Yeah and who cares about the Via del Corso when we’ve got… New Waaaalk Lengthy footpath where dreams are made of There’s nothing you can’t do When you’re in New Waaalk Those trees will make you feel brand new The museum will inspire you…

It’s a classic Chinese Whispers story. Football Tweet cites TalkSport as its source, but TalkSport hasn’t even reported that the FA is considering Wiegman - they just published an article speculating about potential candidates. They also included Guardiola on the list.

I don't think I want him now

Southgate steps down as England manager

Right decision. We can be grateful to him for making England consistently reach the latter stages, but we need somebody else if we want to actually win something. -
I think the photo of him getting out of a car at the KP is an old one and was not of him turning up to sign his contract. However, judging from his social media posts he IS in the UK. So either he has signed and the club hasn't bothered to announce it or there has been some kind of hold-up. I'm pretty sure if it was done the club would have announced it, which means there has likely been a hold-up. Hopefully it's not a serious one.

Would he need a tour of the KP given that he's already played there for a whole season?

Southgate deserves credit for changing the culture and creating an environment in which players have been much happier playing for England than they have in the past. But having a positive culture can only take you so far. You need tactical intelligence, too - and this is where Southgate has repeatedly fallen down. We have very good attacking players whose club sides press high and move the ball quickly, but we did neither of those things consistently during the tournament. Then, having stumbled on a formation that worked better in the quarter-final and semi-final, he abandoned it in the final and we duly reverted to the same turgid football we'd played earlier in the tournament. Southgate's bizarre decision to not bother picking a fit left back in a squad of 26 (which crippled our left side) and his loyalty to a clearly unfit Kane also severely weakened us. Thanks Gareth, but it's time to move on.

Leicester City History Book on Ebay
ClaphamFox replied to Always Next Year's topic in Leicester City Forum
I have one - it's brilliant. But yes, I've no idea why anybody would pay £70 for one when you can get a new one for £20 less. -
I think a lot of people just look at the headline signing fees and assume we can't afford them without considering how the cost might be spread. Avoiding a PSR breach is more about wage bill management than transfer fees. And I suspect the sponsorship deal with BC Game has swelled our transfer budget considerably.

Last week he posted a tiktok video of himself in a supermarket in Nottingham, so he doesn’t appear to be in Ghana.

Behind a paywall, but The Times reckons that Howe is the FA's number one target if they can't persuade Southgate to stay: https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/article/eddie-howe-on-fa-shortlist-if-gareth-southgate-quits-england-sczl2lrzs?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1721051361

Oh I see - that makes more sense. He may have been a dodgy dude and it's possible - as has been reported - that he left the apartment on the other side of the island feeling scared for his safety, but that does not mean he was murdered. The fact that he was seen alone and confirmed in a phone call that he was alone suggests a lack of third party involvement. I suspect he was hungover, exhausted and dehydrated, and either lost his footing or just wasn't paying much attention to where he was walking.
-
I think this is key. If we can find somebody who will maintain the positive stuff Southgate has brought - ie, culture, squad morale and man management - but add some tactical sophistication and in-game management expertise, that would be a great appointment. Like you I'd much prefer Howe to Potter - but whether Howe would quit Newcastle for it is another matter.
-
Given that he was seen wandering on a road in an isolated area alone in very hot temperatures, and that he made a phone call in which he told somebody that he was lost, exhausted and didn't have any water, how do you come to the conclusion that it is 'more likely' that he was pushed or thrown rather than falling?
-
They never do. Most of them have already happily moved onto claiming the assassination attempt on Trump was staged. It's a way of life for them. With Jay Slater Michael Mosley, it appears to be a case of Brits in hot climates thinking, "I can walk X distance no problem" like they would at home, but completely underestimating the impact of the conditions. I can easily see how it could be done - it's the kind of thing I might have done myself. Hopefully these cases will help to raise some awareness of the risks of wandering about alone in very hot countries.
-
Have you not been there? It's great!

Which is a bit alarming for one of the two main political parties in a country of more than 330 million people...

I’m not suggesting Top tells the manager what to do on a match-by-match basis. However it is clear that Top wants us to play passing football and that he employs managers who deliver that (Puel, Rodgers, Maresca). Cooper must have convinced Top that he will play in a similar way or he wouldn’t have been given the job in the first place - hence why Coady’s comment that Cooper isn’t trying to change much is not at all surprising.

When I saw there had been a new post on this thread I feared the worst…

The only hope the Democrats have is to persuade Biden to step down immediately and find somebody very compelling to replace him - and even if they do that it will still be a long shot.
-
We seem very, very keen to get him. The club must believe his potential resale value is massive.

I was actually referring to Soule, not O’Riley. I forgot what thread I was in…🙄

Enzo was recruited specifically to play a certain way and the plan was for him to carry on doing that in the PL. That plan won’t change much just because Enzo isn’t around. It comes from the club’s owners.
