  1. FWIW, I reckon Kasper will leave, and that we'll be in for Butland when he does.
  2. Does Jakupovic have much say in the matter? He's under contract and probably on a half decent wage. Despite his reasonable ability, I doubt he'll have many suitors. I think we'd only let him leave if he kicked up a big fuss. The true extent of Ward's quality remains to be seen, but I'm glad we've got (or at least are trying to get) a young, hungry, talented keeper to step into the breach if required. All evidence suggests we want 3 senior keepers based on the make-up of our previous squads. I met Tanner and went along with him to our training ground a few years ago when I did some work experience at the Mercury (I spoke with Chris Powell & Yann Kermorgant - both lovely fellas), and whilst I would certainly agree there is a bit of 'give and take' with regards to his relationship with the club, he struck me as a bloke with decent integrity. Can you point me to something Tanner has said in recent months with regards to the club's position on an issue that turned out to be a falsehood?
  3. Tanner has made the point very clearly on twitter and the merc that the club sees him as competition rather than number one, and that we want 3 senior keepers in the squad. The pecking order of keepers as it currently stands would be Kasper, Ward, Jak. If Kasper leaves, as he may well do, we will try to sign another keeper, no doubt about it. And all of you need to calm your tits about him being Liverpool's 3rd/4th choice - Klopp was very clearly trying to manage mental state of his two senior goalkeepers and squeeze the best from them, rather than throw another one in at the deep end and damage their already fragile confidence. Obviously now it's the close season, he feels it is the best time to address it head on and is signing a cracking keeper for mega bucks, and is happy to let Danny move on to be guaranteed back-up instead of fight for their backup keeper spot with 2 others - solves a personnel problem gets a decent wedge of cash for it in the process. For all their flaws, Karius and Mignolet are perfectly serviceable backup keepers. £10m for decent competition is fine by me (in this crazy inflated market), and personally I think he's a good keeper with a strong character from what I've seen and heard of him, which was a fair bit at Huddersfield. I'll think he'll be a good signing for us.
  4. Didn't quite work for me. As you say, narratively it didn't work as well as the other modern docs you've mentioned and I felt none of the subsequent episodes were as good as the first. Still a decent watch though. I'm on to the more classic documentary stylings of The Vietnam War by Ken Burns. Absolutely fascinating for those interested in geo-political history, but not for the faint of heart due to some of the stills he uses and the running time of each episode - 1h23m is the shortest I think!
  5. Absolutely superb episode. There's another sort of standalone episode later on in the season which was the best of the lot I reckon. You'll know which one when you watch it. No spoilers - for me it didn't quite live up to the first season as a whole, but is still brilliant TV and I can't wait for season 3. I know what you mean, but lets be honest - she was absolutely in the right. Walter was a right dickhead and that's why we all loved him!
  6. I think with the world cup as a welcome distraction, we'll see a flurry of activity from clubs in the coming weeks. Last year, Premier League clubs signed a combined total of 148 players - at the moment we're only at 62 for this summer, and have a shorter time to cram in all the transfer activity. 7 clubs have signed 1 player or less so far. I think we'll bring in 2 more players who will be in the first team squad, and will have shipped out some of the malingerers too. In my opinion, it's not over by a long shot!
  7. I like rebic. He's got that up n at em style. Not the most gifted, but direct and talented nonetheless. Would suit us I think.
  8. Didn't think either of them were that bad. Neither were particularly good either mind. Ricardo is certainly more comfortable on the ball than any Leicester right back I can remember. Based purely on his WC performances, the jury is still out on whether he can defend well or not. Looking forward to seeing him in a city shirt and getting a good run of games under his belt.
  9. Mentioned again in the Independent along with an assessment of his performance today: https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup/world-cup-2018-egypt-uruguay-goal-trezeguet-mahmoud-hassan-everton-leicester-burnley-a8400626.html
  10. Great shot of Shinji's superhuman calves there
  11. Can recommend Brew Dog Nanny State for those looking for a non-alcoholic alternative - it blows all the watery takes on lager away in my opinion. It doesn't quite have the body of a proper beer, but it's got a nice aroma and good hoppy bite you'd expect from a regular pale ale. It's actually 0.5% abv, but that's the same as a shandy bass. I've found it does help scratch the itch, so to speak. Plus a 4-pack is ~100 calories so little danger of enhancing the beer gut either!
