Mazda 2 1.6 or a Mazda 3 2.0 petrol. Skyactiv engines are very reliable so you can comfortably stretch to higher mileage and get good economy on motorway drives without worrying about DPF issues in the city

Good shout will look put for these thanks

Ha sorry I'm sure it's the perfect car for you

We paid £17k for a brand new one 2 years ago and I can't fault it. Pound for pound its been the best car we have owned.

Our plan is to hold onto it as our second car until its warranty expires after 7 years.

In fairness you have one of the newer models which are really good.  The older ones have range issues which I couldn't get on with.

Only 168 miles, which covers 98% of our journeys without using a public charger. We have driven it fully loaded to Scotland without much issue.

It has an older Chadamo charger with is a slight pain as it reduces the number of chargers available.

But the model we have can be bought for £4-5k and will still be covered by the 7 year battery warranty. Nissan guarantee that all cells will sit at a minimum of 80% after 7 years of use.

Anyone Lease their cars? Or salary sacrifice schemes?

Looking to upgrade over the next few months and exploring options.

I've always either bought outright or PCP'd my cars and traded up every 3 years or so.

I bought an EV on PCP a few years ago, expecting the same residual/equity to be in the car when I came to trade up this time - but it wasn't. EV's have tanked in price (which is great as long as you're not on a PCP)!

So I am pretty sure I will lease in the next couple of months. Octopus Energy are doing some pretty good deals (oddly) on leases - with servicing, tax, MOT's etc all included...plus 800 miles free public charging credit plus 8,000 miles free home charging.

Low BIK and 50% off the VAT makes it pretty much a no brainer - at least until things settle down a bit with EV pricing.

EV just won’t for us, looking at Hybrids.

It does seem the best deals, if you want a new car every 2-3 years are leases.

Indeed. Tesla are currently leasing brand new Model 3s via their website for as little as £225 p/m over 2 years.

It makes you a tacit supporter of Elon Musk though doesn't it? Better to support our CCP overlords IMO.

It's a bit like saying I'll never listen to a Michael Jackson song ever again.

I can separate the man from the car.

Fair play. I abstain on both as I cannot bring myself to do that.

So far I haven't started supporting the CCP car exports, but I have thought about it.

Damn, that's a very decent deal!

I've even heard that some people have been able to wait until the car is delivered and rhe contract starts, then phone the finance company up and negotiate even lower monthly payments for longer 3-4 year terms.
