  1. After all this no one will move and we’ll re sign King
  2. I do think he’s improved in an attacking sense but still has work to do on his defensive positioning. The most important factor has been the change in style of the club which has suited him and helped develop certain aspects and hide others. I haven’t seen any visiting player (with the exception of Liverpool’s freak full backs) who I thought would be his equal or upgrade so his sale would be a backwards step in my opinion.
  3. I completely agree that I and 40% of respondents to that poll thought that in Feb 2018 that Chilwell wasn’t much better than Schlupp at that point. His improvement in the 2 1/2 years since has been admirable and I definitely think he’ll be a huge loss and more difficult to replace than Maguire due to his style of play; I for one don’t want him sold. if you took great schadenfreude from that poll wait till you see what I wrote about Vardy back in 2014 or Pearson mk1.
  4. Any pass that directly leads to a shot/attempt on goal. Anything immediately cleared wouldn’t count.
  5. He’s done well but he’s done well in three matches. The more he plays the more he’ll be scouted and a profile established and then we’ll see how good he can become.
  6. Yes. We have a lack of funds because we have to spend our money on our top players wages. Our wage to turn over ratio is 84%, or £150m. That’s the third worst in the league. UEFA recommend no higher than 70%. Every contract extension further increases the strain and with King the only certain departure we don’t have much money to play with. The two players you’ve mentioned both earn close to or more than Vardy. Firmino is on £180k. So, again, I fail to see how the argument that we should dispense with the league’s top scorer and change our style of play actually makes sense.
  7. This isn’t an unpopular opinion it’s an ill thought out one. The problem isn’t our 23 goal Premier league top scorer but rather the lack of goals and support from behind him and the lack of depth in the squad. That lack of depth isn’t due to poor recruiting but a lack of funds. To keep the likes of Evans, Kasper, N’didi, Ricardo, Chilwell, Tielemans, Maddison and Vardy we have to use our budget on their wages. The consequences of that is we need to keep cheaper support players. Overhauling the squad isn’t possible unless we regularly sell one top player. Vardy’s sale value is far lower than his goal and points value to us.
  8. He’s just Danny Tiatto in a wig.
  9. Ignoring the blandness of the kit, I really don’t get the slogan. From a marketing perspective it has no clear message. Would ‘visit Thailand’ not have made more sense? To anyone else not particularly au fait with Leicester City the slogan is confusing at best. Why on earth is Thailand smiling with me? To even those who do get the reference it’s a strange choice to target such a small group of people. assuming it’s a dodge to avoid ffp It doesn’t seem to subtle a dodge.
  10. Surely the only way to lessen the shitness of that kit is to put the three stripes and logo in gold or switch the sleeve colouring so the block colour is white, then blue then gold?
  11. There’s something very Spursy about this group. We bottle it whenever there’s the slightest whiff of a struggle or pressure. From rolling over for Liverpool at home, to freezing against a Villa side featuring no strikers, to throwing away another chance in the FA Cup, this squad just don’t have the mentality needed. We’re serial bottlers. Everyone looks to someone else to dig the team out or take control. No in game management from the players; no one to put a marker down and drive them on; no one to take the game by the scruff of the neck. The space we afforded one of the worst sides in the league was criminal, we let them walk into the area and shoot. The goal we did score was comical. Nacho fluffed the shot, the defender cleared an off target shot back into Vardy’s path to scramble in. We used the January window to bring in an oil tanker of a centre back with the distribution of yodel. Rather than kicking on we’ve slammed on the handbrake and started reversing at speed. And as for subbing an attacker at half time against one of the most inept defences...
  12. We were over performing, now we're under performing. Brendan has made some good players better and some average players good. I don't lay the blame for this slump at Brendan's door. He's using the squad he has and we've been over reliant on Barnes having an exceptional season and having a back four that is both swashbuckling and secure. We need to strengthen the squad, move on some ok players and get in some who, rather than just being able to do a job, can change a game when they come on. We also need some old heads throughout. The midfield needs an established and experienced player who can better managed stages of games.
  13. Hamza Choudhury.
  14. Me too. It was no frills and aimed exclusively at little kids. Had a real charm in the simplicity of the fun, attracted just the right sort of crowd in terms of not appealing to older children who might frighten the younger ones. The most endearing aspect was its charitable status; to have such a wonderful area with free access for all is such a commendable thing and meant all social groups could mix, no one would be priced out, everyone could pick and choose what to enjoy without the fear of not being able to afford to go. I really hope they can raise enough money to get the attractions up and running again.
  15. Great article.
  16. Weirdly I'd suspect the 85m figure is something Chelsea are pushing to give them two clear options. a. They can claim they got a bargain if they sign him for less b. They can claim he was over priced if they fail to sign him
  17. I don't think we needed a Cags to replace Maguire. It's a bonus that we had him here already but his style of play isn't integral. We could have two Johnny Evans' and be just as fine. At CB our system just needs a good defender. At full back we need a good attacker who can do some defending
  18. I think his departure would be far more detrimental than the Maguire one [regardless of the fact we had Soynucu here already]. Our system didn't rely on Maguire, he helped but wasn't integral to our style of play; a pair of marauding full-backs are crucial to how we play, losing Chilwell will be a huge blow and a really difficult one to replace.
  19. WTF? You mean it is a shame we're not endangering the health and lives of construction workers
  20. Very brave of the Prem to suspend a grand total of ... [checks notes] ... one round of fixtures. The longer the suspension the longer it will take to re-start. With no training taking place there will need to be amid season 'pre season'.
  21. What on earth are you on about? Utter drivel.
  22. Pretty slow growing seeds considering it took him another four and a half years to buy us...
