-
I understand and yes, you do have to plan for the level your at but in the last two seasons we've had players that used effectively, had the talent to get the results without sticking to a now getting found out tiring system. Pep has the ability to adapt and change whereas I seem to think that Maresca and Kompany are starting to look like copycat limited one trick ponies. It's just that they have the money and squads to scrape out points but once they've been found out, they'll have shot their bolt.

With Enzo you could at least see discipline and a system that all the players seemed to believe in. That 'Pep Light' style was largely dull though and would have seen us relegated also because you can't expect to 'outpremiership' premier league teams. Enzo would have failed because his players (ours) wouldn't have been good enough. You simply can't play champagne and oyster football with beer and chips players. There's a reason Forest and Villa had good seasons and that's because they didn't conform to the latest fad dull football. Yes, we got promoted with Enzo but it was largely a bit of a drag.

Stopped watching it quite some time ago tbh. Premiership football is so overhyped now and most of it very dull. I think some of the Champions League football in comparison has been far more entertaining.

He wasn't set up for sale that's a complete myth. If he wasn't aware of Leicester's PSR situation and therefore there being little or no money, he must be thicker than a thick thing. It was all over the national press for Christ's sake. If he's that ill informed no wonder he's been bloody useless!

Disregarding results, Dyche's football can't be any worse than what we've been watching for the last two seasons, it's been excruciatingly dull and frustrating. Even hoof ball can give some moments of excitement rather than the possession for possessions sake backwards and sideways brain numbing crap that's been a cure for insomnia.

He's probably thinking of Rohl Dhal because he heard he talks a good story but spelled his name wrong?
-
Though I would like to have Keane for a couple of months just to handle the likes of Winks and Vestergaard etc 🤣. I think he'd definitely burst the bubble of them thinking that they're better than they actually are!
-
It's a big ask but if it get the deal over the line I'll think he'll snap their hands off!
-
Unfortunately I think they're only offering 10k, a crate of McEwans lager and a deep fried Mars bar deal. Probably a fair amount now. Its a bit like going to Saudi but without the money.

Stephy Mavididi (no real rumour, some clubs "interested.")

He started well and faded badly. Not good enough for the Championship. We've got better first choice and up and coming youngsters that we don't want stifling by him. Not particularly fast, can't beat his man, poor positioning and often caught in two minds. Just another backwards and sideways merchant. Does however have a good attitude which is more than can be said for some of the others. -
I agree entirely, couldn't fit it all in and was afraid of getting carted off if I had a complete melt down 🤣. For me he makes Taylor just look like an incompetent innocent.
-
Because Rodgers inherited an excellent squad of players, demolished it whilst spending £250m in the process and with the exception of Fofana, none of his and Congerton's choices made the grade. He changed recruitment, medical, coaching and various other staff behind the scenes and is largely responsible for the position we now find ourselves in. Admittedly, some of this could have been mitigated had we not got the useless Top in charge of the club.

I suppose as always it will depend on who our manager is and whether he wants to play to the strengths of our players or, whether he wants to be Pep light and bang on about how HE thinks the game should be played and his 'philosophy' 🥱😴. Depending on who leaves (hopefully about half of them, with the exception of El Khannouss, Nelson, Fatawu and perhaps a couple of others), if there isn't a huge points deduction, we'd stand a very good chance of being in or around the playoffs I think. All dependant on manager and discipline and attitude.

That took some time, about as quick and effective as he is in the final third of the pitch!

LCFC - Family Night Football memories/photos?

This is how I blooded my kids. Having said that, my daughter was a bit disappointed at her first proper match against West Ham as there were no fireworks, Foxyladies or Walkers crisps being thrown at her 😆. Are we not missing a trick? Surely it's not all about the 'corporate' and 'customers', it's about building a young supporter base, a future comprising of different ages to keep or get the club thriving. It's not just us I'm sure but, the soul and commitment in football is, I'm afraid, beginning to die. The hype is starting to outstrip the product. The sense of belonging is starting to fade. The draw of grassroots football is getting stronger, certainly for me. If my son hadn't wanted to have one last shot to see if things improve in the Championship, then personally after all these decades I would have backed out this time. -

A fair comment. It was a very poor I'll thought out move all round. -
At the start of every season, the club will have been aware of what our incomings would be in terms of media money, sponsorship and to a large extent, forthcoming ticket sales bar cup runs. They will know what their outgoings were in terms of players wages etc. They would know which players would be out of contract and perhaps even who they wanted to sell and the likely income from those sales. This is surely basic accounting for any business? Agreed that some things regarding finances to a lesser extent might not have been known but we're not talking about a couple of million pounds here and there, our lot were hugely out of pocket year after year! We may or may not like PSR for various reasons but our problems are down to incompetent accounting, we are the authors of our own downfall. What really bothers me is that this has been allowed to happen for years. Top MUST have known and either chose to ignore it or he was complicit in it like an out of control gambler. He's either very poor in business or stupid. The book stops with him for me. Do people think we'd have been in the same situation under his father?
-
He showed a lot of signs of dropping off in his last two years with us. Fortunately the Villa doctors science were able to wean him off the bone idol pills he'd been on!
-
😱 are you confessing on Foxtalk?
-
Doesn't stop you sounding candidates out and merely telling them that we can't officially be interested or sign you before a certain date would it. You don't have to literally sit on your hands and not be proactive behind the scenes do you!

Despite what frustrated Middlesbrough fans may think, the reality is that in player terms, I don't think he had much to play with tbh. Like many managers now, when they first arrive they appear to do a very good job. Carrick was no different and there were quite a number on here who would have willingly had him. As time passes and players get comfortable and cliques start in the dressing room, managers seem to lose their influence. Carrick is no different. Beggars (us) can no longer be choosers. There's not going to be many managers out there that would want to come here! The club is a mess, that much is quite transparent now and yet again we face a potential points deduction, which is hardly a sweetener! Some blue tinted folk don't quite seem to accept it. I don't think Dyche, like Potter, would touch us at present. As for Carrick I don't know but I'd far sooner have him than Russell Martin!
