4everfox Posted 23 November 2016 Posted 23 November 2016 Most successful clubs before Premier League era: Man United, Liverpool, Leeds United, Aston Villa, Everton, Nottingham Forest (any more?). Most successful since Premier League began: Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Tottenham Hotspur (any more?). Based on the above (which may not be accurate as I'm not exactly old enough to remember pre-Premier League football) I'd say Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City (in that order) are the most improved.
Fox92 Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 Wigan. We played Premier League football consistently and under O'Neill finished top 10 a number of times - that's as well as playing in Europe and three League Cup finals. A club like Wigan are traditionally small with not much history. For them to get to the top flight, stay there for 5+ years and win the FA Cup was brilliant, unbelievable, success. People saying clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City but these clubs had a good history anyway.
Chico1958 Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 And the Winner is ............................ Swansea As a Cardiff man that's hard to write but from where they were to they are has been an incredible story. Closely followed by Southampton who lose palyers and managers year in year out and still perform to a high standard. Their recruitment system seems to be one of the best in the division, they've got a hidden gem looking after that for them.
fox in the sox Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 Bournemouth, Burnley, Swansea, West Brom and Stoke were all in the 3rd tier when the Prem started so all must be given credit for their improvement
Corky Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 Fulham didn't do too badly for themselves, bottom half of the Third Division in 1996 before three promotions in five years (winning over 100 points twice) and spending 13 years in the Premier League, reaching a European final in the process.
Wymsey Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 In around 15 years' time, I would expect Salford FC mentioned on this thread..

If youre including oldham, what about swindon or bradford or portsmouth? anyway, do you think man city have experienced both extremes?

See I'm not sure why people keep questioning me on this, have I misunderstood the original question? Most improved side of the premier league era, mean to me. Record since creation vs record before creation. So 1992< vs 1992>. That means Man City's decline and improvement is within one era, so it's not an achievement in this contest.
