He obviously needs more than a couple of (very underwhelming) games to prove himself - he's not been helped by the recruitment team slapping each other's arses rather than finding him defenders capable of playing his style - if the board have hung their hat on him they have to have some conviction and give him the players they think will work, but they can't be just signing lads he wants/knows for the sake of it, moreso given the way we turnover managers Thats the bigger red flag for me, the signings who are clearly "his" in Cullen and McCarthy look pretty shite

Very odd run last night, went out with the intention of doing 10 miles, did 2km casually then realised I was feeling alright so tried to nab a sub 40 min 10km, finished on bloody 40 mins 30s. Definitely could have done it if I'd left with the intention, very annoying but good to know its v v doable if I go out for it Got my fastest 5km amongst it mind at 19:28

Deliberates over the most basic of passes — not ideal considering water carrying seems to be his only function in the side. Often played alongside someone more creative but he isn't aggressive, mobile, combative, positionally aware. Ndidi has been the only midfielder we've signed since the summer of 2016 who has been capable of making a tackle and destroying - he wasn't perfect but whenever he was injured our midfield always looked horribly imbalanced and easy to play through because we had/have no one else who could manage to do the job he did. Our defenders over the past 5 years should all be tried at the Hague but they're always left hugely exposed because we are paying good money for subpar footballers like Skipp to jog around near the ref. Good honest pro though.

In general he seemed annoyed at some of the sloppiness tbh, he didn't gloss over that and conceded they had too many chances from looseness which was relatively refreshing to hear. He did say he was pleased with Souttar and Okoli mind so... He also made repeated references to being a "young" team which I think is a bit muddled — in the starting XI he had McCarthy, Thomas, Skipp, Cullen, Burns, Reid, all of whom have played 150+ games (in some cases way, way more) either at this level or, more often than not, above. Real red flag that the squad is about to get padded out with the fabled "experience"

Not good enough, nowhere near good enough. Side full of tarts who either don't want to be here or think they're better than this level and weak wallflowers. The fact the three players who took the game by the scruff of the neck and stood out were Alves, Braybrooke and Joseph speaks volumes about the more senior players in the side. McCarthy looks exactly as everyone expected, if not shakier with the ball at his feet than anticipated. Cullen was frightening in his anonymity and a waste of a shirt. Burns offered little but would have had an assist if Reid resembled a footballer and not a competition winner. I don't think Martin is a particularly good appointment but the club has hung their hat on him — it's a real indictment on the recruitment team that while everyone was busy sucking each other off for a job well done on getting prats like Vestergaard and Winks out the door, they've failed to give a manager who is famed for playing it out the back defenders who are comfortable playing that way. The money spent on Cullen would have been put to much better use on a centre half who suits RM's style if we're short on wriggle room. I still expect us to be up there but while Rudkin and McCarron were backslapping they seem to have neglected some pretty glaring issues, fortnight left and still a tonne of work to be done And Luke Thomas is the worst left back we've ever had, no hyperbole
