  1. Which why (even though I am one of his biggest critics) I would start Shinji. That hustle at the top without Vardy will be lacking with just Kelechi. The 3-5-2 with attacking wing backs could be our only hope against the leagues form team. One thing you get from Shinji is energy from the start. That could also help us in overcoming our slow starts. The one on one between salah and amartey is scaring though.
  2. Wes is a legend. Deserves all the respect in the world. Yes, due to age he is coming towards end of his career with us but we owe him the respect to allow him to bow out gracefully. The best million pound signing in last decade. idiots will always be part of any fan base. The grass is always greener for some apparently
  3. Oh, get lost Dyche. As if he hasn’t spent money. Everyone in this day and age has spent it’s a futile excuse now.
  4. Really think this may be one for 3-5-2 which we ended the Wolves game with. There key players are the obvious front three and Keita. Having the extra man in defence will be vital.
  5. Got to agree with this. As much as I want him to come good, he is simply not cutting out the basic errors. So much so, that errors are now becoming habits. The amount of times he’s fallen asleep and let someone in behind happens far too often. That’s whether he plays RB or CM. Maybe he is a confidence player but can we really afford to keep giving away chances and goals while he takes his time to find that confidence.
  6. We are getting results when we are not playing particularly well - that is always a good sign. Our team is new, it’s adapting to losing a key member and a few new players finding their feet. I hope we get a bit more consistency in our starting 11 so partnerships can develop. 6/9 in the opening 3. Not a bad start!!
  7. Amartey is not a right back. Actually, I don’t know what he is.
  8. I thought both Mendy and Ndidi were very good in the first half. Has the potential to be a very good pairing. With there win it back, give it and go style, we really need to attack with at least a front five.
  9. Has anyone got a stream
  10. While I understand having different options and plans is always positive. You would hope the opening few games that we would be looking to build up partnerships. Maybe we need more consistency in team selections to achieve this.
  11. The club obviously made errors in the summer of 2016/2017. However, we also lost our head of recruitment bang in the middle of pre-season. That can’t have helped. Some of our business since then has been very good. We feel we are paying the price because of the unprecedented success of 2015/2016. Take that season away and our achievements since the great escape have been very good for a team not that long ago promoted.
  12. The view is good. Bit more space I think. Very easy to get snacks/drinks at half time.
  13. Win please. I think we’re better than them. I would go 3-5-2 with Kelechi and Gray up front.
  14. I’d go with the three at the back we finished with against Wolves. I think Chilwell and Perreira could be real assets bombing forward and having the extra man back there makes it easier for them. Otherwise, Kelechi in for Vardy and the rest as you were. 0-2 City.
  15. The Puel appointment is obviously a long term one. Very similar to the Pearson one previously. Nige could easily have been sacked after the Watford playoff defeat but wasn’t as the vision was long term. Puel could’ve easily have been sacked this summer but wasn’t. Great to see the long term vision is that the club is self sustainable and depend more so on the internal youth team and a highly skilled scouting team rather than a mad splash every summer. I like Puel and I like what he seems to be doing with club. It’s a slow process though and requires some patience.
  16. I think you guys will really pick up after Christmas. It takes about half a season to realise who can cut it and Who your best 11 is. Agree with you, you’ve probably done better than the other two promoted sides. Plus really rate your manager.
  17. This is great news. Wilf is going from strength to strength. Having a strong foundation only breeds further success. Kasper, Maguire, Wilf, Maddison and Vardy. That is a very good spine to any team.
  18. Mate, the marking of a good side is to win when you do not play well. The mark of side in trouble is one which dominates, plays well and still cannot get the job done. We had this in our first season back for 3/4 of the season. You’ve had two games at this level and both where you’ve played large parts of the games against ten. You haven’t been able to “dominate” either game where it matters. For 30 minutes yesterday, you were up against us where we lost our talisman/focal point and yet I can’t remember you carving us open, in fact we were relatively comfortable. I think you will give a good battle to stay up and will do so. However, if you think being successful in this league only needs a bit of pretty football - you’re in for a rude awakening. Man U/City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and even Spurs will very rarely play you out of second gear but still win with ease. Huddersfield, Bournemouth, Burnley, Watford, Newcastle and Southampton will set up in hard to break down manner. You quite clearly have difficulties getting in behind so will be reliant on long range screamers which, as you saw yesterday are not a regular occurrence. youve already failed miserably against us and and Everton. With ten men in each game, you should really have more than a point. Especially considering one was at home. Even more so, if you think you’re a shoe in for the top ten. Not trying to put you down because like the other 19 teams in the premier league, Wolves are not really “one to watch” simply because you haven’t earned that tag yet. However, if you think your first two games give you comfort that you will be a guaranteed top ten team, you’re really in for a difficult year. There is nothing more frustrating than playing well and not winning. Search this forum in 2014/2015. We went through it and guess what with Vardy and Mahrez, Who, on yesterday’s show both were far better than anything you’ve got.
  19. Walking back to my car had two Wolves fans in front of me. One said to the other: “Credit to them, they fluked the league a few seasons back but they really do not belong at this level”. I think Mcmanaman may have a reason for his dislike...
  20. We need to work out why we start so slow. The first twenty minutes were poor. After that, up until the sending off, we controlled the game. Mendy was a nice surprise. Thought he played really well. He offers something different to our other midfielders who are a bit more cultured, in that he has that drive forward in him. Evans and Maguire need games together to build up an understanding and partnership. Wolves got thought a very valuable lesson by us. At this level, you can’t just look ok and create chances. If you do not take those chances, you will get punished. Good result. Hopefully we add to it with another win against Southampton.
  21. It was a sending off. The initial tackle was robust and he got to the ball first. However where he ended up and the impact on Doherty showed he had no control.
  22. Shinji Okazaki - yes the guy can hustle but in return, he can’t pass, shoot and hold up play. A lot of the reasons why we had to press from the front when he plays is because he can’t stay on his feet. Which after three years is disappointing. Robbie Savage - another one. Plenty of hustle but give me Gary Parker any day of the week. Ian Walker - had some good attributes but he let himself go here and his mobility suffered. Let him shots he really shouldn’t have at times. Richard Smith - I think he got a lot of the support because he came through the youth team. He made some daft mistakes on the pitch though.
  23. Love games against Wolves. I did grow up in the Bull/Walsh era so that probably explains it. Good football club who always have a decent following. Wolves have talent and have a very good manager also. Their manager will be key to their success this year. However, they’re new to this division and even with a number of top signings it takes time to adapt. Plenty of moneybag stories that have gone wrong in recent years. Not saying Wolves will be one of those stories but it takes a lot of ground work to get to being a top ten prem team at the very least. We are and must be the favourites here. 2-1 City. Vardy to tear them a new one.
  24. It was. Also the same season that we went: 2-0 up against Southampton and drew 2-2 4-3 up against Spurs and Drew 4-4 2-0 up against nine men Bolton and drew 2-2 (we had Muzzy sent off too though) Came back to 2-2 with also relegated Leeds but lost 3-2. Gave away a lot of goals that year.
