holyfox Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 History will always be other us, but we have to be open to creating the future with a broader view. In our history, we changed from Leicester Fosse to LCFC, we've had lots of different colored strips but have settled on blue, we even had people not wanting to leave Filbert street.. The elite clubs have all now developed mega stadiums.. We are in the middle category along with derby, Southampton, middlesborough.. If there was a chance that in a few years time we could be looking at an alternative option.. Subject to it being in the city maybe fosse Park, I think that would place us alongside spurs, Chelsea and the other bigger teams.
AS78UK Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 In theory / practice our success has engaged younger supporters who will increase our long term future attendance. Also as our Asian contingent is now well into another generation, hence going to the match has become more normal practice, I can see attendances only going up. Build it and they will come!
promised land Posted 7 May 2016 Posted 7 May 2016 All these saying fosse park, that's a big no before it gets pencilled on a map. Have any of you been to Coventry away, a stadium sat next to a shopping centre out of town on match day, it's beyond a joke getting traffic around, imagine it here with over 35k fans trying to get in, out. Plus you can't walk it from the city centre, that's the biggest no of all IMO. Stay put and expand when ready to do so.
ithuriel Posted 7 May 2016 Posted 7 May 2016 Should stay where it is, expand and improve rather than move.
Deucalion Posted 7 May 2016 Posted 7 May 2016 In the past I've heard it said that the ground can be fairly easily expanded to 45k by building on the south, east and north stands, for which the structure is already there. Expanding to 55k is more difficult as it requires the offices and shops and suchlike in the West Stand to be demolished first. Personally, I would prefer a new ground. I've never got attached to this stadium as I did Filbert Street. Also, unless there were some pretty robust measures in place to cope with extra traffic and parking, I can't see an expansion as a feasible option.
LanguedocFox Posted 7 May 2016 Posted 7 May 2016 Anyone have any idea how much of the land around the KP that the club actually owns? Expansion would probably depend on that, and whether more land can be acquired. Personally I'd rather we took it slowly - maybe go to 45K and see how we do in the future. A big but half-empty stadium would be awful.
davieG Posted 7 May 2016 Posted 7 May 2016 I think it'd make more sense that the Filbert Street site is a new car park, acting as a replacement for the spaces lost during KP expansion and also to generally make more parking available. They should have incorporated this in the new stadium setting.
chapero82 Posted 7 May 2016 Posted 7 May 2016 Gonna call 'bollocks' on this one We moved from there because we couldn't expand as the people living around it were morning if I remember rightly so I doubt they would want a bigger stadium there now
