Guest CityFan 06 Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 Thanks for that davieG, interesting topic and article. I think we certainly are in the right place for where the club should be. Our fan base & stadium certainly supports this. For me clubs like Leicester, Leeds, Sheff Wed, Nottm Forest, Derby, Newcastle & Villa are all examples of who should be in the top flight given the size and history of them individually. A telling fact of this, is when we were in the Championship, we were always up there as one of the 'biggest clubs' in the Championship, it was always Leicester, Forest, Leeds etc. The fact that we and those clubs were regarded as that shows where exactly the club should be.
MrSpaM Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 Currently everything about our club is premiership standard. The ground, the fans, the players. I think the premiership is our rightful place. It's nice to see us placed above Derby and level with Forest in the overall rankings now as well
Kitchandro Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 We're obviously punching above our weight in the Champions League. If we're judging it on fanbase and general league history (pointless picking out major honours unless you're winning them consistently, as very few clubs are) the only real indicators of how big a club actually is, we're lower midtable Premier League.
Manwell Pablo Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 Pretty good way of looking at it actually. Good article and I'd say 14th/15th in the Prem never really a position to be upset about for a Leicester fan and anything better = good season. Obviously with what we have at our disposal at the minute a few more years of being a bit better than that would be nice though!
Cadno'r Cymoedd Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 But think what it will look like in say 20 years time with an unprecedented succession of PL titles!
Nalis Posted 6 August 2016 Posted 6 August 2016 Good article. Good point raised on Sheffield Wednesday. Think a lot of people are biased towards their own 'era' (ie, when they were in their teens / early 20s) so those born in the 80s like myself would always argue Sheffield Wednesday will always be a bigger club than, say, Stoke, however the evidence seems to steer away from this notion.
Vlad the Fox Posted 6 August 2016 Posted 6 August 2016 All the 'little Leicester' talk did piss me off (stringer was the worst for it), it's not as if we're barnsley or such like ffs and it was disrespectful to the club and its past achievements as well as detrimental to the image the club wants to portray going forward Including getting potential signings in. We're a big club with a proud history and like many other big clubs have realistic hopes of some success, the 5000/1 odds was the bookies **** up, we should never have been that long, and it shows their arrogance and the arrogance of many pundits as if they'd done a little bit of homework on us they'd have realised we were much much better than they realised.
Vacamion Posted 6 August 2016 Posted 6 August 2016 We're bigger than my perception of us. Hooray! Whilst they focus on Wolves and Wednesday, that table really illustrates how terrible the current positions of Villa, Newcastle and Bolton are, compared with their "proper" positions.
