And for what it's worth, I've always been incredibly neutral towards Cifuentes and he's done nothing either way so far to knock me off the fence - but that's probably also to do with the wider malaise the club finds itself in.

Thing is, we know that so many of the decisions in football are subjective, so I don't know why VAR should equal = perfection. We should expect that VAR increases accuracy of 'key decisions' which is has done, but it can't ever achieve 'perfection'

And it's easy now with hindsight to say he could have either dinked it over the keeper, or even taken a touch to go around the keeper's right and then pop it into the empty net. The hardest option is probably to shoot to the keeper's left, but he wanted to open his body up to do so and never got his shape correct - but is it me or is the pass slightly under hit from Ayew (who otherwise did everything else in this move perfectly?)

Seems to me that it was a tactical choice to play a bit more Enzoball on saturday, given how dangerous Cov can be on the counter - we saw how direct they were throughout the match - I'd wager we put a lot more emphasis on stopping transitions (the trade off being less explosive attacks of our own). And it worked, because we largely reduced Cov's chances and had we been more clinical would have had a win again

Am I the only one who thinks it would be an injustice if the the Blackburn v Ipswich game isn’t replayed? it’s only 1-0. Yes they’re down to 10 men but you’re all acting like no team has ever equalised from such a position, which is of course a nonsense. if LCFC were in Ipswich’s position I find it hard to believe this forum would be gladly giving Blackburn 3 points?

Wow that’s one way to make the Championship far less interesting. with the top 3 places being automatic promotion, most teams will have nothing to play for, for the final third or so of the season. it’d be like having no European places in the PL

This already applies to the current playoff system. If you extend this logic you’d want no playoffs and only the top 3 going up automatically?
