Campaign to stop selling the Sun Newspaper

As Vac said above, virtue signaling goes both ways.

There's no way the Sun should be banned or anything like that, but let's not pretend they're not hypocrites and not pushing their own agenda.

What is The Sun's agenda on this?

They supported us taking genuine child refugees by the way.

A situation where the only virtue signaling is their own.

Regarding the wider issue, they change like the wind depending on what they think their readership want to hear. Right now it's more insular and UK centric, with a hint of compassion in the form of "think of the children in Syria/wherever", so that's what they're flying with.

The virtue signalling was for the readers, given the abuse they have gotten I'd say they were fairly justified in pointing out that huge amount of money raised as well.

As far I can see, they have never wavered on this, The Sun, from the start have said any lone child refugees in the camp should be welcome here, are you just doing a Lineker and making it up as you go along? Can you provide evidence where they have changed like the wind on the issue of child refugees?

They're pointing out the money they've raised for their own benefit, to show what a good job they're doing, yes.

Sorry for the lack of clarity in my second paragraph there. What I meant is that right now the general mood on the UK is very insular and the Sun are indulging that attitude because it sells well. They've changed on that in the past when it's suited to do so. Regarding Syria itself, I'm sure they've been steadfast on the subject of child refugees, though don't expect me to believe that is anything more than self interest based on crossing a line, raising further anger and possibly seeing a sales drop from not being so.

Would you be also proud when someone that is either in your family or some one you know is assaulted, sexually or otherwise by one of these refugees?

Every single country that has taken in large quantities of these 'refugees' has had constant problems.

Our multicultural city is all very good but there are parts of our city that are basically no go areas these days.

If people want to come in which in some cases truly deserve and need our help then they should be put through a comprehensive screening process and if dental analysis is required then so be friggin it.

What utter shite.

You mean someone like me that's dedicated a number of years working with young asylum seekers and refugees?

Tell me where the no go areas are in Leicester then and your source for the U18's that are raping?

Just call him racist, be done with it then leave, it's all you lot are good for these days anyway.

Just toddle off and make America great again - you daft racist. (I'm guessing you'll like a bit a bit of Alan)

I think The Sun calling for Lineker to be sacked is a better example of outrage culture than a petition trying to reduce sales of a piece of shit newspaper.

lmfao, my post gets deleted but the original post about people's family getting sexually assaulted remains.

Ironic considering the theme of censorship being discussed in this thread.

I don't really mind getting called a cvnt. Happens quite a lot.

I'd rather be called a cvnt than be asked how I'd feel "when someone in your family is sexually assaulted by one of these refugees". But, hey, it's your toy set. You delete whatever you want.

There, I've deleted the post that offended you as well, happy now?

Nah, would've been better to keep it up to show what a tosser the poster was.

If there was a petition to stop most national papers (Sun, Daily Mail, Guardian), for daily making up claims/making silly stories up I'd be up for it.

But this proposal makes no sense whatsoever. Politicians, celebrities etc make much worse comments on certain topics but don't get nailed down on it and being accused of whatever.

Too many daft petitions, like this one, going around in recent times. The problem is that too many idiots use social media to try and intimidate others and try and make them be some sort of scapegoat.
