More like we made him look good.

Indeed we did

he is in fairness a shambolic defender

Typical Brazilian, flare and an eye for the goal but can't defend to save his life

Won everything in the air, dispossesed us several times and his distribution was excellent. He was probably the best player on the pitch in that game.

Yeah he had a good game but I think in fairness we were so poor we didn't really test him

Its funny how people would now be happy with Ake for £18m when I'm sure we were linked at the start of last season for a hell of a lot less and no-one wanted him.

You presume they are the same people, and it's not really funny as he's had a very good season in the league we're in, backed up by a decent one at Watford before that.

Chill out Babs, it's Friday my man!

I'm in the camp of actually hoping it isn't Ake for that much. He's been decent but mainly as a left back and at 5'11 (shorter than both Fuchs and Chilwell), is he tall enough to play CB in a back 4, or has he played there  enough? Don't really see us going to a back 3. Paying £18M is probably steep for him still, and I don't think we will be one of the teams to do that if he does go for that much.

Just my my opinion but I don't think it's him.

Hoping it is someone and soon though. End of the month is coming up quickly.

Couple of minor points:

-Ake's between Chilly and Fuchs in terms of height

-He was playing as a CB with Bournemouth

-And I think he's a helluva player :P

The real question is:

Are his hands as soft as Zieler's?

No one's are! What a thought to start a Friday... actually based on the number of soft goals he conceded, beginning to think it is Zieler's wrists that are soft as well as his hands!

do you still think he would perform if hes placed with Morgan?

or do you think Huth would be better (the superior defender?)

I do not understand how anyone who saw the Chelsea Leicester game can have this viewpoint.

He is  anything but a 'typical Brazillian' - this is a very prejudiced comment.

If you are viewing him on one game alone then god help us

prejudiced? Please I absolutely love Brazil, Brazilian people and in particular Brazilian footballers and would be super excited if Leicester ever bought a decent Brazilian footballer

that all said in fairness and generally speaking as a sweeping statement Brazilians don't always make the best defenders

I'm really not. He's had a good season. But it is probably worth pointing out he holds the world record for highest transfer fee for a defender. That kind of record is incompatible with someone being a 'shambolic defender'

He can play very well but he also has awful games

Brazil v Germany World Cup match?

Luiz has been absolutely superb this season, he used to be a bit calamitous but he's either grown out of it or Conte's sorted him.

Or he's got Kante in front of him and 2 other CBS to clear up after him.

It helps him the fact that our attacking service was dogshit and that our tactics and formation was crap.

Exactly and I think that was the point that was initially made, we just didn't test him
