Wages

It seems to be common knowledge that the most we pay a player is £45,000 a week (that's a lot of doe!)

But what happens when vardy gets offered double at another club. Or mahrez?

Do we offer the same money or let them go?

Just worries me that if we start paying 1 or 2 players a lot more than everyone else then it may effect the morale and spirit in the group.

How would everyone deal with the Situation?

First the fitness, now the money.  Chill out mate, if you're worried about someone elses money I'd hate to see how you deal with a high electric bill.

If our players think they deserve double the money then they can do one. Performance related is the way to go, work hard get paid.

Wow. I would try not to support a premier league club if you refuse to discuss wages/contracts.

Honestly, why does it worry you? Money is the most tedious aspect of football, and the owners seem well on top of spending what needs to be spent without wasting money.

Combined with your previous topic, and having joined this morning, are you a journo trying to get some controversy for a rag? "Leicester fans say Mahrez isn't worth X" or "Leicester fans fear owners won't pay Vardy what he's worth". Wouldn't bother trying to get a scoop here if I were you, anyone who knew anything got shouted down by WUMs under Nige. Everyone on here (except lcfcsnow) is just enjoying the ride...

just pay them what they want, who gives a shit. its not our money and the people who's money it is probably don't care cos they have so much anyway.

Wow. lol why does it bother me? Because January is in a few weeks and agents/clubs will be All over mahrez and vardy offering them all sorts. Or are you completely oblivious to the way the premier league works?

yeah but why is that our problem? shouldnt ever worry about things out of your control or you're gonna have a very shit life imo

I wouldn't pay ridiculous wages. We've seen the club in a mess before and I know football (and the club) is different now but nobody has unlimited money, not even our owners.

That report about Vardy above, I don't think it's true but he's not worth £90000 a week.

It's all fairly hypothetical.

Offering more money doesn't seem to be such a pull anymore when you look at what PL clubs can pay to players in general.

The boundaries of poor and rich in the league is getting more blurred as each new season passes - thanks to the TV money.

Players and their agents (if they're any good and interested in long-term development instead of short-term gain) are likely to look at the complete package. Wages are only one part of it. Other elements also come into play - bonuses, add-ons. And then there's always marketing contracts that can fill the cash register quickly, too.

Already been said numerous times by themselves. Vardy and Mahrez aren't going anywhere in January. The end. Chill.

Nothing we could do anyway.

Of course he is, look at all the players on £90k+ a week in the PL and tell me he's not at their level.

If his goals fire us to the champions league then he's well worth £90k per week.

we are a mid ish size club that is on fire at the minute, we all know we are punching above our weight, we wont go out splashing 50mill on a player and paying our own 100k a week, we are not that stupid. The players may get their heads turned but both Mahrez and Vardy have said that they will still be in the summer. Don't worry about it and just enjoy punching above our weight!

Cheap compared with Rooneys 300k!

The market place will dictate wage structures even though us mere mortals think it's excessive and immoral!

He is at their level but we can't afford it. We're not Manchester City or Chelsea. We don't buy players for £40million and pay players £100,000 a week.

We're doing really well at the minute - still performing above expectations - but we're only half way through a season. What if you give our players ridiculous wages then it all goes wrong. We have done this before and it hasn't worked.

Yes but Rooney plays for Manchester United, not Leicester City. They can afford to give their three best players £300k a week.

If that's our attitude perhaps we should just sell him and know our place and be a top end Championship and lower end PL club?

We'll be getting over £100m from TV money next season. I don't mind seeing our 20-30 goal a season man getting £4.5m of it.

Perhaps we could became the new Manchester United in the years to come?....

But only if we have ambition and are prepared to pay the market value in wages for exceptional players?

Why do you need to pay players 100k a week to be a good side? We didn't pay players ridiculous wages under O'Neill yet were still solid and still won trophies. Even nowadays, you rekon the likes of Southampton, West Brom and Stoke pay out loads of wages? There's always a limit.

It's been half a season. Manchester United dominated the PL for 15 years or so, Jesus.
