Exactly that mate, don’t fancy Okoli or Thomas in that role either. You either keep Kristiansen as a LW/LWB option or like you say, move him on. Personally I think it has to be the LB that tucks in, would give us far better balance on the right side, using either Ricardo or Justin as a RB/RWB. You could also potentially use Justin as the LB who tucks in.

If 3atb in possession is here to stay, then on the basis of last night. FB who tucks in as a CB LWB/LW WG/Number 10 ST who can drop deep and link Those are the four positions that are needed, but also on the basis of last night, a new WG/Number 10 must be left sided, Soule is not the answer imo.

Hopefully Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are kind enough to take him off our hands.

A fluid mixture of 3-4-2-1/3-4-3 could potentially work, get Mavididi and Fatawu drifting into wide areas, then have the wing-backs either sitting back or invert them like two 8’s/10’s Whether people like it or not, 3atb looks here to stay, Cooper is just continuing on with what Maresca left but with a few tweaks. 3atb in possession for me works when you’re either starting Vestergaard or Coady, Vestergaard as the centre piece in a back three was crucial to how we played last season. The thought of using Vestergaard or Coady in a four in and out of possession is terrifying, unless you park the bus.

The most head scratching thing to come out of last night is Fatawu’s situation. It was pretty evident that in possession was a fluid mix of 3-4-1-2 and 3-4-2-1. Then comes the problem, where does Fatawu go? If Cooper is insistent on using a back three system, whatever system he uses I can’t see it playing to Fatawu’s strengths. It’s either adopt him as a wing-back in a 3-4-1-2, or use him as an inverted winger in a 3-4-2-1, but of course it would probably then be Ricardo providing the width. I think these setups can very much work for Mavididi, I thought he did pretty well last night, plus he does have history of playing centrally at times when he was at Montpellier. But the Fatawu situation is a conundrum and something Cooper must tweak. In a 3-4-1-2 as a right sided wing-back, I wouldn’t be overly keen, but he does have the energy and defensive work where he could potentially work in that role 🤷♂️ Exactly that Strider, but after last night one of the first things I thought was the potential signing of Soule is not needed. For the right balance Fatawu must be on the right, which would then mean whoever starts on the left wing, comes inside as the number 10, this is why I’d rather go for someone like Puertas over Soule. But if you tweak it slightly to 3-4-2-1 in possession, then you’re left with Fatawu being used as an inverted winger. Then the signing of Soule would look even more unnecessary, but if he does sign, one of them will probably be shafted to the bench if you go 3-4-2-1. Then also with a 3-4-2-1 the whole left side would need changing. The potential signing of Saelemaekers looks far more plausible on the basis of last night. While we’d also need another signing in that LB/LCB slot, don’t fancy Okoli, Kristiansen or Thomas in that role.

Would something like this be viable 🤔 New Striker and Winger/CAM to come in for Daka and McAteer. Starting Formation In Possession I’d be sacking off the Soule deal and go for Cameron Puertas instead.

Early initial thoughts, 3-4-1-2 when in possession surely needs tweaking. During his time at Swansea and Forest, Cooper used a number of back three systems, whether that being 3-4-1-2, 3-5-2, 3-4-2-1. Decision number one has to be getting Fatawu on the right, if Cooper wants to remain with 3-4-1-2, then he may have to consider starting Ricardo at LW/LWB or even at CM. Then potentially use Justin as a RB who comes in to join a back three. Or you tweak things slightly by going 3-4-2-1 when in possession, then use Mavididi and Fatawu as two 10’s who can drift out wide.

Bloody hope Cooper realises that, but Welsh friends and all that They’d probably send us Kepa instead.

Edit... @adam beat my joke by 1 minute

So to sum up that game... Will Alves is best player in the World and Okoli is the new Amartey.
-
I’m guessing that’s either 4-3-3 with Ndidi and McAteer as 8’s, or 4-2-3-1 with McAteer as a 10 🤔

According to Wyscout, Fatawu averaged 46.36% for accurate crosses in the Championship last season. Of right wingers, only Yaser Asprilla of Watford averaged better.

After classing Cooper as the Ponty Pep yesterday, you may need to revert that to the Ponty Pulis

Neither, unfortunately they are just getting with the times. Plenty of clubs are doing it now through their streaming services, whether that being us with Foxes Hub, or EFL clubs through ifollow for example. Sadly this very much looks like the norm going forward, the days of Friendlies being on YouTube could be a thing of the past, unless they are kind enough to revert their decision, which probably is unlikely

Come on Strider, not if he plays the CAM role

Plenty of good talented goalkeepers 25 and under are coming through in France. But on the basis of the 23/24 season, I have to say Lucas Chevalier, Guillaume Restes and Marcin Bulka have jumped the queue ahead of the likes of Diouf. Chevalier would be unrealistic, but think we could get Restes if Hermansen did depart, if Restes continues to develop like he did last season, he’ll be going to the very top.

Agreed! 🤣
