I was speaking to somebody that I went to school with yesterday who said that this weekend will effectively be her last weekend of socialising for the forseeable future as a result of the 19th restrictions ending. She has cystic fibrosis and had a lung transplant a few years ago, but naturally remains vulnerable to infection etc. I fully appreciate that the world cannot stop forever and circumstances like hers are few and far between, but one must feel incredibly let down and forgotten about in those situations. I also can't imagine the anger you'd have towards people who can't whack a mask on for a 5 minute browse around Waterstones for the sake of your health.

Group D: England, Croatia, Scotland, Czech Republic
David Guiza replied to Mark's topic in General Football and Sport
Apart from Lancastrian Scott McTominay. As a fan of 90s football I am pleased to see a Hendry feature in the Scotland line up. -
Does anyone know how feasible it is to change the taps on a cast iron bath? We're looking to get a shower head/tap combo to replace what's currently there, but I imagine this would leave a messy hole where the taps were and would perhaps make more sense to just get a new bath with the taps already fitted to that?

Best Goal You've Seen... Scored AGAINST Us
David Guiza replied to jimsmallman's topic in Leicester City Forum
I'd probably agree with the Di Maria or Bergkamp goals, but for a bit of variety the McGeady goal in our first game back in the big time was a fantastic effort in terms of precision. It felt like Arsenal scored at least one wonder goal against us every season for a while. -
He was a Juventus legend and took the Inter job and those two despise each other, so I wouldn't be so sure that he'd turn it down on a respect basis. He may not fancy it for plenty of other reasons, though.

Certainly has it's rougher areas, the ground itself being one of them, and it clearly pales to insignificance by comparison to Granby Street and beyond, but I think s**thole is a little extreme...

Our owners: How do you see the endgame, if it ever comes?

Win a couple more trophies and another couple of European adventures and then wait for it to blow up in our stupid faces.- 41 replies

Our home form has cost us today and across the season. Won less than half our home games, including losses to Villa, Fulham, Leeds, and Newcastle. Were it not for our away form we'd have been fighting it out for a Europa Conference place, or lower still.

There are a few different plots between there and the ground by the looks of it, but that shouldn't limit the usage unless there are any particularly covenants over the land. There are still adequate rights from the road etc. But yes, if they were looking for direct access from the stadium through to that land and away from Raw Dykes Road then that would seemingly require that additional land to acquired/right to be granted over that.

Not that it means anything whatsoever, but Villa fans seem fairly confident of getting at least a point. One would imagine that the first goal is even bigger than usual in that game. If Villa go ahead then Chelsea have shown in recent weeks, Man City game aside, that they're not always the best at chasing a game. However, if they go in front then I have no doubts that they'll suffocate Villa to a comfortable something to 0 win. I really can't see Palace doing us in any favours, but Liverpool do have previous this season with home struggles and there are a few stories that could be made. Zaha putting himself in the shop window, Benteke and Hodgson having the last laugh against their old side, a few Palace players going out on a high in their final game etc. I'm sure Sky and co will be glad for it too, as were it not for us they'd be trying to hype up the North London race for the Conference League. As has been said, I think winning our own game is a big of a task as any. If we are the first (ideally only!) side out of the three to go ahead then it could cause panic elsewhere. I've never really had the final day drama on the positive end. The Knockaert goal at Forest was fantastic, but the joy barely lasted a week, and I was only 4 when Muzzy scored at Vicarage Road. My only real involvement with final day drama was being at the Britannia so it'd be nice to re-write that. As with many others, my biggest concern was losing the final and dropping out the top 4 so, following last Saturday's heroics, I'm far more relaxed than I imagine. That'll all change if we take the lead and results are going our way though.

We have undoubtedly shot ourselves in the foot at times this season, but, as with last season, we are fighting off two of the biggest clubs in Europe with a bench that includes two players pushing 40, somebody with an average loan spell at Burton Albion, and Daniel Amartey. It was always going to be tough. There's a reason that the same clubs qualify year in year out for it, they have resources far and away above ours. We are still living in the greatest period in the entire history of our club and we have a number of fans who can't stand the fact we're going to finish one or two places lower than we perhaps could have done. I'm sure fans of West Ham, Everton, Spurs, Arsenal and beyond would bite your hand off for our season. Not to mention our nearest and dearest in Nottingham, Derby, and Coventry. It's competley understandable to be deflated at the deja vu of our minor implosion, but please get some perspective. We are still potentially 90 minutes away from the CL, and the worst case scenario is that we finish 5th with the second best trophy in England in our cabinet.

