NewquayFox Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 Not quite sure if this has been asked/mentioned but does Huth serve his second game ban for today's game along with Fellaini? Hernandez is a very good replacement if he is out, apologies if this has been covered previously folks.... Up the City....
MarriedaLeicesterGirl Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 No. The ban is a Premier League ban....so Hull.
NewquayFox Posted 7 August 2016 Author Posted 7 August 2016 Cheers for that matey.... Up the City....
Mezeker Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 Does he miss the Arsenal game too? I forgot how long the ban was.
NewquayFox Posted 7 August 2016 Author Posted 7 August 2016 I have just been told it was a three game ban, he missed Everton, Chelsea last season & Hull away this season... Up the City......
Jimmy Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 the way him and Morgan have defended pre season has been awful, will be interesting to see how Hernandez does next Saturday, assuming its him
Grewks Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 The thing is, the way we play, our center halves really do not have to do a great deal of physical defending, their organisation and positioning is the more important thing. Hernandez looks very composed and has arguably the best of these 3 center halves during pre-season. I'm not worried, in fact i'm looking forward to seeing us be more composed back there.
Livid Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 With him not starting next week I was expecting Hernandez to start today. I understand wanting to play the team who won us the league though.

lcfcben76 Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 The first goal today was abysmal from Morgan and Huth, looking forward to Hernandez

Hernandez has looked much better as a CB than an RB but he certianly hasn't looked as good defensively as either Huth or Morgan, what he can do is pass the ball better and has a monster throw in.

Even as a purist I'd rather do away with the monster throw and fancy passing if it means us keeping "nil" in the "goals conceded" column.
FireFox Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 Hernandez made more interceptions than anyone else in La Liga last season. He knows how to defend.
Captain... Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 It is preseason and we have been up against some of the best attackers in the world. Zlatan, Rooney, Martial, Suarez, Messi, Cavani I'm not worried, once we get back in to our premiership groove I expect Huth and Morgan to return to being the beasts of last season and I trust Hernandez and Was to step in when needed.

I'd argue that against Barcelona, he stepped out and made 2-3 interceptions which allowed us to counter quickly. Considering Huth and Morgan have looked poor in comparison to the heights they hit last season, they have looked slow, sluggish, not composed and to be honest their age. We will see after the Hull game. If they don't perform to the required standard, the weaker out of Morgan and Hernandez will be replaced by Huth. Should they play well, Huth stays out of the side.

They all have fantastic movement, probably the one attribute our big burly centre halves find hardest to cope with.

I don't think so. Huth is back in the side (as our best CB) without question.

You said, that you would drop Hernandez for Huth even if we keep a clean sheet. How is dropping a guy who played well, for a guy who didn't play, picking on form? It's the same as the Rooney debate, just a shorter timescale.

If we keep a clean sheet it must be due to Hernandez being in better form than Huth. You are really quite an annoying fool aren't you? A shorter time scale - you mean 1 game - a game that huth is banned from. You hate Huth and rate a player that you've seen play how many full games in his career? Our "discussion" is ended.

My point is simple. If Hernandez and Morgan keep a clean sheet on saturday, you cannot drop Hernandez for Huth and claim it to be on 'form'.

Hernandez will be playing NOT because of form but because Huth is banned. 1 game is not "form".
