Guest Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Sky did a "best Premier League midfielder" poll other day and the only options were Gerrard, Scholes, Vieira, Keane and Toure. It's like if you didn't/don't play for a club you don't exist... Le Tissier, for example, should have been on it. Hoddle'll be disappointed not to be a nominee, he played 1 season in the prem didn't he?
Fox92 Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Hoddle'll be disappointed not to be a nominee, he played 1 season in the prem didn't he? Must have played a couple because he was at Swindon and then Chelsea (or the other way around). Another great player Hoddle, easily one of the best this Country has ever produced.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Lampard - just think he's the more complete player, Gerrard can be a bit predictable in his play
Jimothy Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Lampard - just think he's the more complete player, Gerrard can be a bit predictable in his play Seriously? I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but seriously. Argue that Lampard scored more goals, argue he maybe had a longer prime, or that he wasn't injured as much, but to say he was the more complete player, what a ridiculous statement.

Gerrard is more 'hollywood' but lamps is a more complete player - and I'm backed up by the poll....
Tom's Pasta Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 The thing that has tainted Gerard's career is that he has made a lot of high profile mistakes in crucial moments in big games. But I also think Gerard was a more complete footballer than Lampard. Lampard is a better goal scoring midfielder but Gerard is your more complete all action midfielder. Very difficult but I would say I'd rather have Gerard in my team, just. *gerrard... I blame autocorrect
maynefox Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 In 2005, Steven Gerrard came Third in the Ballon d'Or award; a fantastic achievement! Guess who was the runner up? .... Lampard.
AyewJoking Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 I think Gerrard was superior to Lampard when they were younger but Lampard certainly aged better where as Gerrards all action style became pretty limited the older he got.
Wymsey Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 A few years ago I would've said Gerrard, just; but with Gerrard more 'bulky', he hasn't really maintained the adventurous energetic style he had in recent seasons, which Lampard still has and he's a few years older - so probably Lampard now.
