Maybe, but the point remains Trump got fewer votes than Romney. So this idea of a great revolt against the 'progressive left' seems unfounded.

It's not a great revolt, I never said it was. It's just the progressive left have stopped articulating or debating and just started crying racist or xenophobe or whatever buzzword you like. They've offered no real change, or debate and as such the silent majority voted against them.

What a pathetic, unfounded and bigoted  statement to make. My son has a BA with Honours, and an MA with credit. He and thousands like him voted to leave

Did he study in Scunny?

YES! YES! YES! They have the guts to say it how it is! Like it, or lump it, but don't hide from it. Immigration is spiralling out of control, and affects housing, crime, education  and above all, the NHS.

Simply not true !

Lack of Government spending and the Tory NeoCon machine is to blame for these issues  lack of housing , poorly funded police , education and NHS

load of crap to blame it on immigrants !

The same services all collapsed under Maggie and there were no Poles or Latvians to blame then , away now and spout your ill informed and poorly constructed xenophobic shite somewhere else !

Freeloading Brit millions of them who have never contributed to the system but want free prescriptions , low cost social housing and free dole money are probably the biggest drain on society and public services

Daily Mail are free to post completely one sided articles, the 'small pressure group' (as Webbo said himself) are free to lobby companies on their advertising. No one's under censorship. People want a decent level of journalism, how is that unreasonable?

If everyone wanted a decent level of journalism, there wouldn't be a gutter press.

They are hugely popular and the audience is a part of the population that the stores want as customers.

That's a lot of pictures. Can you tell me which one of those headlines is an outright lie?

Do you seriously not realise that the daily mail tells lies?

That says it all really.

Given some of your posts, you best focus on that assignment! :P

It's okay, I'm already guaranteed a 2:1 off the back of my midterm and have plenty of time to do it. Don't worry :P

The numerous ones that were retracted days later.

And in all seriousness can you really say that sensationalist bullshit is adding any debate?

So you know that "CIA given details of British Muslim students" is an outright lie? Can't possibly be true? It seems to me that whoever put that montage together just assumed that anything with Muslim in the headline was spreading hate.

Who the **** said it does Webbo? Sounds to me like you're the one banging this drum. Get a grip and stop being bumhurt cos you read the DM and people are suggesting it might have an inappropriate agenda, provide evidence to contrary to your opinion, and making the assertion that everyone is assuming because of that, you too support and or agree with their campaign. You simply cannot argue that the inflammatory language used by both these papers within their headlines and stories, including editorials is objective or factually correct even as an uneducated yet well read individual.

You are stuck on the record that this campaign is to try to put these papers out of business, and censor right wing opinion. It is not. It won't happen. It's an attempt to pressurise companies to reconsider their affiliation with papers that distort fact, and campaign with an insidious agenda against minorities. No one says that papers can't publish what they choose, whatever political side they represent or support.

Heavy fines is not the answer to published lies, hypocrisy, and untruths. The minimal fine gets paid, the apology hidden in a small box and never gets read or acknowledge by the readers.

Your belief that it is undemocratic to put pressure on companies to hold them to account to where they make their profits off the back of, is as deluded as your belief that the DM & Sun are doing no wrong.

If serious issues, or issues that are genuinely impacting average people of this country are debated without the rhetoric or BS that gets printed in ALL media, then we could actually address them with solutions, not reactionary prohibitions, and deepening divisionary methodology.

Most sensible post I've seen DT make

I don't think anybody seriously believes that the media, left or right, doesn't sensationalise stuff but provided they do so within the scope of the law then what's the problem? Papers gotta be sold.

The evolution of what can and can't be said, what can and can't be done, what can and can't be taught is so dangerous to liberal values yet it's liberals driving it. I can't fathom how blind people are. I fear in twenty years time, joking about having to sing "Bar bar rainbow sheep" instead of "Bar, bar black sheep" will be a long lost past time.

All I'm asking is for an example. I know all papers put a slant  on a story, twist the facts that's nothing new,.

Good argument. Well done for understanding the point of my post and shutting it down with well reasoned debate.

All papers sensationalise. Closing down differing opinions stops the debate full stop. There second bit addressed, did I really need to say that? I've been saying it all day.

Yes I know it was, as I've already pointed out lefties mock or label when they can't successively counter an argument.

huh, what the **** are you on about? I'll address whatever I want. You seriously want me address your speculation about the future of political correctness and where you see the country going? You haven't even made a considered argument. Let's see some of this evidence of liberals at the wheel please.
