It's pretty clear there is a lot more to this. Chelsea saw some key evidence, they didn't want it being dragged through the courts, and decided to give an amount big enough so that Dr Eva wouldn't bring it up in the public arena. 

 

And since the payoff was pretty big, it would follow that what she had to say would have been...interesting.

Chelsea were an absolute disgrace as well, the statement they released yesterday said “The club regrets the circumstances which led to Dr Carneiro leaving the club and apologises unreservedly to her and her family for the distress caused. We wish to place on record that in running on to the pitch Dr Carneiro was following both the rules of the game and fulfilling her responsibility to the players as a doctor, putting their safety first.”

 

Only hours before they still were trying to claim she was manipulative, positioning herself in camera shots etc, it was was only as she was about to enter the stand and spill the beans did they finally offer her a shitload of cash not to do so.

 

Unfortunately people who are valuable know they can get away with what they like providing they are delivering success to the public or superiors  - we all know our reation to Vardy in the casino would have been far different had it been Harry Panayiotou, sadly become a fact of life.

I used to despise his militant queerness at times but these days I like him, one of those people who is totally consistent with his views and doesn't turn a blind eye to bigotry for any particular group to suit an agenda, has the guts to tackle anyone head on whether it's trying to arrest Robert Mugabe or marching through Russia, people like him are a dying breed.

 

We had a chat in the Park Plaza on Westminster bridge a few years back and got onto homosexuality (which I'm sure you can imagine is his favourite subject) in football and Jose Mourinho's views were mentioned.

Nobody, man or woman, can warrant £5 million in compensation for abuse at work! If Jose had lamped her and left her paralysed her from the neck down then yeah ok. It's hardly like she won't ever get work again is it? She's well qualified and is hardly tarnished in any way by this.
