Had Pearson taken us as far as he could?

I do think Pearson has been on a learning curve and at times it seemed to take an interminable age for the 'penny to drop'. He isn't as intelligent as he thinks he is, and although I think he would have continued to move us up the table, it does not mean there are not better options for us.

Always a risk with choosing a new manager, but we need the next one to be better than the last.

Pearson did OK, but let us not be blinded by the last 14 games, maybe we would do well to form a little perspective and remember Pearson's persistant arrogance, because just like most managers he was not as good as he thought he was.

What kind of BS is this? Keeping us up was more than OK, and I don't care if we'd spread our points out over the course of the season. The last 14 games?? What about the first five games? That adds up to half a season you want people to 'ignore'. Fact of the matter is he did what was required, and he did it in circumstances where close to everyone had him and the team written off. He did this by being stubborn and keeping on genuinely believing and instilling that same belief in the players. That is something quite special and anyone who says otherwise is bloody clueless.

Besides, how would you know how good he thought he was? On the contrary, he seemed baffled that he was even up for the Manager of the Year award.

No I think he could of stabilised us as a mid table side. Don't think he could take us to the heights the Thais want to reach though

He has passed every hurdle that has been put in front of him. Some said he wasn't proven at Championship level after he got us up from League one. Some said he wouldn't ever get us up from the Championship. Some said he couldn't keep us up in the PL. A lot of the players he has signed have been criticised, yet they have all been proven to be good signings. All the questions that had been put out against him, have been answered.

Think someone made the point about trust with the board. If that relationship was restrained had he continued, whereby he had no say in signings and how the club was run, it would have been a disaster. If he was left free in his reigns to make signings and have more of a say, I think we could have gone on a lot further. The irony of the sacking was due to non-footballing reasons, yet surely that has to be the major factor when considering a managers position. On the back of the greatest escape ever, this has to be the worst possible timing for us fans to sack a manager. His position for the foreseeable future had to be secured considering the drastic turnaround.

With the way things were shaping up as well, I was convinced we would be mid table at least this coming season. Now we would do well to stay up imo. Look at the impact when a good manager leaves a club. Sometimes certain managers are made for certain clubs and NP was the one for us. Some examples are: Fergie and United, Harry and Pompey, Jose and Chelsea. When all three first left, their respective clubs struggled and when the latter two came back they had more success.
