Wages

The skill with this new TV deal is to not blink on wages.

Start paying more in wages because you're earning more is not the right move. The market is so distorted in the Prems favour which means the only clubs capable of paying extortionate wages is Premier league sides; if you want to shift a dud then your only option is another English top flight side, this has an inbuilt problem in that your list of potential suitors is vastly reduced and could lead to you being lumbered with a bunch of duff signings.

If we take Kram as an example, we paid a not inconsiderable sum (for us) but we can clearly offload him very easily as his wages aren't prohibitive. Clubs from here, abroad and lower leagues want him, if we'd signed him on 60k+ then he'd be stuck here till his contract expires. Pay Vardy 90k and suddenly Ulloa wants 40k.

20k. footballers pay 50% i thhink

They should but I think there are lots of creative ways that they can pay less tax.

It has been known for players to be paid in "loans" which are then written off, circumventing the need to pay any tax.

I'm not an expert, but it would be naïve to think that with such huge amounts of money, that there wasn't a good slice of tax avoidance going on.

I'm not pointing the finger at anyone in particular.

I don't think Ulloa is in a position to demand a wage rise from the club.

I also don't think players will complain when someone who contributes more to the team gets paid more. DD will have every right to feel aggrieved if Inler is paid more than him but the players accept that Vardy and Mahrez are mote than pulling their weight and deserve a bigger salary than them.

Messi will earn a lot more than everyone else at Barcelona but no problem as he's their best player. Suarez and Neymar would only be miffed if their was a striker on the bench on more than them. If Messi joined Leicester in January for £500k a week Mahrez and Vardy wouldn't be bothered about that.

A lot of players negotiate their salaries in net.

I remember PSG complaining that with Holland's new super tax on really big earners meant they couldn't compete for top players.

First the fitness, now the money. Chill out mate, if you're worried about someone elses money I'd hate to see how you deal with a high electric bill.

If our players think they deserve double the money then they can do one. Performance related is the way to go, work hard get paid.

He isn't worried about someone's wage !

Maybe you need to comprehend someone's offering before being a fecking eijit

if fergie was still at man u rooneys agent wouldnt have asked for 300k because he'd get laughed at.

if i recall, utd were struggling under the new management of moyes and didnt want to lose further face by losing their star player. in fact they likely offered that amount in the first place.

Spot on

Pretty sure we were paying Cambiasso a lot more than 45k a week last season

£100k by all accounts but that included tax I believe

Imagine if he had to go in the office to be paid in cash every week, how could he do it without blushing?

Contracted for another 3.5 years as well, nice work if you can get it.

the wages quoted for players are gross. They have to pay their taxes unless they have some dodgy tax arrangements!

I have an issue paying someone a lot more than the rump of the first team UNLESS they are an absolute key performer who is putting in in 100%.

The quickest way to a poor team spirit is players being paid a lot less and then requiried to do the running for a lazy prima donna.

also, a big salary package puts a base under the transfer fee that we can demand.

the discussion about inflated salaries and how they can be worth so much is irrelevant. That train left years ago.

I'd never take a pay cut
