  1. Do you really think if we don’t sell Maguire there are no funds at all to spend this summer? Losing Maguire is pretty much a guarantee to reduce the quality of our first team. Yes we might be able to get a couple more squad players if we sold him, but I’m more keen on our starting eleven. If money is that tight, there are other players in the squad I would sell first, such as Gray who would command decent money.
  2. The whole defence was responsible. That’s why I wouldn’t want to split them up. My point was that under Rodgers we are playing great and not conceding many. Arsenal in October was a very different time.
  3. What we do know is that some people seem keen to sell one of our best players. I certainly don’t like doing that.
  4. Irrelevant to my point.
  5. I’m not missing the point at all. Only Tielemans out of those three would improve our first team. Attempting to buy him is probably not reliant on selling Maguire. Why would you want to split up a defence that conceded only once (a once in a lifetime strike) against Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea?
  6. So you are happy to have a weaker first team?
  7. No chance. I can’t see any benefit in weakening our team.
  8. I'd be fine with them having a good season, but I prefer our achievement to be unique.

    Maguire

Yeah it's pretty easy for a club like ours to pick up the best English centre back or someone of that level. Should be no problem at all! It's not your money, so why would you prefer to swap a player for somebody not as good?
  10. Without the release clause, Kante might not have signed and we wouldn't have won the ieague. Just need to forget about that one. Also Mahrez is only worth what people want to pay. Nobody wanted to pay £80m, so that means you can't sell him for that fee.
  11. Probably because they got Jonny Evans for £17 odd million less.
  12. Not at all. But if you want to hold out for £130m, we'll have an unhappy player for the next two years and then he'll be off on a free.
  13. Nobody would pay £130m for him.
  14. I'm more than happy to let him stroll back into the side. He is one of the best players the club has ever had, so I want him playing as soon as possible. If he performs on the pitch then I don't really care what went on.
  15. Mahrez by quite a distance really. He is a level above where we currently are. I think there are probably four or five in the level below him this season. They include Vardy, Maguire, Okazaki and Morgan.
  16. No chance he is going anywhere. He knows what the situation is here and wouldn't have been expecting to be anything more than being a squad player. I was happy for him to be rewarded for his service with us and you need players like him and Ulloa that are happy to play a part whenever they are needed. Nobody else will ever pay him what we are paying him either. Giving James, a second squad player in his position a long term contract didn't seem so clever though.
  17. No i'm not a huge fan. I just don't think he is good enough to step up to the required level we are at in the Premier League. The thing that annoys me a bit though is when people say how good he has been for us in the Premier League. He hasn't shown it for us yet in this league as we were poor in the season he did play and he had a limited impact when our form improved in the great escape. I hope he improves and is a great addition to our squad this year. If not then he won't be going anywhere in the next 4 years due to his contract and salary with us.
  18. I posted on this topic a while back and i'm not going over it all again. He had a very limited impact and was subbed of when losing in one of the matches. It's a myth that he played a major part in the great escape.
  19. He didn't play much when our form turned around.
  20. No he's not. It also means it would be difficult for him to move anywhere else due to his salary here.
  21. He won't get near to the money he is on here anywhere else. He also wouldn't be a guaranteed starter at any other Premier League club. So he might as well be part of the squad here at a club he obviously enjoys being with, rather than taking less money for regular Championship football.
  22. I thought we played very well against a team that would comfortably win the Premier League. They are a level above any team we play in England and we certainly made them uncomfortable in the 2nd half. So so a lot of good, solid performances from our team, including Chilwell and Ulloa.
  23. I've got to say that's pretty spot on.
