There is a lot of support for this war in the Russian population, obviously because of the state propaganda, but I also believe their government reflects the soul of the people to a degree. Forgive me if that's xenophobic, but it's how I feel now. I always found Russia so fascinating, we were due to visit Moscow and St Petersburg before covid hit, but now we will never go there. I've enjoyed this Russian vloggers channel for a couple years now, she explains how there is sadly a lot of support for this invasion amongst normal Russian people:

Woke up to a god awful video of dead civilians in Mariupol, most in their pyjamas and some with hands tied. Looks like a holocaust scene. As horrible as it is it's important we see this as a planet. Just look on the Ukraine reddit page. I will never forgive Russia for this.

He's clearly in total shock at the ineptness of the Russian military, they are now undeniably losing this war and he doesn't know what to do. Clearly the Oligarchs are turning and he's trying to turn the public against them I guess?

Last ever shift on ICU tonight. Feels so strange as it's all I've ever known since I qualified 11 1/2 years ago really. Work is busy with surgeries and also a lot of overdoses lately, but very little covid in icu. Those few we are getting continue to be unvaccinated men around 35-50 years old with Omicron or Delta. I'm starting to feel a lot more like my old self again.

The obese, smokers and drinkers never caused us to give worse care in horrible conditions in cramp double-pendanted bedspaces, all because they know better than the greatest virologists in the world. The obese, drinkers and smokers never made me admit an 18 year old girl with Leukemia into a room full of unvaccinated men in their 40s, because the system didn't allow otherwise and she would have died if we hadn't. Do you know what would have happened to her if she got covid with zero immune system? This is one of many examples. Why do others have to suffer because of what unvaccinated people did to our critical care services? I am so so sick and tired of this ignorance.

The fact you're not vaccinated demonstrates your contempt for everything the frontline have had to go through these past 2 years. Me and my team have been through hell all of 2021 and it is because of people not bothering to get a simple vaccine, why should you be allowed to continue working in a hospital around vulnerable patients, or around staff who then look after vulnerable patients? You have absolutely zero sympathy from me if you lose your job and it's 100% your own bed to lie in. Let just hope that bed isn't on an icu because you won't get a simple jab.

This affects me too, I will be losing colleagues over this, and yes I think it's stupid they won't get vaccinated because of social media (and that is all it boils down to). You will never meet a virologist who won't get the vaccine, just people with little to no education in the matter.

I have to get a hep b vaccine and boosters to work as a nurse with vulnerable patients, why is a covid vaccine suddenly any different? This is so stupid.

I mean it kiiiind of has a second bathroom. It's an amazing house just needs a bit of work in places, never ceases to amaze me what you can get for your money when you move out of the South East.

Work getting busier again, we had a beautiful week where we were at our normal bed capacity. All unvaccinated men as usual, all under 50, most have normal BMI and no medical history. So avoidable. Counting my shifts now I am so sick and tired of this. Actually we were sick and tired a year ago, not sure what this is now.
