Bt sport 2(6pm) Tonight , Leicester v Sunderland 1999/00
Mickyblueeyes replied to dayday's topic in Leicester City Forum
I think the debut was Watford in a three prong attack with Heskey and Cottee but the injury may have been against Derby ? You're right though - a long time ago. i also remember Stan scoring an absolute belter against a very good Leeds side in a game we won 2-1. -
Seriously? From all his time here, you think his contribution is worth that much? You can can take your Hume's, your Waghorn's, your Savage's, your Tiatto's, your Fryatt's and all the other players who gave blood guts and thunder. Who apparently "played for shirt". Take all of them, combined and their contribution to this football club wouldn't equal a quarter of what Mahrez has given us. The man has consistently contributed to our success in recent times and deserves more respect than that. Wait for the first game of the season where we are lumbering balls and "chasing hard" but drawing 0-0 with Cardiff - I'm sure most would've the "lazy git" back than.

Saw a few predicted England starting 11 for the first WC games. All had Rashford over Vardy to partner Kane. It probably will happen and it's a ludicrous decision. Which elite footballing country would've a bit part striker over a man who was only out scored by Mo Salah and Harry Kane (he is on par win Aguero). What sort of reasoning would be behind such a dumbass decision if it happened.

He is coming good.... Get a good ore-season under his belt and Kelechi good be a very key player next year.

Is this how everyone felt about us?
Mickyblueeyes replied to cityfanlee23's topic in Leicester City Forum
This is a good point. Its like our various championship campaigns where we just couldn't get it right. The time wasn't right until we actually did pull it off. Do not want Europe to be a one off excursion. If we are managed properly, when it does occur, genuine opportunity for it to be a yearly aim. -
I cannot believe there are people in this thread who actually can't wait to "get rid" of Riyad Mahrez? Really? If I had any spare cash, I would put on it that they were the same lot who cried when Sven sold Fryatt because he was a trier. I will spending most of this summer praying that he does stay, like I have been for the last two summers.
-
Whatever the decision, the club needs to make it this week. We have some seriously good players. We need at least four more this year (two of them, at the very least in defence). We cannot come back to pre season without a manager or manager recently hired and cock up the transfer window. Top six is realistic aim next year with the right acquisitions. These last two games paper over the cracks that we cannot play against teams who respect us. If someone comes at us, we do well. It's find the antidote to the "park the bus teams" which pushes us from 9th to 6th. Oh, and the ability to see out leads.
-
"I'm as frustrated as they [fans] are but we need perspective because we are going to finish mid-table and I think a lot of teams would like to finish in our position." I wasn't fully against him until I read the above comment. It's bad enough when poor pundits say it but for the manager who sits there watching every single game to defend himself with such a stance. That is unacceptable. Mr Puel, Mr Savage, Mr Sutton, Mr Keown. Read this slowly as I appreciate all of you have difficulty understanding simple opinions. It is not the league position that is an issue. It's the fact that we are, and have been for the past FIVE months, one of the worst (if not the worst) performing sides in the country (let alone the division!!). We are not asking to win league or even qualify for Europe (which, let's be honest was probably the easiest ask it has been for years). We are asking to compete. You are happy not competing, we are not. One shot on target against West Ham may be acceptable to you but it isn't to the fans you charge £40 to. PUEL OUT - there's me putting it into perspective.
-
If you're playing well but not getting the results, it's worth persevering. We are not. In fact, at this moment and for the last 3 months our performances have been the worst in the league. The players should take a big share of the blame but it's easier to get rid of the manager. One shot on target against West Ham is never acceptable. The performances outweigh any positives of his tenure.

Steve Walsh - A revisionist history
Mickyblueeyes replied to The whole world smiles's topic in Leicester City Forum
The thing about Walsh is his signings tend to take time to bed in. He is a scout who recommends a player with a long term plan. Apart from Kante, most of his signings here took a year/18 months to find their feet. Take a look at the Middlesbrough game thread (back when we won the Championship) on here when Drinkwater and Vardy started. Apart from Kante and Cambiasso (who was a sure thing just based on his experience), most took some time to find their feet. Everton fans should remember that. Walsh did an excellent job here. Not only in helping to build the title winning squad but his work in League One and the subsequent play off campaign as well. Everton fans should look a bit deeper and remember this. His legacy deserves the respect given that we were signing shit like Jarrett and Johnson before he came in. I would have him back in a heart beat. -
This has an effect. Leicester has a large population of Asians from Africa. Their parents grew up with limited football coverage, which, from the premier league (or Div 1 as it was back than) probably mainly showed the best team in the land. That team was Liverpool. Most chose to follow them as a result (have many clients who tell me this). Of course, there is also a glory element for some of them following a "big club". However, id put a lot of money that most of these Liverpool fans followed our parade as if they were a part of it. I find that sad as I wouldn't join a Tottenham or Man City/united (teams from areas I've lived in) parade if one were to happen while I was there.