Decline only our sixth (fifth if you don't include the behind closed doors games of this season) ever European campaign? If we're declining invitations to tournaments because we're not going to win them, or because they've lost their appeal then there's not going to be a huge amount left to complete for. Success really does do strange things to some people.

Chelsea away, Tues 18th May (For Ric Flair)
David Guiza replied to HighPeakFox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Frustrating having Barnes out for this (and all the other games he's missed). His pace against a side that will need to be on the front foot, baring an early goal, would be invaluable. Our attacking options off the bench are still pretty average due to the injury and form of Barnes and Under. Whoever doesn't start out of Perez and Maddison is the only real attacking change we can make. Those who have come in since the injury have been fantastic in the most part, particularly Iheanacho, but it would be nice to have the option to mix things up if and when required. -

I absolutely want it done ASAP, but it has been a while since we had some final day drama go our way. The Forest 3-2 game in 2013 being the last and the Izzet goal v Watford before that? A lot of our successes have been done in advance of the final game or two in recent years. Any other final day drama has been less favourable (Stoke away and United at home last season, not that they're remotely comparable emotionally) I am worried that it'll be after a touch of after the Lord Mayor's show tonight, but we'll see. Another game of the first goal being huge. If we get it and frustrate them for a period afterwards then the crowd and players could lose patience, but if we concede it then Tuchel will likely rinse the life out of the game. -
I'm assuming he moved to another part of the ground, but he was so out of it that he may well still be in a cubicle somewhere in Wembley.

Chap next to me, who didn't return after half time thankfully, was one of the more vociferous boo-ers. I may be judging a book by it's cover, but his other comments and general demeanor suggested that his issue wasn't booing because he was he disagreed with Marxist theory. I completely understand wanting rid of it, as it really does seem like a gimmick now, and perhaps there's no better way to voice your discontent than doing exactly that, but booing an anti-racism message doesn't have the greatest of connotations.

Feels a bit like the aftermath of a night out where you keep remembering different elements from the night before and reminiscing. So many intricate details, aside from the obvious moments, like the marching band playing The Post-Horn Gallop and the infamous Abide With Me, to looking back over Wembley after finally leaving the car park to see the arch lit in blue and white (even if it did look a little turquoise)

First game I've ever attended alone, thanks to a bit of a nightmare with ticketing etc, and fully enjoyed it. Of course winning the FA Cup for the first time in our history probably had a slight hand in that... I thought I'd reached a stage of being away from football for over a year that I didn't miss the experience as much as I thought, but even prior to the game, the Tielemans strike, and everything that followed, I was a bit of a mess emotionally. I think just being in a stadium again with 20,000+ people after this awful period for everyone just amplified everything. Also, seeing familiar strangers, like the woman we sat next to at Filbert Street for a years when I was between the ages of 7 and 10, lads I'd played football with years ago, and just faces I'd never said a word to but could instantly pick out in a lineup having seen them at UK hotspots from Rotherham to Carlisle. Driving down with my Dad, who had been to the '63 and '69 finals, before the game and chatting through all the permutations and then coming off the motorway and seeing the famous arch, then finding him after the game to stroll back to the car together in pure elation. Even the hour+ that it took to get out of the car park didn't dampen the mood. Incredible.

FA Cup Final pre match thread (Chelsea)
David Guiza replied to urban.spaceman's topic in Leicester City Forum
I've got my test later this afternoon, but my wife has just had one of her twice weekly tests for her job and came back negative. I just have a few hours to avoid every other human, more so than I normally do. -
9/10 for the same reason as above. The Jesus one got me (and my wife, an English Teacher and English Literature graduate). Even the question states that it's more of a style guide than a grammatical rule, so I'm not sure that counts .

My motivation and drive since Christmas has been non existent. I had hoped that lockdown easing would help, but, if anything, I've got even less motivation or desire to see anyone or do anything since then. Physically and mentally exhausted all the time.

I'm sure the thousands of Teachers who have been doing their job three times over and having to roll with every punch the government throws at them are delighted with this sort of dribble.

I think the fact that they continue to employ the driver of the vehicle, who fled the scene and left Keogh unconscious in the back, helped the appeal. Particularly as Lawrence was fined 6 weeks wages, whereas Keogh was 'offered' a far reduced contract and then sacked.

I think growing up in the 90s has given me the fear (f-e-a-r) of Old Trafford. They could have Fred the Red and Eammon Holmes up top and I'd be convinced that we were lambs to the slaughter. I am therefore not looking forward to some teenager I've never heard of scoring against us, who is then heralded as the next big star, before ending up at Rochdale with Football Focus doing a feature on how he's got his career back on track. Anyway, no better time than the present to find a bit of form, confidence, and secure one of the greatest weeks in the history of this club .
