Monsell1976 Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 I think the approach will be an extension to two sides of the stadium to add a further 10,000 seats. Most likely to be the East and North stands. Extending the West stand would be a major redevelopment having to re-structure the Boxes / Offices / Facilities if done properly, thus, East/North seem a more pragmatic approach. A steelwork extension will be the most cost effective approach. Do we really need more than an additional 10,000 seats at this stage of our evolution? Sod being higher up than we are now, the stand moves after a goal, can imagine it being worse higher up.
Jace Posted 6 May 2016 Author Posted 6 May 2016 It'd be a nice gesture if we could somehow put that right now considering our extremely healthy financial position. Shouldn't be a liability of the current owners
Wymsey Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 Would rather expand. The atmosphere is at it's best than it ever has been before, and sometimes moving can have poor atmospheres. A good option, if moving was really to be considered, would be to move near Fosse Park way - plenty of car parking spaces nearby and traffic would flow easier in different directions.
filbertway Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 If you want to get ITV digital to give us the £2.5m we got shafted for, which was one of the contributing factors to us going under... then I'm sure we might think about it. So long as Bournemouth, Southampton, Palace do it... and Boro and Hull if they come up. Shouldn't be a liability of the current owners I just saw it as more of a nice gesture than anything. Obviously it has nothing to do with the club as it is now so they should feel absolutely no obligation to offer previous creditors anything. Not sure why we should hold ourselves to anybody else's standard though Babs. I didn't actually know much about this at this time as I was only 12/13 and didn't really know much more than who was on the pitch and the teams in our league. Turns out Birse still turned a profit of £1.2 million that year but it was 5.5 lower than the 6.7 they had made the previous year. So I guess it mainly affected shareholders dividends than putting the company in jeopardy.
Harborough Fox Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 Except we did, well... other than what Burse missed out on. birse llost out on £5m and pretty much finished the business. Birse are now part of Balfour Beaty and as the only Lcfc supporter working for them I get reminded about the 5 million squids daily Oh well - we are going on a European tour

Our ground is one of the best located in the country. Heart of the city.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 I'd probably like to keep the stadium we have now. The Filbert Way site has so much potential to improve, in terms of - appearance, stands imporvements, statues, history, expansion and more. The atmosphere is excellent at the current ground too and I've noticed for a few running seasons now, the club have done articles on how it is being improved internally and externally. The positives about our ground is that it is very close to Filbert Street, and also in the heart of Leicester. But, if we were to build a new stadium, I'd like to see a 40k built capacity, with the stadium name being something original to Leicester City. Filbert Park, City Fosse Stadium etc.
KP Fox Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 One thing it neglects to mention about the relocation...it's in Bangkok. Yeah they got the idea from Milton Keynes. We gonna be renamed BK Foxes.
Harborough Fox Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 Thinking about this its birse' s own fault If they had built the Kop where the family stand is things would have turned out better
Babylon Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 Not sure why we should hold ourselves to anybody else's standard though Babs. My reaction to be fair, was based more on the people in the press I've seen stating we should repay old debts, yet totally ignoring the fact that numerous other clubs have done exactly the same. It's been pissing me off.

Elsie Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 The KP does feel cheap but it is our home and it could (fairly easily) be upgraded. Have a look at the stand they're building now at Anfield; it looks amazing, looming over the old main stand.

It's been pissing me off. Haha, that's fair enough. This is literally the first I've known about it. I knew a lot of teams felt bitter about us going into admin but never really looked into it before. It makes your really appreciate what we have at the minute, it seems like Taylor and the board managed to ruin years of good work and almost run the club out of existence in about 18-24 months.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 The KP is like a stadium bought from IKEA, it does need a revamp to add more character, but I wouldn't want us to relocate again.
AyewJoking Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 surely the KP just folds up neatly so you can pack it away when not using it?
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 I don't get why people dislike the KP for feeling 'cheap'. People openly described Filbo as a shithole and loved it for it and said how it was 'homely' and 'full of character'. The KP is rubbish and everyone hates it for the same reason

Its football not grand designs you melts
Jace Posted 6 May 2016 Author Posted 6 May 2016 The best solution really is a decent well designed extension to the family stand and east stand, that with an overall revamp will do the job. Unfortunately the previous pictures we saw of the extension didn't look great

Foxymcoxy Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 Why build a new stadium? This one has only just found its feet. Extension seems the way to go for now.
