Guest ttfn Posted 1 October 2015 Posted 1 October 2015 his all round game is a lot better than all our other strikers in terms of what he gives a team and he's now scoring and assisting more than everyone else put together, too. just make him captain an be done with it His "all round" game was absolutely dire when we signed him as well. He was fast, worked hard and moved relatively intelligently but his first touch made Mark de Vries look like Marco van Basten. Absolutely unbelievable improvement in his game in 3 years. Instead of pillorying his selection England fans should be holding Vardy up as a paragon of what can be achieved with dedication and hard work.
Guest ttfn Posted 1 October 2015 Posted 1 October 2015 I don't understand the Danny Ings call-up at all. What has he done to get ahead of Berahino in the pecking order. Effectively he's about 7th choice striker now behind Rooney, Sturridge, Kane, Walcott, Welbeck and Vardy and that's before you even consider Berahino or big Andy. He's an ok player but does nothing particularly well. I can't see any value in him being selected whatsoever, we'd need about 3 injuries to strikers before he was even considered for the euros and he looks like he's about 36.
Leicesterpool Posted 1 October 2015 Posted 1 October 2015 My only thought is that, I'm sorry to say won't be the England side. I'd expect to see Kane start after his involvement in the last game, he did well when he came on and definitely changed the game. Maybe him upfront with Rooney deeper. Hart Clyne - Smalling - Cahill - Bertrand Carrick - Milner The Ox - Rooney - Sterling Kane Maybe that v Estonia. That'll be the team i think, but really I wish Roy would shake things round about it. We know what Rooney is capable of but I think we need to look at trying out alternative options. Otherwise come the tournament we're going found ourselves short of options which could mean short of goals I think.
RowlattsFox Posted 2 October 2015 Posted 2 October 2015 I would play two different teams in these two games, give everyone a chance to make an impression. V Estonia Butland Jones, Stones, Jagielka, Bertrand Ox, Shelvey, Alli, Lallana Kane, Vardy V Lithuania Hart Clyne, Cahill, Smalling, Gibbs Milner, Carrick Barkley, Rooney, Sterling Walcott Probably won't happen though.
Grandad. Posted 2 October 2015 Posted 2 October 2015 Strong team v Estonia and changes v Lithuania they're saying. And when I say 'strong' I mean Hodgson's version of strong. Ings will score the winner in the Derby on Sunday.
filbertway Posted 2 October 2015 Posted 2 October 2015 Good to have 2 genuinely top class goalkeepers. Unfortunate for Butland that he's behind Hart, but it'd be good to see him get some game time.
Dan Posted 2 October 2015 Posted 2 October 2015 Good point really about goalkeepers. Hart & Butland should sort us for years to come. Hart's cut out the silly mistakes a lot more lately.

He's worked on his game a lot recently. He's always been a fantastic shot stopper but things like his distribution and cross catching have improved immensely.
