Excellent turn out for Coalville's first friendly of the season last night away to Dunton & Broughton, really enjoyable evening and looking forward to Friday!

England v Switzerland - Saturday 6 July

Have you not watched them? -
All you want to see if your team performing as close to the best of it's ability as possible, we get absolutely nowhere near that under Southgate, yet inevitably win more than we lose because of the talent available. Genuinely don't understand how people can swallow it, we're so poor. It's hard to see past Spain or Germany at the minute, shame they have to face each other so early on but it's setting up to be game of the tournament. Obviously anything can happen in knockout football, but they're put in the most consistently decent performances.

Rate Switzerland will be a step to far for Southgate ball. They've just stumbled past a team ranked lower than Panama in the world rankings and giving it the biggun. The fact that they're all strumming themselves silly tells me that that they see nothing wrong with the previous 4 games. -

That ping with the left was clean at the end! Looks like an absolute natural, the lad absolutely needs to be playing first team football next season. -
Switzerland vs Italy - Saturday 29th June
filbertway replied to StanSP's topic in General Football and Sport
Fancy Switzerland to take the lead - then it all depends on the attitudes afterwards. If they decide to try and sit on it then you know the Italians will find a way back into it. I think they should be looking to get at an Italian team that looks fairly fragile and not give them any free confidence boosters by sitting off. I'm not saying pure it needs to be pure Bielsa ball, but don't just retreat into your own third and try and see it out. Get me booked in for a football masterclass talk. -
Even when they defend on the edge of the box attackers are still managing to get in behind him. He was somewhat fortunate with the Serbia goal being offside yesterday, although I will concede that the fact the player was offside did make it trickier for him to cover the player.

It sounds like you're describing a teaching assistant more than someone from HR to be fair

Clarke and Southgate are 2 peas in a beige pod I was amazed the England fans were so vocal through much of the game yesterday. -
Group C: Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia, England

They're so beige and placid. Pedaling the same boring lines and lowering standards game by game, it annoys me I've seen these players have winning mentalities at their clubs, yet when they meet up with southgate they turn into kittens with no ambition. -

To be fair, I get it, there's only so much you can watch you team make absolutely no effort to do anything other than try not to concede goals. -

Yeah that's a fair point. Looking at those clips you'd say Wharton is exactly the type of footballer Southgate is saying he doesn't have available. -

I thought the same but then compared all 3 from the last season and Gallagher seems to have the edge in terms of passing https://www.squawka.com/en/comparison-matrix/?compare=5ODReChS1-XYKe1K9d51U -
League One & Two - 2024/25 season

Mad that they've had to ask Birmingham for a comment considering someone at the club must have already told the reporter that this happened. -
Probably 2 of the quickest players at the tournament, not sure there's any shame in that.

They've got Marcus Alonso and Oriel Romeu They seem to be signing average players from the Prem and then basically using their academy to fill the rest.

Has it been confirmed? I went down to 0.25 speed and it wasn't conclusive from the still I managed to get. Either way, when I made my initial point, I hadn't realised the whole offside thing even existed. I'd just watched the slow mo of Armstrong coming to a stop, stepping side ways and cocking his leg up like he was about to take a piss up a fire hydrant -
Well considering they can probably afford to pay us about £50 I'd rather not sell to them.

The more I watch that Armstrong attempt at cheating the funnier it gets. He has absolutely zero interest in the ball and is just looking to manufacture contact with a defender that was nowhere near him Only shame is he didn't get a booking, but rate the ref not buying it. Taylor or Oliver would have been calling it a pen and then it'd have been given by the VAR boys despite how ridiculously exaggerated Armstrong's movements were.
