Non-League Football 2015/2016

Can't see Solihull making the same mistake they did against Coalville a couple of years back by weakening their team too much. Should be them into the 3rd qualifying round.

We've got a pretty uninspiring home tie against Spalding who are in the same league as us. Hopefully we can get past them and be 2 games from a possible FA Cup first round tie again.

I'm praying Solihull can get to the first round, just hope a cup run doesn't effect league form.

You do tend to find that the teams that go on cup runs are doing well in the league. Should be easy enough to maintain momentum in both competitions. I assume they've got a pretty decent squad of 16/18.

Yeah they have, very good squad in fact. Playing 3-5-2 as well, so physically fit group of lads, they can run all day. Young Leicester lad called Connor Franklin, never seen someone who can run the left wing back role like he can, literally as quick in the 90th minute as he is in the first minute.

Solihull at home to Oadby in the second qualifying round!

Disappointing draw on Saturday away to Bradford PA, Bradford went 1-0 up after 5 minutes, down to 10 me in the 10th minute and took Solihull until the 82nd minute to equalise. The manager had made all three changes at HT.

Fingers crossed it was just a blip and the Moors can go and beat Curzon on Saturday, I'll be back watching. Still unbeaten and 4 points clear!

A few of my mates play for Oadby and a good mate plays for Solihull so might go over and watch it.

Who's the lad at Solihull mate?

Sam Taylor is one of your pals isn't he?

Yeah, seems to be a popular formation, we've been playing that the past 2 or 3 seasons. It's crazy the shifts the wing backs put in. Solihull actually had our right wing back for half a season after his performance in the trophy against them. He's back with us now, absolute machine.

Hope they do well, nice fans from what I remember. Very hospitable to us considering we poured off the bus at 12 absolutely hammered haha.

Hinckley AFC made a good start and managed to beat Redditch United in the First Qualifying Round after getting through the Extra-Preliminary and Preliminary Rounds. Chasetown up next and with the players they have there's no reason they can't get the win. Would bring in a total of £10,000 in the FA Cup prize funds. Would be nice to see how far they can go but the First Round Proper would be a miracle!

Connor Franklin, he'll be happy with you thinking he's a young lad, he turned 28 at the start of the month.

Yeah Taylor is text us straight the way when he found out. Also friend with Pez Johnson & Laths who both play centre half. Adam Hart also who's the assistant manager, you might know him he was at Loughborough Dynamo for a few years.

Every time at the Boro they announce the Solihull Moors score, the PA always says "Nuneaton B team". seeing as most of the squad played for Boro last season. James Armson, Gaz Dean, Adam Walker, Theo Streete, Connor Franklin, Andy Brown.

Ah really? When I go to home games I drive in with Connor or Cons as I call him, great footballer. Small world! Always knew we knew we had a fair few mutual friends.

Yeah awful amount of Nuneaton players at the Moors, thankfully they chose to come over, all of them have been brilliant since signing.

Yeah he's a really nice lad, his brother Zak is a good footballer as well though he plays local football like ourselves.

Leicestepool will probably know this, where did Wes York end up? I'm sure there was a few rumours of Pearson looking at him a few years ago when he was at Nuneaton.

He joined Wrexham when Kevin Wilkin left us to join them.

Yeah alot I wasn't surprised that Gaz Dean, James Armson and Adam Walker left in the summer, but I assumed they would have joined a conference. I was very surprised to hear them sign for a rival conference north team, cause they are all very good players and did well in conference. Is Andy Brown playing many games, cause I heard he had some fitness problems.

Browny has done alright, nothing special. Dragged at HT on Saturday, but he likes the ball up to him, even though he can play, you can see his strength is in the air. Solihull play quick football along the deck and get Stefan Moore in behind and Asante (young lad from Birmingham City) who is electric. Think he'll struggle to hold a place down to be honest. James Armson has struggled to get in!

Stefan moore, that name rings a bell. Is that Luke Moores brother? Were they both at Villa?

Yeah both were at Villa. Stef has been pretty much everywhere, looks to be settled now.. Not relying on the money and just seems happy to be playing football. Darren Byfield is player/coach as well there.

2-0 win on Saturday, stay 3 points clear with a game in hand.

Oadby at home on Saturday in the FA Cup, Walshy let me know if you head over.

Torquay United have received 129 CVs for the vacant manager's job so far.

Must be something in the water down in Devon.

But three quarters of those applications land straight in the bin, anyway. What do potential managerial candidates use as a cover sheet, I wonder?

Solihull beat Oadby Town 3-1, Solihull were 1 nil down with 75 minutes gone which made the Moods gaffer bring on three of their best players Beswick, Moore and Daly and the game changed, along with Oadby's tired legs. Bit of needle before and during the game, as Oadby had got their hands on the Solihull scout report, which said some true facts that didn't go down well with Oadby about their players. All scout reports are like the one that they read.

Hahah not sure why they'd be offended or upset. Surely if they don't think it's true then that's a good thing for them as it's inaccurate info.

We lost 3-0 to Spalding yesterday in one of the weirdest games I have seen.

Referee sent our player off for swearing at him after not getting a free kick for being tackled. Then they bagged a goal. Then another player was sent off for swearing at the ref after being fouled again. Doesn't feel right to complain about it but I've never seen that happen before. They then bagged another out of the blue with a speculative overhead kick and it was game over. We also lost 2 key players to injury in the first half.

Gave a decent account of ourselves second half, then the ref capped off his odd performance by awarding a penalty to Spalding after the lino who was much closer said it wasn't a penalty. Not one player, fan or member of staff cheered or applauded when they scored the peno haha.

The fans applauded and cheered off both sets of players and then gave the ref dogs abuse as he walked off.

Good luck to them in the next round, will be following Solihull's progress as well as they go on.

The scout report did say one of their players was slightly better than Sunday League standard (Walshy's mate lol), one not good enough and another overweight.

Hoping for a nice draw and also hoping Bignot doesn't rest players again.

I'm in a group text with him and we got it sent through on Thursday morning. Oh how we laughed & took the piss out of him. He took it well to be fair.

"Sam Taylor, fairly tall (6 ft 1 inches approx), slow, strong" lol lol

Not spoke to him properly yet, how did he play? He was deveasted in the morning and it was touch & go whether he'd play as his dog had to be put down.

Laths (Oadby captain) played well apparently didn't he.
