Love the day date. And 40 ish years still going, probably go for other 40

The time keeping on it is spot on…. I have a few early quartz models…. And the engineering that went into them was astonishing…. custom-grown, high-frequency quartz crystals, which were engineered to within an inch of their lives!

it a very rare 2.4 MHz Marine Chronometer - really over engineered

this doesn’t miss a beat

I really fancy an Aqua Terra with a quartz movement but couldn't bring myself to pay over £2k for a 10-20 year old watch. Also very wary of fakes.

I owned one many years ago

the 36mm on the older model (with the applied indices) are lovely…. Mine was 39mm, but I think it looks better on the 36mm

You can pay for validation on eBay, join a watch forum or scour second hand jewellers

cheap would be £1k (36mm) and £1.5k for the 39mm

but get the older model, much nicer dial

I have a AT 41mm - great watch (Mine is automatic though), I literally can't believe what omega are doing with there prices. I bought it for 4.6k in 2021, same watch is 6.1k now. Its more expensive than a rolex OP and nearly the same price as Rolex Explorer 1. Nuts.

Yep…. I don’t really buy new watches (I’m into vintage stuff), but they’re full on mental

You can still get deals in the second hand market and, personally, I don’t put much value in visiting a posh boutique and having a glass of Prosecco!!!

Rolex have been getting away with murder for years…. Lots of people wanting portable wealth (Russians for instance!) totally inflated the price

A colleague of mine just brought a PP Nautilus from Oliver Giroud!  Those prices stratospheric

Yea I’m the guy who has bought the automatic aqua terra three years ago at that price point, it’s nice… but I just don’t wear it much. I don’t regret it, but it’s a lot and Omega’s prices have pretty much caught up with Rolex. If I was to chose again I would have saved a bit more and got a white Speedmaster

Any recommendations as to Smartwatches that work fine with an iPhone, apart from the obvious choice?
Been looking at the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5 lately. Just love the aesthetics, battery life is so-so, though.

I've never bought vintage before but so tempted. The inner kid in me has always wanted a Mickey Mouse watch (reading too much Dan Brown!) but not one of these modern Disney Store things. I like the look of a 1970's Seiko 5000-7000 manual wind where Mickey's hands move. Seems to be a few online (ebay) but they are Japanese sellers and therefore they'll be import taxes etc to pay. Any advice what to look out for and hopefully steer me away from any pitfalls? Cheers

Vintage is always a punt!

but you’re not throwing serious money away..:  I just had a little google and it’s really fun watch!

ebay is not a bad place to start or Chrono 24

look at the detailed pics and ensure it’s relatively clean….  And take your pic…. Some Japanese sellers (if you ask them) will under declare the value for import tax (so I’ve heard!)

Not brave enough to risk serious money! From what I can gather it will mean 20% import VAT and Customs tax of another 2.5% and Courier charge (£15?) if over £135. All starts adding up for a little fun watch. Still want one though :D

Go for it then…. It’d be a talking point if nothing else!!!

I'd probably still wear it even if it doesn't work. In fact, it might just add to it's character :D
