tom27111 Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/101990-only-one-adam-johnson/ This thread has been locked. I'm guessing the mods did it for legal reasons, but I would like to add to it if possible. (Mods merge/do whatever with it) A lot of people will have their views on it, you can't change that. But as a person who was wrongly accused of rape, I feel like I should say something. It should be innocent until proven guilty, but peple jump to conclusions in these cases. Let's hear it in court first. After 17 months, the police finally saw that the girl who accused me was lying. It made my life hell. Destroyed my relationship and drove me to the brink of suicide. Sorry to get all serious, but don't judge until you know facts. They'll all come out in court. IF he's guilty, and that is a big if, fair enough. But in the mean time, you can't be judge, jury and executioner.
KFS Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 I get that, and it's horrific to hear. However, if you're in the public domain I think it's only right that you're suspended from playing until cleared. Doctors aren't allowed to practise in these circumstances, so why should this be treated any differently? What gets me is the reports of 3k Sunderland fans singing "one Adam Johnson". Yes, innocent until proven guilty, but the chance that he isn't? You've just sung the name, clapped and praised a criminal simply because he represents your football club? Even reports of that happening in front of young girls in the crowd? What sort of a message does that give? I don't know man, that's not right with me. Looking closer to home- whether Danny Simpson has been frozen out because of his legal complications or because he's no good, I'm not sure. But, I'd rather that than him playing every week representing my team.
GaelicFox Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 He isn't accused of rape , which is often two people with differing opinions of the events , your word against hers , that the formulate events He is accused of and charged and will face trial on a charges that are NOT about one persons word against another , they are about facts , since he has been charged the facts from the prosecutions point of view are strong In this situation him being allowed to play is incorrect He may have an innocent excuse for these events and charges but until his peers decide on that he should not play
tom27111 Posted 9 August 2015 Author Posted 9 August 2015 I see what you're saying, but let's see if a jury of his peers feel the same after hearing the evidence. As I say, if he's guilty, throw the book at him. But we don't know that he is. As for supporters singing his name, he's playing for them. I'd leave the legal situation out of it though. And Danny Simpson? He was found guilty, so different situation. I agree with you though. I don't want to sound like I'm preaching, but until you've lived it, god forbid, you'll never know. It's getting too deep and changing the subject, but a woman can say that and the man is branded a criminal. To me, that's wrong. It's personal to me, a lot of people judged me on a false accusation. That's multiplied by thousands if you're in the public eye. He'll never shake this off.

I'm not sticking up for him. Please don't think that. But let's hear what comes out in court.

But let's hear what comes out in court. I'm not finding him guilty But the charges are not at all similar to rape , sorry your just way off on this one It's not even technically a sex crime some of the charges He should not be playing until he is given a chance to explain his actions/behaviour in front of his peers Your own personal experiences are effecting your view I'm nicely saying to you maybe step away from this discussion as its only going to bring back painful memories

But why should an allegation stop him from doing his job? It shouldn't. It's that simple. Edit: I don't mind talking about my experience. I do it openly.

Edit: I don't mind talking about my experience. I do it openly. Because his job has him in contact with children all the time (mascots , club visitors , academy players on site etc......) That's all I can say without breaking the law Your experiences have no bearing or relevance on this case at all , sorry they don't , infact you have highlighted justice works But if your job involved being with women for long periods I would have hoped you would have been suspended whilst justice was being processed
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Yes he maybe guilty and I advocate tougher penalties than we already have for convicted paedophile's, BUT I think that the perpetrator's identity should only legally be revealed IF he/she is found guilty. There's always a stigma attached to them even if found not guilty
MikeyT Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 I found it really embarrassing when people were chanting "peado" yesterday. Booing fair enough, but chanting peado, really?
weller54 Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 What he IS guilty of is being a sh1t footballer!!... Send him down!
Fox92 Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Felt for him yesterday, there was no need for the chanting at him.
Guest ttfn Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Felt for him yesterday, there was no need for the chanting at him. He's going to get it everywhere he goes. Absolutely he's innocent until proven guilty of the crime in question but what he is evidently guilty of (from what has made the papers) is being a bloody idiot if nothing else. It comes with the territory that people in high-profile jobs will get dogs' abuse for stupid mistakes they make whether illegal or otherwise. If supporters of other teams think it will make him play worse then they'll do it.
Finnegan Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 He's not being charged with rape, he's being charged (and the case looks quite damming) with stat rape / grooming because he pursued a girl who was below the age of consent. This isn't a one night stand where the girl makes a wrongful accusation. You have my sympathy but these are two very different cases and Johnson should have been suspended pending investigation and taken out of the public eye, largely for his own sakes. If he wasn't one of their best players and they weren't so desperate he probably would have been.
ScouseFox Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 surely he has enough money in the bank to just retire to an island someone in the caribbean, that's what id do if I was him be fvcked being called a paedo all game every game
GaelicFox Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 If the club didn't play him and took him out of the limelight it would surely be the kind thing to do

davieG Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 This has been done to death anyone that has something to say about it must have already done so. Admins and Mods haven't got the time or the inclination to spend their forum viewing time checking topics like this to ensure no one is saying anything libellous or seemingly inappropriate so thread's closing until such time as a verdicts been reached.