Am I the only one with the "meh" feeling?
Mickyblueeyes replied to Steven's topic in Leicester City Forum
The problem with winning the league is it raised ambitions. Unfortunately, what has followed (apart from the 2-0 home win v Sevilla) has been a bit of anti-climax. Don't get me wrong I still scream as loud when we scored and still have that bounce in my step when we win. It's just it doesn't feel as exciting when games are approaching. As the fan, I too feel a bit underwhelmed since the title win. It's a combination of things. From, at times the lacklustre performances to the players attitudes. I was foolish enough to think that after the title win, we would be a bigger draw for elite players around the world and a big enough draw for our stars to want to stay. Unfortunately, on both fronts, we've failed. I am dreading the summer. Last year it was Drinkwater and Mahrez. The season before that it was Vardy, Mahrez and Kante. I suspect this summer all the attention will be on Ndidi, Maguire and Mahrez. We just cannot seem to progress. It's getting boring. I would prefer being 8th in the Premier League than back in the Championship in any capacity but with the backing we have, the immediate shot to star status and the players we have got in some positions, I just thought we'd make the dream run for a bit longer. The title win feels like the pinnacle of our history. Therefore every thing since than is not as much a buzz as before. If it hadn't occurred, I think I would actually be far more optimistic. My ambitions as a fan have changed, in that previouly, finishing 17th in the Premier was all I wanted. So maybe I need to find solace that the next ambition is achievable but it may just take another 40 odd years. -
Morgan is a legend. No question. Top player for us. However, so was John Terry for Chelsea. He is the wrong side of 30 and just like Terry had to move on, so does Morgan. We need to continually evolve and having Morgan as main CB next year and going forward, will not be in our or Wes best interest. Does not mean he should leave at the end of this year as he still has a role to play (on and off the pitch) as a squad player. However, we need to think of a younger CB partnership for the next five years or so.
-
He has played two half games in Premier League. Surely you cut him some slack for hiding in a game where his senior colleagues were not up to it too? If a young player coming on for his second half appearance is distinctly average that would suggest he is a pretty good player.

The Puel situation is a weird one. We are sat 8th and 6 points behind 7th with games against "beatable" teams coming up. If someone told me when he was appointed that this is where we would be now, I would've bit their hand off. However, the reason we are not sitting 7th at present is because of a number of lacklustre home performances. To be honest, even the games we have won recently you could associate with how bad the opposition were which allowed us to get the win over the finish line (Brighton stands out as an obvious example). Fans criticism of Puel, though in parts I do not agree with it all, is understandable. The issue here is, it seems the owners want to see the side develop into a dominant passing side. The off field investment (training ground/stadium) clearly shows their intention to build the club into one of the dominant forces in English football. To do this, they're not wrong in wanting the side to evolve on the playing side also. Puel's style suits this. However, his biggest issue is that the vast majority of the squad are not suited to that style of play. Morgan, Simpson, Okazaki, Albrighton etc. Struggle with it. If you take yesterday's game. The vast majority of it was us passing side ways and too slow. If you're going to pass a team of the park, you need quick passing to create pace with the odd bit of "genius" to carve out an opportunity. We simply cannot do that with sustained possession. He has signed one player to add to the squad during his tenure. A question has to be asked whether you can truly judge him with only one addition to a squad who, in the main do not suit his style. In the same manner you could also question why better passers, who were in form were dropped for no apparent reason (Drag for example). The question the club has to ask is: a) is Claude Puel the next manager for the next 3-3 1/2 years and when he leaves, will we be better for it; and b) if not, who else out there can we genuinely attract who will evolve the side as the owners want. The latter is harder of the two to answer. Man City (albeit with a lot more money) went through a similar process not that long ago. They managed to attract Mancini as well as a different calibre of player to allow them to make the jump from mid table to one of the elite clubs. I don't know if you can sell "Leicester" in the same way as the city of Manchester to elite players. It maybe a slow a process under Puel but I think he is smart enough to make us progress. For that reason, if we can't attract anything better, we should persevere and allow him to make the squad his in the summer. However, if the club, with the investment plans and money can attract a bigger name, they should do it but seriously invest into the philosophy which ever way we choose to go. Success, even in football requires some sort of consistency.

I don't think it's a massive loss. However, I don't think it will be problem that we will not continually face in years to come. The role advertised is "Head of Recruitment" ultimately reporting into the Director with responsibility of the department. If you're Walsh or Marcia, with years of experience, being told what to do by Rudkin (with his experience) maybe a bit undermining. Just make sure a replacement is found, without delay so there is no repeat of the 16/17 summer.
-
I don't understand the Puel criticism. What did he do wrong today? Not bring on Diabate earlier? Really? So at 1-1 with Chelsea you wanted to sacrifice our right back and go hung ho. Effectively leaving Willian/Hazard with oceans of space in behind us? Or maybe at 1-1 you wanted him to take off Albrighton? Effectively taking off our best player and leaving the Chelsea right wing back free? Yeah, losing from that position would've been worth it? The man did nothing wrong tactically! We were fine and well in a game. We lost due to an individual error - how can the manager control this with substitutions? Seriously, makes no sense the criticism of the manager today. We do need a right back who can attack and defend - give him the summer to find one. We need to get Silva/Ndidi and Iborra playing time. This season can only help. We need to find a match winner once Mahrez goes - the scouts need to earn their money here. The manager could not have done more than what he did today. Oh, Chelsea are not at the paces and ran through the mill against Barca a few days earlier. So what? They're still ****ing Chelsea we are not exactly going to cut them open at every opportunity are we?

