boots60 Posted 16 August 2016 Posted 16 August 2016 Popped his clogs aged 100. Receiver of countless brown envelopes. Arguably single handedly responsible for turning F.I.F.A into the corrupt greed ridden organisation it has been for many years. Succeeded by his oppo Sepp Blatter who continued his financial philosophies admirally. OR A visionary figurehead, years ahead of his time who set the ball rolling to turn the game into the much loved spectacle it is today.

Amin Posted 16 August 2016 Posted 16 August 2016 I don't think there has ever been a good FIFA president, but he was the one who really kick started the globalisation of the game, allowing more countries from around the world to take part in the World Cup. He certainly did more for football than Stanley Rous ever did.

Nalis Posted 16 August 2016 Posted 16 August 2016 Not going to celebrate anyone's death but we'll probably never know the magnitude of corruptness at FIFA when he was at the helm.
