cc_star Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Why have we stopped playing deep, keeping fullbacks in tight as a solid 4, a unit. Players aren't individually good enough to not play as a unit Where has our workrate gone??? There's ZERO excuse for this - Either sh1t or get off the pot Why are our tactics neither counter, nor press? They're just some sort of disorganised halfway house - That's incredibly easy for anyone better than Burnley/Bruges to play through and score a hat-full This has nullified our strength in attack And as we're not playing ball forwards quickly, we're barely creating a chance Amartey isn't a first team, starting 11 player - He's a utility sub... and he needs development Solid performance against Arsenal aside & a good spell against Swansea... we've been worse this season than we were in a first season back, while although we played bad for middle half of that season, we never got thrashed Ranieri not kidding when he says we're in a relegation battle Unless he gets back to basics....
Monsell1976 Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 My biggest criticism is we are so predictable in formation, players and the way we play. We have been found out, and it won't work against the better teams.
Always Next Year Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 TACTICS what tactics, left them in the dressing room, or on the bus.
dayday Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 The trouble for Ranieri is that it simply comes down to poor recruitment. What worked last season, won't this because losing the key player that made it tick hasn't been replaced which has coursed the imbalance. As mentioned we don't shift the ball quick enough, and we don't press nowhere near as much as last season. And the only way we can change this, is by changing the formation, that then brings its own problems,as to who plays and who we sacrifice. Its a tough call for Ranieri, as players like Vardy or Slimani may have to be dropped.
Andrew Philip King Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 My biggest problem is not so much tactics but selection. Amartey is just not up to scratch. maybe in a few years. maybe...

King & Drinkwater is just as bad. So, we're going to need to change But... We're so far off even doing the basics right Fuchs & Simpson need to tuck in, it's only then that the 4 at the back are any good - 5 including keeper And Vardy needs a pivot, Nugent was it, then Okazaki.... Now who? Certainly not Slimani who needs to be in the box Then there's the midfield where no two players are good enough and a 3 ruins everything else There's enough flexibility in the squad to pick different formations, but unless the fullbacks tuck in and shore up the back 4 to play as a unit and unless we sort out whether we're playing Vardy with a worker behind him... We're screwed
Algerian Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Forget about transfers now. The team has 18 games to play with the current squad till the opening of Winter Mercato. Defence Weaknesses and consistent exposure to harm are so obvious. There is no questioning about changing the current 4-4-2 formation in which midfield is almost absent. With the lack of pace of 3/4 back four (Simpson, Morgan, Huth), i think Ranieri has to play from now on with a pure defensive midfielder beside the central defence. His role would be to do the ''Wiper'' job; harrassing opposition, preventing through balls, ensuring marking one Huth/Morgan step on and quickly delivering easy and reliable passing. Front of him two box-to-box midfielders capable of defending, retaining the ball and building attacking situations. Two pure wingers and a sole striker upfront. _____________Goally_____________ Simpson__Morgan___Huth_____Fuchs __________Mendy or Amartey_______ _______Drinky_______Albrighton_____ Mahrez_____Slim or Vardy______Gray Gray should start as much as possible, he is a real prospect and the more minutes he plays the more he will progress. It will be either Vardy or Slimani, depending on the type of game and opposition profile. Musa and Kaputska should be involded much more.

I agree it's poor recruitment but I feel all summer our preparations were wrong. We shouldn't have played 442 today and yet again we conceded goals from corners. Their midfield walked all over ours (even though I felt Drinkwater played well).
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 We don't have enough centre midfielders. Only three right now and we're crying out for Mendy to be fit. Feel Claudio wants to play with three centre mids but that would mean right now we won't have one on the bench for injuries or tiredness

Talking of recruitment... half the squad bugger off to Africa for the make or break part of the season Slimani, Mahrez, Armartey, Schlupp
lgfualol Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 I liked the tactic where heads never went down and we fought for every ball, spurred on by our fearless striker who never stopped running. WHERE HAS THE FIGHT GONE
foxinsocks Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 Yes... i like the tactic where players are first to the ball... not allowing fokk to step in and nick it Against strong talented teams we will struggle untill amarty settles in .... or mendy.... and unless we fight to be first to the ball

SpinneyHillRanger Posted 24 September 2016 Posted 24 September 2016 answer is the difference between Kante and Amartey is night and day. one would pass or run immediately forward after winning the ball the other barely wins the ball in a tackle and when he does have possession rartely passes or drives FORWARD.... it mainly sideway passes lacking confidence Along with the fact.... that hunger is not there.... most of these guys realise what happened last season won't be repeated in 100 years... so are content with their achievements. Champion League will be a different story though