Leicester 1-2 Chelsea (AET) Post-Match
Mickyblueeyes replied to Bryn's topic in Leicester City Forum
No one else to blame for that defeat but Kasper. Never have I criticised him because as a keeper, until this season truly believed he won us more games than he lost. We are out of the cup because his ego took over. Utterly moronic decision which a professional should be ashamed of making. It was Pedro coming in for the header not bloody Giroud! -
Got to stick up for the profession here. Not that I am in conveyancing but of course have an idea of what one who has specialised in the area may have to deal with. Why anyone would spend the length of time and choose to specialise in residential conveyancing, I have to admit, is beyond me. The actual technical challenge and given most clients are lay with little or no commercial knowledge makes you wonder what a relatively bright person who has been trained to "think outside the box" wants to do in the area. Not to mention, the government, the Law Society and the Legal Services Act has dumb down an area which governed the legal process of the best government land management process in the world. Rant over. Anyway, just on these to points and to hopefully add some value. Poster one has made a very good point. Most go for the cheapest or the one they can haggle down the most. The problem with this is, the age old problem, you get what you pay for. To justify within a legal business to do something which on average would take 6-8 weeks to be done and done well for £250-£350, would mean handing it over to your most inexperienced member of staff. The residential conveyancing market is so weak in terms of income you need to take on a bulk offering to get any sort of return. The problem the profession and the idiots at the law society are now realising is that by dumbing it down and removing a cost cap is that people are now finding it very hard to get a senior member of a team to deal with a resi conveyance - £5/10k to deal with a commercial purchase or £350 to deal with a resi? I know which file I'd pick up more. If you can find them, go for the older firms stuck in their ways. They'll cost a bit more but you will have a better more hands on experience member of staff to deal with it. Just to defend the seller's solicitor in your situation. Banks usually have a 5-7-10 day from request to provide a redemption figure. The sellers solicitor may have delayed their request but the "delay" seems right to get the redemption figure right. Here is an example where experience would've sped up your process. They should've requested the figure from day one. That way they would've had an idea of the amount needed to redeem, if it was far below the sale price, they could've had more comfort in exchanging for their client knowing they would have enough regardless to redeem. The bank would also have their details which would've sped up the redemption process (reduces the request time frame from 5-7 days to 2-3 days for some banks). On the second posters point. That is, a commercial minded client. You probably took a view on a number of searches etc and bought with cash from a very keen/desperate seller. Your solicitor knowing this either overlooked a number of points or reported on them very carefully. For new build buyers in this topic. To speed up your process like this I would suggest (if you really were desperate for a quick exchange), ask the developer for the searches they undertook when they bought the land. They'd probably be out of date and you wouldn't be able to rely on them (the search provider owes you no duty of care unless you are the customer) but it can give your lawyer a heads up on red flag issues that may be worth a further bit of examination. You can than limit your searches and maybe seek indemnity insurance for the key ones (local, water & drainage and highways). Searches usually take th longest thing to come back in the conveyance. Anyone buying that needs some help which their solicitor is not assisting with, DM and I will provide guidance where I can. General land law issues may be a bit difficult (as do not specialise in it) but can point you in the right direction for the process - seen plenty of friends go mad with process to know th difficulties faced.

fix it , give mahrez a release clause
Mickyblueeyes replied to Almo-Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
You have to question a persons upbringing and the company he keeps if that really is his mentality. To quite clearly attempt to steal a living and perform to an extent to get what you want, nah that's not right in any walk of life. Its a shame really, he is an inspiration and role model for many but his actions probably go against what most would want their children to follow. He needs to see that. Than, hopefully for the right price, leave in the summer. -
fix it , give mahrez a release clause
Mickyblueeyes replied to Almo-Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Ok, we give him a release clause. £80 million - what we were asking for in January. His suitors do not pay it. What now? He matures, acts like a grown up and earns his salary? Or do you mean we agree a release clause lower than what we want for him. Therefore to suit Mahrez, to suit Man City and to lose money in the process? I think it it may be the latter you are implying you want to occur... Nah, if he wants to come back to play, let him. If not, and he truly believes the advice he is receiving is right, let him continue to strike. Why should Leicester always suffer? If he thinks he is doing this to reduce his price so the club do not have a choice, I say we dig our heels in too. Keep him for two years, we'll lose the same amount. The disrespect to the his team mates and the fans is at an extent, I genuinely do not care how that effects his career. Get your advisors to earn their money and get us our price. -
Manchester City (A)..pre match thread.
Mickyblueeyes replied to weller54's topic in Leicester City Forum
Split between going three in midfield or keeping the team as per Swansea. I think Kelechi is due his first league goal and will get it in this one.