  12. Thanks for the info. Were you also resistance training on the 1800 a day? My daily intake is about 1700 which works for me, but leaves me feeling fatigued during exercise like I said before. Maybe I should try upping the intake on those days. I've also read MFP dramatically overestimates calories burned from exercise, did you have any issues with that? After a difficult first couple of weeks, I actually find the discipline required for the whole process quite rewarding.
  13. Yes and yes.
  14. Preach, brother. How tall are you and what are your daily calorie goals? I've been going down the MFP route too since march and have lost over a stone so far from the exact same starting weight as you. Unfortunately a couple of long standing injuries mean the exercise isn't what it used to be, although I finally saw a consultant about my knee this morning and am going for an MRI. Aim to sort the wrist out next then hopefully I can get back to the gym. How do you get on with exercising on a calorie deficit? I seem to get fatigued noticeably more quickly compared with when I'm eating 'normally'.

  16. Started watching Wild Wild Country on Netflix last night, a documentary series about a new age cult who relocated to rural Oregon. Only one ep in, but it's definitely got me interested and I can see myself binging it before the week is out.
  17. Feeling good today. Went to my first volunteer meeting for a charity I recently joined yesterday evening, have got a massage scheduled in for my Friday evening (living the rock n roll lifestyle), and meeting up with the boys for beers and curreh tomorrow. Debating whether or not to watch the England game as it's highly likely to ruin my mood.
  18. It being a man in a suit is not a spoiler, rather how they realised the character on screen, if that makes sense. I think you're talking at cross purposes.
  19. I got to see it in the end as my local cinema brought it back after the Oscar nod. I thought it was great, and the two leads were superb. Stayed with me for a few days after which is usually a good sign. To get a bit wanky it seemed like an exploration of the patriarchy to me but I think its enjoyable regardless of whether you buy into all that - the trademark PTA atmosphere, unsettling black humour, and brilliant score, not to mention costume design. I'm not sure he'll ever top There Will Be Blood though - what a film. Do you think it really will be DDL last film?
  20. Good lord West Brom are muck. Absolutely limping out the league.
  21. Thanks for your thoughts. Yeah, that whole affirmation approach seems a bit daft to me. What you write about in terms of 'surrendering' rings true with the concepts of noticing and 'non-judgemental awareness' which are prevalent in mindfulness. I think understanding and accepting the concept is very different from intuitively feeling that way, and it's that disconnect that I find quite frustrating. I suppose I didn't get this way overnight, so I need to have a bit more patience (and compassion!) with myself. Your file doesn't sound daft at all, I bet it gave you a nice fillip when you dug it out!
  22. Have you got any advice on this point? I've had counselling and medication to varying success and feel in a relatively good place right now - it sort of feels the baton has been passed back to me and it's up to me to run with it, and that increasing my feelings of self worth is key. A lot of my inner dialogue revolves around feelings of 'less than' or 'not enough'. Mindfulness meditation has been super helpful in identifying and observing it (although I've let that slip and, inevitably, give myself a hard time about it ) but I don't really know how to start thinking about myself in a different way. If you've ever seen the BoJack Horseman episode 'stupid piece of shit', then that is pretty much me on a bad day. Recommended to all in this thread btw if you've not seen it. How do you challenge those entrenched views about yourself, and begin to have a bit more self compassion?
  23. I would say Shape of Water & Get Out were both better than average films but not exceptional. Shape of Water isn't even GDT's best film imo. Same goes for Three Billboards although that was probably my favourite of the three. Seem to have missed Phantom Thread at my local cinemas which I'm a bit gutted about as Paul Thomas Anderson is one of my favourite directors and There Will be Blood one of my favourite films - anyone seen this one?
  24. Same, and I enjoyed it more than Mindhunter. Got a fair way in to Altered Carbon but might give up on it. The aesthetics are great, but it is pretty silly and has some clunky writing at times.
  25. Also recommend Frozen Wilds - bit more challenging than some of the main quests too. After getting Platinum on Horizon a couple of weeks back, I played through The Last Of Us remaster having missed it when it first came out. Really excellent storytelling, got me hyped for the sequel. Now I'm playing the The Talos Principle - entertaining first person puzzler with seemingly similar themes to the titles above. Wanted something to break things up a bit before I launch into Witcher 3 for the first time which I can see being an absolute time sink... Having said that, Ratchet & Clank does look like fun!
