  1. I once sold and moved because of that. By buying isolated properties I’ve never had a close neighbour since.
  2. Lots? I presume that you have older wiring then, red, black and green and the new appliance has brown, blue and green/yellow. If so, red and brown, black and blue, green and green/yellow all correlate. It shouldn’t be more complicated than that hopefully 👍 edit. Before taking any wires out, photos on phone can be very useful.
  3. You need to isolate those switches at the main board (fuse box/consumer unit) and test the switch (the one with the fuse on the right in your picture) to make sure it is not live. If the one you’re replacing is also 1700w then there shouldn’t be an issue leaving as is. If you’re in any doubt about doing it, don’t take a risk, electricity kills.
  4. If it’s definitely an identical like for like then diy, just take precautions when you isolate, always do a second check at the fused switch/spur.
  5. Only having two genders should help too.
  6. Pay no attention, lots of these idiots have been emboldened recently by you know who and you know what.
  7. There’s slaughter going on in the West Bank atm, armed settlers backed up by Israeli soldiers.
  8. The tax is supposed to go towards local infrastructure. Helps pay for street cleaning, maintenance, attractions etc. I’ve no problem paying, especially as it’s normally quite a small amount.
  9. Which Iceland in North Wales are you going to? I've heard the one in Caernarfon is pretty good.
  10. I think it’s sanctions rather than tariffs

    Depression

Hey @Wymsey, everyone here is talking sense but I understand that emotions don’t deal well with that… You say you love her so this makes it far more difficult to navigate. I would ask to meet up, somewhere neutral, and go armed with a logical set of questions that need answering (try to concentrate on important questions, don’t dwell on petty stuff). Think of potential solutions too, if you can preempt her issues. I know it’s hard to separate logic from emotion but if you want clarity it’s probably the quickest way to determine if you have a future together. Keep your chin up and best of luck 👍
  13. It should be so much easier to navigate though, I remember a while ago trying to change phone contracts and going round in circles. Now it’s done by sending a simple text.
  14. Another example of an ombudsman not fit for purpose.
  15. There’s a genuine lack of understanding with regards to free speech in the general population which is causing so much harm and division. I’m not sure it’s possible to correct the masses of misinformation in the public domain, especially when the media are involved.
  16. Hang in there bud, go over to the depression thread and post a few words, or reply here. Believe me when I say you’re not alone, you’re lonely. There are people who can help, you need to call out. My DM’s are open for you. Best wishes.

    Houses

Good luck, been there and I wouldn’t recommend. Just don’t make an impulsive purchase because of your situation, it’s easy to do…
  21. It’s what they planned for. Remove everybody by any means, destroy infrastructure making it uninhabitable for anyone wanting to return whilst grabbing as much land as possible. Since Christmas there have been more than a hundred deaths, including women and children, and even up to yesterday illegal settlers were in the West Bank driving people out and stealing land. I’ve mentioned before, I have family and friends working for aid agencies out there who have witnessed horrendous war crimes that no one will ever be accountable for.
  22. Appreciate your input (and confidence) but I might be tempted in about 10 years if the market somehow goes that way. There was almost a readily available market for EV’s as there was already a partial structure in place (ie. electricity supply) but it’s still taken a while to convince Joe Public that EV’s will work for most people. The fossil fuel industry has done a brilliant job of scaremongering but hopefully the industry will grow and the vehicles will drop in price (they already have) and become more affordable for the masses. I think I read recently that EV’s are the highest selling vehicles in growth terms and diesel the lowest. I’m doing a lot of cheerleading here and I don’t even own one yet 😂
  23. *spoiler They probably won’t
  24. That delivery method looks interesting although I don’t know enough about it yet. The idea of “mini pods” would make this a game changer if the other hurdles (already mentioned by others in this thread) were overcome. Otoh, I still have my Betamax ready to fire up 👍
  25. Not sure these should even be in this thread, maybe start a new one? Pre-order the 2022 model now for delivery end 2026. Starting price £75,000. Look great on paper and in the online descriptions but not convinced they’ll ever make it to mass market. The EV charging infrastructure is already massively improved in the uk (compared to 2/3 years ago) and the cars I’ve driven are fantastic, so much better than ICE models. The looks/styling somewhat lets them down imo but I’d be all in if my wife was convinced. Still trying to convince her but she doesn’t like change and unfortunately has been victim to naysayers on social media talking about range anxiety, cost of repairs, battery fires etc. I’ve fitted a charging point whilst doing a rewire so already prepped for the future (incidentally, I bought the charger and cabling and fitted it all myself, just had the sparky test at the consumer unit as part of the rewire so cost for charger and cable was about £500)
