When you are paying Schmeichel and Vardy £130-£140k a week, the agent of a new player you are paying £20-£30m for is not going to settle for a third of that. Then when you start paying £60-£80k a week for new players, it makes the situation more unsustainable. It’s highly likely we wouldn’t have had that second crack after the league success under Rodgers of the FA Cup win and mixing with the top 4 (I know we bottled it) without overspending on wages. So while mistakes have obviously been made, I still wouldn’t have swapped some of the success we had. We have managed to get back into the Premier League and if we can survive this year, we can hopefully build the squad up more sustainably from here.

It depends whether we want to keep him or not. If we want to sell, then you can only ask for a fee that others will pay. That may be more than £12m, but not necessarily. If we want to keep him, then obviously we can ask for a higher fee.
-
If he’s been that instrumental as you say for a team qualifying for the Champions League, then I’d be amazed if either Bologna or another Italian team don’t want to buy him for £12m. As it stands, he’s not done it in our shirt. If nobody wants to buy him this summer, then we’ll see what he can do for us next season.

Oh calm down everyone! Like I said before, he is obviously a young lad with a very strong, confident character to move to a foreign league and supposedly try to change things like people on here seem to know all about. I therefore find it surprising that he played like a player with no confidence and lost his place in the team. If I want to call it sulking I will. I have no inside info like 99.9% of people on here.
-
Whether he was right or not, you can't go off sulking if other players disagree with you.
-
You are just guessing the conversations that went on. If however it is like what you suggest, then it shows a very strong, confident character. Surprising then that after a couple of matches, he showed none of this confidence on the football pitch.
-
Young lad coming to a much higher league trying to act like the manager? Not surprised he rubbed a few people up the wrong way!
-
I'd be surprised if it was as simple as that. There are two sides to every story.
-
The fact that he did well for a game or two only has to raise question marks. Also the fact that he clashed with players at the club. If he does stay I would obviously be prepared to give him a chance, but I certainly don't see the need to keep him if a decent offer comes in. He would come back with a higher risk than a new player I think.

So it’s only a good transfer window if a Championship club signs players that are all PL standard? On a limited budget? Come on! I didn’t call it a masterclass anyway. That’s a term you came up with.

I can't believe there is any club in the country that make 8 or 9 signings where all are a perfect fit and go straight into the first team. It's completely unrealistic to think otherwise. Coady would have started ahead of Vestergaard if he wasn't injured. The signing made good sense. Leadership and a ball playing centre back. Vestergaard was probably not expected to turn into such a key player. I'm pretty sure Enzo would have given his support for signing Doyle given his knowledge of him at Man City. Yunus was a pretty low risk option that could have been useful given his experience at a higher level. The jury is still out on Cannon, but we shouldn't lose too much money on him if it doesn't work out.
-
I hope they pay the fee and he goes. He didn't want to hang around last season and he didn't show a great deal in the relegation season. If Bologna don't want to pay the fee and nobody else comes in for him at that fee, then that tells us something. Would prefer to take the money and try somebody else, rather than hoping they come good like it seems we did with Soumare.

Fair enough. Just follow what 90% of people love to do on this forum, which is blaming Rudkin for everything bad, while skimming over all the good parts. I’m not sure where you get the feeling of disconnect between player identification for roles required. Fatawu, Winks, Hermansen were perfect Enzo players. Casadei, Mavididi and Coady all fit the system well.
-
Take those 4 out we wouldn’t have got promoted in this highly competitive season. We all know what the consequences of not going up would have been. Even if they all perform poorly until December, with the exception of possibly Winks, we could make a profit on them too. So there is no justification in not giving credit where credit is due for the signings last summer.
-
We don’t need to wait until Dec to review them. They did the job and got us the trophy.
-
This has nothing to do with FFP. He was never turning down a 5 year contract at Chelsea.
-
Add to that a few very good signings.
-
There are plenty of managers that would love the job. A team that wasn’t far off breaking the points record in a very competitive Championship. No massive expectations from fans for this season and a club that historically have rewarded managers well. Also a great setup at Seagrave to do your work. If it didn’t work out this season, you have plenty of excuses you could point out as well, so your reputation would remain intact.
-
I assume they didn't want to give him the full picture last summer, otherwise he might not have joined? Then with us winning every match, you wouldn't particularly want to upset the manager until necessary.
-
Strange to hope that we lose our manager.
-
We had to get promoted by any means this season. I think we had more of a chance with Coady in the squad than not, so for me he was a good signing. Would have played at lot more matches if it wasn’t for his injury last summer. Now we are back in the Premier League though, it’s not the kind of signing I would make now on those big wages.

Leicester 'could face points deduction next season'

When a player badly underperforms in the last year or two of his contract, they are obviously going to have questions about their commitment. -

A no brainer giving him a new contract when you have limited funds available. With some pace around him, he certainly can do a job in Enzo’s system in the Premier League. We aren’t going to find a better free transfer than him that can walk straight into our style of play.
