  1. Vestergaard coming out of cryogenesis every time we enter the Championship
  2. ...Did you expect them to suddenly start signing PL players?
  3. Sure? They'll always be a counter-example won't there? All I'm saying is that part of the positive predictions for Birmingham, is based on momentum from last season's 111pts - and momentum is a phenomenon we know can matter in football.
  4. Sure, it's not common. I'm just saying that it's evidence of the power of momentum. And surely there's some momentum to be gained from ambitious ownership splashing the cash and 111 points?
  5. This isn't that outlandish. I don't know anything about their incomings signings, but they're spending a lot and coming off the back of a 111pt season - we should know better than most clubs how powerful momentum can be. And look at Ipswich when they were last in the Championship...
  6. That's what confused me
  7. When did we make £10m profit on Tom Cannon?
  8. If West Ham wanted an "alternative" goalkeeper they should have gone for Ward
  9. Right, so my point is, where was the public outcry when PL clubs started showing their support for Ukraine?
  10. Right, so I guess what I'm saying is, what is the measure for what is acceptable political messaging at and during football matches? Support for Ukraine = acceptable Support for Thailand = unacceptable Seemingly on the basis of Ukraine vs Russia being obvious who is the victim and who is the oppressor, whereas Thailand vs Cambodia is less clear. Which suggests that the measure of acceptability isn't the message itself but just whose side we agree with or not? Or who we can clearly side with or not? EDIT: imagine if Top was Ukrainian and he had used his position as owner to promote support for Ukraine all over the stadium and during matches - would we have the same complaints?
  11. I can't say I know the specific details of the Thailand-Cambodia border dispute/conflict (I only just read about it this morning). But isn't Cambodia the aggressor? Didn't lots of PL / EFL clubs show support for Ukraine when they got invaded by Russia? What's the difference? (I'm not saying there is no difference, I'm philosophically asking).
  12. You can be that transparent when you’re the selling club…
  13. That was when we were promoted under Maresca, not sure if applicable to any others
  14. £7.5m + £1m in add-ons according to some sources. £70,000 per week rising to £100,000 per week upon promotion, according to some sources - although that could have been Winks instead.
  15. What else are they supposed to put in an email?
  16. We want better communication and engagement between the club and fan groups. This new development says "if you're a fan group, please get in touch and we'll link up with you" What's the problem? What am I missing here?
  17. Hard to say. The squad could change a fair bit between now and September 2nd, despite it currently looking slow/stagnant on sales. I imagine we might get late offers for Hermansen, Ndidi, El Khanous and some crappy loan deals / nominal deals for some other deadwood. How we'll play / start is still unknown. I think the optimism for all the young players is bit premature / overstated - I don't think we can expect to through tons of untested youth players into the starting lineup and still expect to get playoffs or better. I'd be surprised if anyone other than Nelson, Alves and Monga make any kind of impression, but maybe I've not paid enough attention to pre-season. And I think Ipswich/Southampton/Birmingham will be out-competing us for autos.
  18. Only thing with Faes is he has 2 years left on his deal. I'm not sure he particularly enjoys it here given, he's probably aware he's not popular with the fans and there's often been talk of moves away. Does he really want 2 more years of this?
  19. Is it not the 35 players total and the '28 have to be registered' is the seniors - i.e 7 youth players who don't 'count'
  20. 2-1 to Leicester. It's live on YT
  21. 42 days until the window shuts. Time for us to get a least 1 signing done...
  22. Harsh on him? He was solid for us in the Championship and his pens, crosses and screamers weren’t one-offs
  23. I wonder if our desire to see the deadwood gone is making us overvalue our young players. I'll be surprised if anyone other than Monga, Nelson and Alves make an impression this season. It's great to have optimism for the future with some of the young players coming through - but only if they're good enough. And most of them have barely player. And certainly not 40+ games in the Championship. If we're halfway through the season and struggling, will FT still be signing their praises?
  24. The issue is that £10m profit is likely not enough for us to consider selling one of our best players.
  25. Makes sense to sell him. If he went, pretty sure our current longest serving player would be Ricardo (who could also leave)? Other than him, the entire squad (barring youth players) has barely been here more than 2-3 years.
